Stefanie Grant's research interests focus on forced and involuntary migration, and the human rights consequences of leaving a country of nationality as a refugee or migrant. She has held visiting fellowships at the University of Sussex and the London School of Economics. Her previous work has included acting for immigrants and refugees as a solicitor in London, and heading the research branch of the UN’s Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva. She has also led Amnesty International’s Research Department in London, represented Amnesty in Washington DC, and consulted for IOM, ILO, the Global Commission on International Migration and the Council of Europe. Recent work has been on deaths during migrant cross border journeys, and the rights of families; and on consular protection and migrants' rights.
