The ability to detect faces has inspired many researchers because a human face shows great dissimilarities in form and figure due to changes in position and expression in different situations. This research aims to produce a method of applying recurrent neural network (RNN) designs using long short-term memory (LSTM) to identify facial expressions. The proposed method involves an improved RNN that uses LSTM to increase the effectiveness of the feature extraction process using input sets which regenerate the input-data from the features. The accuracy and computing time of this technique were studied. With LSTM-RNNs, the results show that the design gives enhanced outcomes compared with other methods, including most image/video face detection methods. The efficiency evaluation of LSTM-RNNs in images and in video frame series shows that there are performance improvements of more than 5% compared with traditional neural networks.

Results: Factors were found significantly associated with overweight and obesity. Among nutritional factors such as fast food and snacks have p-value 0.000, whereas, daily food intakes have p-value 0.001. Physical activities such as housework activities have p-value 0.000; whereas, both regular exercise and time spent on TV/Computer per day have p-values 0.001. Systemic factors such as systemic diseases have p-value 0.001 whereas family history of overweight and obesity and women using medications both have p-value 0.000. Conclusion: The study concluded that overweight and obesity was positively associated with nutritional factors, physical activities and factors such as genetics, use of medications and systemic diseases among women 25-60 years.

Nanopowder of LSCM was synthesized using metal nitrates and citric acid by solution-combustion method. Development of crystalline phase in as-synthesized powder after calcination was monitored by X-ray diffraction. Particle sizes of as-synthesized powders were analysed by transmission electron microscopy. Synthesized active material (LSCM) along with carbon black and polyvinylidene fluoride was coated on porous Ni foams by vacuum centrifuge mixing to prepare electrodes. Electrochemical characterization of the electrodes was carried out by cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and galvanostatic charge discharge (GCD) in 3 M KOH using saturated calomel electrode as reference electrode. These tests revealed that the electrodes prepared from LSCM powder synthesized at pH 4 (LSCM-(pH4)) displayed the highest specific capacitance of 751 F/g at 1 mV/s and an Aerial capacitance of 2.9 F/cm 2 with ca. 5 mg mass loading of the active material. LSCM-(pH4) showed the lowest charge transfer resistance as determined by EIS and 79 % charge retention after 5000 CV cycles at 50 mV/s. Furthermore, LSCM-(pH4) electrodes were tested using Hg/HgO as reference electrode which showed stability of electrodes in a wider potential window of about 0.8 V. LSCM-(pH4) electrode showed maximum SC of 752 F/g at 1 mV/s. Symmetric supercapacitor developed with LSCM (pH4) displayed SC of 179 F/g at 1 mV/s and charge retention of ca. 92 %.

However, extra articular osteochondromatosis is rare and only few have been reported around the ankle joint. We have reported such a presentation and have reviewed the literature extensively. PRESENTATION OF CASE: We present a 26 year old male patient with a painless swelling over the lateral aspect of his left ankle. He was subjected to clinical and radiological examination which revealed a firm to hard swelling around the lateral malleolus and a lobulated juxtacortical cystic lesion with calcification. He underwent a surgical excision and subsequent histopathology was suggestive of SC. DISCUSSION: The subtle clinical and radiological presentation of SC can lead to both a delay in the diagnosis and a diagnostic dilemma if suspicion is low. Early meticulous diagnosis and management can curtail morbidity. CONCLUSION: The degree of suspicion needs to be high to diagnose the condition early to prevent both morbidity and inadequate treatment. Histopathological corroboration is needed to rule out uncommon but possible malignant transformation, notably in long standing cases.

It can be treated by surgery with various techniques. Because of limited manipulation and comparably similar results, stapedotomy at present is preferred over other surgical techniques by most surgeons. Here we present the operative results of 35 otosclerotic patients who underwent stapedotomy between January 2009 - October 2010 in the department of Otolaryngology- Head & Neck Surgery of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Shahid Suhrawardhy medical college & hospital, Dhaka. The aim of this study was to evaluate the hearing results following stapedotomy in otosclerosis surgery. The average air-bone gap of patients improved significantly to 21.74 dB after operation. Other hearing parameters of patients (including air conduction, bone conduction, speech discrimination score, and tinnitus) also improved. No patient experienced persis...

The cylinder is located at different vertical locations inside a rectangular duct in order to investigate the effect of the cylinder location on the excitation mechanism of acoustic resonance. During the tests, the acoustic cross-modes of the duct housing the cylinder are self-excited. It is found that the cylinder location affects the process of the flow-excited acoustic resonance and the levels of the generated acoustic pressure. The resonance of a specific acoustic cross-mode is excited when the cylinder is located at its acoustic pressure node, which is the acoustic particle velocity anti-node. However, when the cylinder is shifted away from the pressure node of a certain acoustic cross-mode, a combination of cross-modes is excited and their intensity seems to be proportional to the ratio of the acoustic particle velocities of these modes at the cylinder's location. Moreover, as the cylinder moves closer to the top wall (or the bottom wall) of the rectangular duct, the Strouhal number value decreases due to the interference between the wake of the cylinder and the duct wall. Therefore, the onset of acoustic resonance for this case occurs at a higher value of reduced flow velocity.
