Ayşegül Sutekin, in her master's thesis titled "The Philosophy of Hz. Mevlana and Mevlevism as a Subject in the Works of Western Artists", committed numerous violations of scientific publication ethics by avoiding citing us in her quotations from our book "Mevleviname: Mevleviism in Western Travelogues with Translated Texts and Illustrations".
Makale Yayın Tarihi: 16.11.2022
This criticism proves that the article "Mevlana And The Effects Of Mevlevism On The West World (2020)" by F. Nurcan Sert and Ayşegül Sutekin is plagiarized from the book "Mevleviname".
This article was published in Turkish on April 9, 2021. It was revised by the author and the English translation, also by the author, was published on October 29, 2023, the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye, Atatürk's gift to his nation of which he was the savior.
The book criticizes the sources on which the thesis that there was a Mevlevi convent [Mevlevihane] in Athens, that it was located in and/or around an ancient structure called the Tower of the the Winds, or at least that this Tower was its semahane, which was defended by various writers starting in 1954, is based. The sources cited by its proponents do not confirm the thesis, on the contrary, they report many observations on the symbols, dress and manners of an order that was not the Mevlevis who occupied the Tower.

The bibliography we present here does not claim to include all western travelogues that mention Mevlevis and Mevlevi convents, but it does include a significant portion of them. More than 500 works contain information and documents of historical value, as well as enabling us to capture the western perspective of 338 years backward from the date when Mevleviism lost its official identity.
We are confronted with one of the examples of fabrication, the activity of making things up, which we also encounter in so-called scientists, which has been embodied over the centuries with the contribution of every layer of society and has spread to every layer of society. A mythological king turns into a giant, then a Christian and Muslim saint, and finally a prophet. The holy boxer king Amikos, heil to him!
The impressions of Westerner travelers accumulated over the centuries not only add to our knowledge about the changes in the historical process of the Konya Mevlana's Daergah, but also force us to change one of our preconceptions. This is the preconception that the dome of Mevlana's tomb is and can only be green.
