From the year 2000 onward, Pakistani universities' libraries have been active in this mass digitisation projects. The purpose of this paper is to examine the data and information security measures taken by university libraries to safeguard the intellectual assets of their respective organisations. Researchers adopted a quantitative approach to conduct this study. Data were collected from 190 professional librarians around the country. The findings of the study revealed that majority of libraries are lagging in standardised measures to secure digital resources. It is hoped that the present study will help in suggesting appropriate standards of data and information security within universities' libraries. This study was conducted at the Peshawar Medical College, Peshawar, Pakistan from January 2to April 2017. As the target population was not too large, no sampling technique was employed and census-based approach was adopted. For data collection, the pre-tested questionnaire was distributed among 115 faculty members of both basic and clinical sciences groups with a response rate of 66(57.39%). Data was analysed using SPSS. Among the respondents, 38(57.6%) were males and 28(42.4%) were females. A majority 51 (77.27%) of the respondents used the internet for teaching and research. Library was the most frequently 22 (33.33%) used place for the internet use. Low internet speed, virus on computers and a lack of modern trainings were the major barriers. E-journals, e-books, online databases and theses and dissertations were the major sources consulted by the participants.

The quantitative approach was adopted for this study. The website of Dialogue was used for obtaining metadata about the research papers published during 2014-2016. Google Scholar citation instead of Journal Citation Report was used for the calculation of proposed Impact Factor (IF). The major findings of the study reflect that the proposed calculated Cite Score of the Dialogue for the mentioned period is 0.14 whereas the proposed self-calculated Impact Factor is 0.22. The citation rate of documents published in 2014 was recorded more as compared to the rest of the years. The citation rate should be improved by the inclusion of Dialogue in indexing databases of international repute. This practice will enhance quality of the Journal and will be able to create room in world of Thomson Router and other renowned research databases.
