MEIMAN provides integrated access to insect species thorough sophisticated web interface which has following capabilities a) Graphical interface of seasonality, b) Method of preparation, c) Form of use-edible and medicinal, d) habitat, e) medicinal uses, f) commercial importance and g) economic status. This database will be useful for scientific validations and updating of traditional wisdom in bioprospecting aspects. It will be useful in analyzing the insect biodiversity for the development of virgin resources and their industrialization. Further, the features will be suited for detailed investigation on potential medicinal and edible insects that make MEIMAN a powerful tool for sustainable management.

We investigated the occurrence and genetic diversity of Trichoderma and Hypocrea in Manipur which... more We investigated the occurrence and genetic diversity of Trichoderma and Hypocrea in Manipur which lies in the Indo-Burma biodiversity hot spot region. 65 Trichoderma isolates were identified at species level by morphological as well as sequence based analysis of the internal transcribed spacer region 1 and 4. Altogether 22 different species of Trichoderma and Hypocrea were found, of which Trichoderma harzianum represent the dominant species. Phylogenetic analysis reveals a clear cut distinction of strains isolated from various collection sites which further hints the need for detail study of Trichoderma on molecular level. Methodology: Geography of sample sites Sampling was done from nine different districts of Manipur comprising of four different agro-climatic zones viz. i. Subtropical plain zone, ii. Being poor man's apple, banana has a wide popularity worldwide. It's one of the important horticu... more Being poor man's apple, banana has a wide popularity worldwide. It's one of the important horticultural crops used irrespective of rich and poor alike. Manipur along with the other states of Northeast India harboured with plenty of wild and cultivated species of banana that are not fully explored. A data base named DEBDOM has been developed here describing the diversity of banana resources of Manipur and it comprises twenty eight genotypes of Musaceae. The database DEBDOM provides a sophisticated web base access to the details of the taxonomy, morphological characteristics, utility as well as sites of collection of Musa genotypes, and it would have contribute as a potential gene pool sources for the conservation, sustainability as well as for crop improvement in the future breeding programmes.

CIBMAN provides integrated access to Citrus species through sophisticated web interface which has following capabilities a) morphological details, b) socio-economic details, c) taxonomic details and d) geographical distribution. Morphological variability among Citrus accessions is due to variance in their genome which contributes to diverse agronomical traits and diverse bioactive compounds of high value. Availability: http://ibsd.gov.in/cibman Background: Citrus a delicious tropical fruit crop widely grows in the state of Manipur of NorthEast (NE) Region of India. The aromatic, nutritive and medicinal value of Citrus is integrally associated with day to day lifestyle of peoples of Manipur through ages. Citrus thrives in Manipur as cultivated, semiwild and wild forms, with maximum diversity being maintained in home gardens. The commonly available Citrus fruits in the state are sweet oranges, pumelos, rough lemon, mandarins, wild orange, citron and other Citrus species. Various Citrus forms having acid taste is also widely available with ambiguities in their names. Frequently, people use to call the acid ones as champra or solom, if it is larger one. The rich germplasm of acidic Citrus group is under threat of loss as it is frequently removed from farmer's field or home gardens in exchange for crops of higher economic value. Citrus is valued for the fruit, which is either eaten alone as fresh fruit, processed into juice, pickles or added to dishes and beverages. The rich polyphenolic compounds of Citrus such as flavanoids can act as "functional ingredients" in promotion of health and prevention of degenerative diseases [1-5]. Citrus is also potential source for compounds having high value in perfumery, cosmetic and chemotherapeutic purpose of controlling phytopathogens [6]. The NE Region of India of which Manipur is a part is considered as "natural home for Citrus" [7]. Out of the 27 species reported in India, 23 are confined to NorthEast Region of India [8].
