The World Wide Web is a distributed hypertext system consisting of a virtual network of content and hyperlinks with billions of interlinked pages. Since the Web has no "engineered architecture," it can be understood as a self-organized system with a well-defined structure of linkage that implies an underlying social structure. This article examines the evolution of the Web's emergent social structure and communication network at the level of nation-states. It reviews the literature on the international hyperlink network and then focuses on changes between 2009 and 2010 using data on the frequency of bilateral hyperlinks between nations. The article discusses special problems associated with the top-level domain .com as well as other generic top-level domains that do not refer to specific nations whose domain names refer to commercial or vanity applications.

However, little attention has been given to community structure in Facebook public pages. In this study, we investigate the community detection problem in Facebook newsgroup pages. In particular, to deal with the diversity of user activities, we apply multi-view clustering to integrate different views, for example, likes on posts and likes on comments. In this study, we explore the community structure in not only a given single page but across multiple pages. The results show that our method can effectively reduce isolates and improve the quality of community structure.

National development and social progress rely to a great extent on the mutual understanding and cooperation of linguistic groups. The problems resulting from the lack or distortion of information transfer across cultural boundaries affect the vital areas of science, industry, government, and education. The level of technology and production achieved is directly dependent on the quality of available information. Ethnic minorities and other culture-bound groups, when deprived of the opportunity to develop or adopt to technological innovations, are handicapped in modern competitive economies. Policy decisions in business and government can also be severely distorted by poor communication through inaccurate translation, which can limit political participation and thus the process of national integration. Finally, intercultural understanding as a whole suffers from poor-quality translation because it places groups and individuals into positions of high uncertainty. If information is inaccurate or uninterpretable, the potential for mutual understanding and trust diminishes and the potential for conflict in

The results suggest that the structure is more complex than previously suggested by bibliometric research. There are at least two dimensions that differentiate the divisions/interest groups. As reported in the bibliometric literature, one is a dimension that separates the mass media and the interpersonally oriented divisions. The second differentiates the humanistic from the scientific. One method found a third dimension: theoretical to applied. Cluster analysis based on the actual number of joint memberships found three clusters: humanistic, mediated, and interpersonal. A cluster analysis that controlled for the size of the divisions/interest groups found only two: humanistic and scientific. Blockmodeling of the joint memberships identified four: humanistic, mediated, interpersonal, and information technology.

The international tourism remained relatively stable from 2002 to 2014. The networks of outbound and inbound international tourism have decentralized gradually. Based on a quadratic assignment procedure (QAP) analysis, each of four study years of international tourism network was found to be correlated. The groups formed by CONCOR analysis have similarities in terms of their continent, language, culture, economy, and population. Furthermore, outdegree, indegree, betweenness, eigenvector centrality are correlated with each other, and GDP is correlated with outdegree, indegree, betweenness, eigenvector centrality, and population.

Examples include the synchronization of business cycles, population collapse in patchy ecosystems, markets shifting to a new technology platform, collapses in prices and in confidence in financial markets, and protests erupting in multiple countries. A number of mathematical models of these phenomena have multiple equilibria separated by saddle-node bifurcations. We study this behaviour in its normal form as fast-slow ordinary differential equations. In our model, a system consists of multiple subsystems, such as countries in the global economy or patches of an ecosystem. Each subsystem is described by a scalar quantity, such as economic output or population, that undergoes sudden changes via saddle-node bifurcations. The subsystems are coupled via their scalar quantity (e.g. trade couples economic output; diffusion couples populations); that coupling moves the loca...

Correlations confirmed that new media have displaced international mail, domestic telephone and telex, yet they do not substitute for domestic letters and international telephone calls. Finally, television, mobile telephones and the internet are at the exponential or logistic growth stage and supplement each other.

The results indicate that each of the different crops have a distinctive pattern of trade that has changed over time due to a number of different factors. Also, trade in agricultural commodities became more diversified over time, dominated less by the United States and other nations central in the trade networks and trade in the individual GM crops was stable over time. Countries maintained their trading partners for specific crops, despite the adoption of the genetically modified varieties. The economic implications of these results are discussed for specific countries.
