Suddenly, Orthodox thinkers, particularly those from the former Russian Empire, found themselves living in foreign lands and looking at Orthodoxy through the other end of the looking glass - the West. It was from there that Orthodox theologians were faced with the greatest challenge to their collective religious identity: What did it mean to be Eastern Orthodox outside of the East?

Parushev argues that the integrity of Christian mission is ensured by a holistic approach which witnesses to God's transforming presence in one's life, in pastoral assistance for the down and out, and, in enduring social commitment to challenging, and redeeming those aspects of societal life not in harmony with gospel values. Keywords Kingdom vision, holistic mission, witness, presence, transformation, theological education as mission "Th e Ins and Outs of it" "In it, not of it," the statement was made Now along comes Christian Th ree jogging for Jesus, As Christian One faced the world, much afraid. In witnessing sweats made of four matching pieces.

Parushev: I am a native of Sofia, Bulgaria, and the first part of my life was spent as a scientist. I had gained a BS/MS and PhD (Science) from Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) State University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics, in what then was the Soviet Union. I became a scientific researcher, senior research fellow and finally the head of a laboratory at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences as well as a lecturer, and docent, at the University of Sofia in the field of applied mechanics and robotics. In the estimation of others, I was considered to be a promising researcher in the field of hard science.
