And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, and to love kindness
and mercy, and to humble yourself and walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8)

Oh Hap-Bee Day!

Oh hap-bee day to you, sketch lovin' friends!  Saturday means a new sketch at The Sweet Stop and because it's the third week of the month there's a spin on this one. Since Spring is right around the corner, we want to see birds or bees on your stamping projects this week.  One lucky participant will also be eligible to win a PRIZE...a $15 credit at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps store!

Creative Nugget:  I reached for Bee Happy Rhubarb for my sample this week...he's the most adorable bee....don't you agree!  Here he is, all colored up with Copic Markers and cut with a Hexagon Nestie and mounted on a True Black Scalloped Hexagon.
Lilybeedesign and Studio Calico patterned papers were used for the decorative panels, while the So Saffron panel was embossed with a honeycomb design.  All layers were stitched to True Black mats and attached to a Pure Luxury card base.  The sentiment was stamped on a hand cut banner.  Diamond Stickes adds a bit of sparkle to the wings and pearls were added to Rhubarb's antenna. Doesn't this card just make you want to smile!  Oh Hap-bee day!

For more wonderful inspiration check out the other super talented Sugar Babies!

Rhubarb Goes to School

Happy Saturday!  Hope you had a wonderful week.  It's been another busy one with a new stamp release by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps and Vacation Bible School at our church.  But now it's time to relax with another fabulous sketch from The Sweet Stop!

Can you believe it's August already?  In no time at all, the kids will be heading back to school.  It still seems funny not to be thinking about going back myself, but since retiring, it's nice not to have to worry about prepping a classroom!   One of the new stamp sets released by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps this month is "Back to School Rhubarb," perfect for this time of year!

Creative Nugget:  Reading Rhubarb was stamped onto one of the Decorative Plaque Dies by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps and colored with copic markers.  His fur was given texture with colorless blender ink and an old washcloth...a technique I've been enjoying lately!  Each panel of the Doodlebug Design patterned paper was layered onto Chocolate Chip card stock.  Letters were impressed into the yellow layer using the Book Print Impression Plate and some piercing was added around the border.  A strip of ric-rac and Baker's twine were added across the top panel, and Rhubarb was popped up on top of that.  I wasn't sure where to add the sentiment, so I deviated from the sketch a little by adding a banner to finish the card.

Be sure to check out what the other Sugar Babies have done with this sketch, then play along by entering your card over at The Sweet Stop!

Paradise Vacation

Hello Sweet Stampin' Friends!  Happy "Hump Day!"

Today is my day to post on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog so I thought I would share my sample cards with you as well.

Every once in a while, it's nice to break away from the busyness of life and enjoy a little piece of paradise!  Last week my hubby and I, along with Kody, our golden retriever, took off and headed for our definition of paradise...the beach!  I love to wake up early and look out the window to the beach below and listen to the rhythmic sound of waves breaking on the shore.  That's the scene I tried to create in my card sample for today.

Creative Nugget:  The beach scene from the "Ocean Paradise" clear stamp set was stamped on a piece of Neenah Solar White card stock and colored with Copic Markers.  A little bit of white gel pen and Stickles highlight the waves.  The window die was cut from Barely Banana card stock and mounted on top of the beach scene. Some Baker's twine was used for the tie backs, and a little cheesecloth and shells adorn the window sill.  The wall paper and chair rail were made from some My Mind's Eye "Lost and Found" patterned paper and Smokey Shadow card stock. Everything was mounted on a Smokey Shadow card base.

The inspiration for the colors for this card came from the CR84FN56 challenge which was to use yellow,  gray, and a neutral.

Look who else has found time to relax at the beach...

It's RHUBARB from the new "Summertime Rhubarb" clear stamp set! This set just happens to be the prize up for grabs at The Sweet Stop this week.  Check out the fabulous sketch and play along for a chance to win!

Not everyone can slip away to the beach, so I thought I would bring the beach to you!  I hope you can find time to enjoy a little piece of Paradise wherever you happen to be today!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs,
Cathymac

A Krafty Challenge!

Hello friends!  We've been having such beautiful weather here...it's hard to believe it's "Hump Day" already!  That means it's time for another "Hump Day Challenge" on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps forum over at Splitcoaststampers and yours truly is the host, so I hope you'll join us later this morning!  The challenge today is to use Kraft card stock.  Kraft looks great with whatever color you pair it with and is a fabulous neutral color to work with!  The colors in my sample were inspired by the current CR84FN50 Challenge.

Here's my sample:

Creative Nugget:  The focal image is from the beautiful Flowers in Bloom clear stamp set from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.  It was stamped with VersaMark ink and embossed with Detail White EP. I wasn't sure how my copics would react to the embossing powder, so I grabbed my Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol which haven't seen the light of day in ages!  I liked how vibrant the colors looked on the Kraft card stock.  The edges were sponged with Broken China and Peeled Paint Distress inks. The image was cut and layered onto a scalloped oval Nestie and then onto a distressed doily.  The Kraft DP is by BasicGrey and was stitched to True Black which was stitched to Select White and adhered to a Kraft card base.  To complete the card, lace, ribbon, a rhinestone flourish, pearls, and a little punched butterfly were added!

My next card is a CASE!  Harriet was the Featured Stamper on Splitcoaststampers this past Sunday, and she truly is the Queen of Clean!  I am NOT good at clean and simple cards, so I love to CASE those who are.  Harriet's Way to Use Buttons card is HERE and Her wonderful gallery can be found HERE!

Creative Nugget:  This card literally took only fifteen minutes to complete...a definite record for me!  I love just the one red colored balloon covered in Glossy Accents!  What do you think?

I hope you've found some Inkspiration today!  Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by for a visit!  I appreciate it!

Hugs,
Cathymac

Celebrating Rhubarb

Hello Friends!  I hope you had wonderful weekend!  It's my day to post on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog, so I thought I would share that post here. I LOVE new releases and last Thursday Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps released six fabulous new clear stamp sets PLUS matching dies, so today I decided to celebrate...with that most adorable bear...Rhubarb! The card I made for today is a Tri-Shutter Card and the tutorial for this fancy fold can be found over at Splitcoaststampers under the resources tab.

Creative Nugget: The front of the card features Rhubarb from the new Rhubarb's Birthday Wish clear stamp set. Rhubarb is colored with copic markers and the balloons were given a coat of Glossy Accents. The patterned paper is from the BasicGrey Lauderdale Paper Pad. Do you see those stars and the star border? The Stars Die Set has four different sizes of stars and the star border is included in the Hearts & Stars Scallop Border Die Set!  Can I just tell you how much I LOVE Sweet 'n Sassy dies...they cut like butter!

This is a picture of the back of the card.  The banner in the middle section was made with the new
Pennants and More Dies. The tickets were made with the new Ticket
clear stamp set.

And here's the whole card opened up.

I had so much fun decorating this card with some of my new stamps and dies. I hope I've inspired you to check out the new release at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store and to try a Tri-Shutter card of your own!  This is the day that the Lord has made, let us be glad and rejoice in it...and maybe find some time to do some stamping! Have a wonderful day!  Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs,
Cathymac

Bear Hugs

Happy snowy Saturday to you!  Yes...as I sit here writing this post, snow has finally decided to make an appearance here in the east coast. Although I love its quiet, pristine beauty, I dislike having to drive in it and I have two clients to see today, so I'll need to give myself plenty of time. We tend to panic a little here at the first sight of the fluffy, white stuff! LOL!  Enough of that, it's time for The Sweet Stop sketch, and one with a twist...a Valentine with unconventional colors!

Creative Nugget:  Blue hearts with mauve, orange, green and black seemed a little unconventional to me, so this Bo Bunny patterned paper was used on a Lavender Moon card base.  The other layers were added, following the sketch.  The mauve piece behind Rhubarb was given some texture with a Sizzix heart embossing folder, then swiped with a New Canvas stamp pad to make the hearts stand out a little more. The Labels Seventeen die was cut and sponged with some green at the bottom and clouds sponged on the top.  The tree, from Love is Like a Tree clear stamp set, was stamped on top of the sponging.  Rhubarb, from Love From Rhubarb, was colored with copic markers, cut out, and popped up in front of the tree.  The blue heart he is holding along with the hearts falling off the tree were covered with Glossy Accents and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  A black ribbon found in my stash and Kaiser pearls finish the card.  And there you have another fabulous sketch by Korin!

And here's the Christmas version.

Don't forget to stop and see the other samples by the Sugar Babies. Then play along over at The Sweet Stop for a chance to win a set of four star dies!

Blast From the Past

Hope everyone had a wonderful week!  Welcome back for another Sweet Stop sketch.  For the month of October, we'll be taking a look at some fabulous sketches from the past, so for the next five Saturdays, get ready to play along with this "Blast From the Past!"

Creative Nugget: Since it's the beginning of October, I decided to go with an autumn theme for my sample, and who better to celebrate the beginning of a new month in fall than Rhubarb!  This image is from Sweet 'n Sassy's "Rhubarb's Autumn Joys" stamp set.  Rhubarb was colored with copic markers, cut with a square nestie, then mounted on an Early Espresso layer.  The designer papers used for this card are from Grandma's Kitchen by Were Are Memory Keepers.  The pattern reminded me of falling leaves and I thought it would be the perfect background to match the falling leaves in the image.  All panels are attached to an Early Espresso card base.  The corner leaf accent and the sentiment banner are both Spellbinder dies.  The pearls, descending in size, some piercing, double stitched ribbon, and Baker's twine finish the card!

This design is one of the very first Sweet Stop sketches from the past, so I hope you'll check out the samples by the other Sugar Babies and play along with us this week!

Student Survival

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  Even though I'm not heading back to school this year, school is still very much on my mind.  All of the retired elementary teachers from my school district get together for breakfast on the first day of school, and this year I got to join them...fun without the pressure!  That being said...it's my turn to share a project over at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog and so naturally I have a school project for you.  September is the time for back to school cards and projects and Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps has some fabulous stamp sets and digi images just perfect for those projects.  Now that many students are back into the school routine, they may be needing a little student survival.

Creative Nugget:  Here is everybody's favorite teddy, Rhubarb, with a student survival kit packed with items every student needs to make it through another year!  The "Back to School Rhubarb" digi was colored with copic markers, cut out, and popped onto the cello bag topper layered with Echo Park DP.  The tag was made by cutting a Spellbinders label die in red, white, and blue and then pieced together.  The lettering on the tag was made with a JustRite stamper and the cute little apple is a digi image called "Apple of My Eye."

On the back of the topper is an explanation of why each item is in the survival kit.  (Click on the picture for a better view.)  The little "Back 2 School Pencil Holder" digi is also available at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store.  Survival kits are a cute gift idea that can be taylor made to let a special person know that you are thinking about them.  Check out Sawyers Specialties for other suggestions for survival kits or come up with your own ideas.  Then have fun putting your own kit together! Thanks for stopping by...have a wonderful Wednesday!

Hugs,
Cathymac

Buttons and Fibers and Bears...Oh My!

Happy Saturday to you all!  I'm so glad you stopped in for a visit because it's time for another Sweet Stop sketch!  This week's sketch has a spin and that is to use fabulous fibers.  I love button twine and Baker's twine, but wasn't sure how I was going to use it in a unique way until I saw Stef's inspiration challenge from last Saturday at SCS.   Blumenthal Lansing is the place to shop for buttons and this FRIENDS picture frame provided the needed inspiration.

Creative Nugget:  Since it's time for many students and teachers to head back to school, I chose Reading Rhubarb, a Sweet 'n Sassy digi image, as the subject for my card, but turned Rhubarb into Rhubarbette by adding a skirt and a bow.  The skirt was made with a piece of ruffled ribbon with the top ruffle cut off and adhered to a piece of button twine for the little waist band.  The image was colored with copic markers.  The frame was made with rectangle nesties and buttons strung with Baker's twine.  Easy-peasy...but oh so cute!  The circle part of the sketch was layered onto a fleur de lis motif die from Spellbinders.  The frame and the circle were then layered onto a piece of Cosmo Cricket DP.  I had so much fun making the button frame that I decided to do another one.

Now it's your turn to grab some fibers and this week's sketch and join the fun!  There's even a chance to win the "Seeing Spots" clear stamp set from the Sweet 'n Sassy Store!  While you're at it, don't forget to stop over at The Sweet Stop and see what the other Sugar Babies have done.  You will be amazed at all the creative ways to use fibers on your cards!   Thanks for spending some time with me today...just as the sentiment on my sketch card says...you my friends are such a blessing to me!  Thank you for your many kind comments.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Sweet Peek - Rhubarb's Autumn Joys

Yea!  The weekend has rolled around again and I have two posts for you today so if you've decided to tune in, be sure to scroll down for The Sweet Stop sketch sample!

Today is day six of the Sweet Peeks over at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps!  If you love Rhubarb, you will LOVE this new set being released next week on August 15th.  Rhubarb's Autumn Joys contains not one, not two, but three adorable fall Rhubarb images and six wonderful sentiments perfect for every autumn occasion.

Creative Nugget:  Fall is my absolute favorite season of the year because of all the beautiful, warm colors.  The Rhubarb image on my card was colored with these warm colors using copic markers.  Don't you just love the leaves falling all around him in all of their fall splendor?  This panel was put on a scalloped oval, and then on a wonderful piece of Basic Grey's Indian Summer DP that was stitched to a piece of Select White card stock.  More pumpkins were embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder at the bottom of an orange zest panel.  The top of the embossed pumpkins was cut with a craft knife so the Rhubarb panel could be tucked behind.  Two ribbons were layered and tucked behind the pumpkins as well.  The 1/4 inch white silk ribbon was stained with a scattered straw distress ink pad.  The bow was made with the Bow-Easy.  The cute sentiment was punched out with a word window punch and popped up on  the ribbon.  If you like this sample be sure to stop over at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog to see what the other talented design team members have created with Rhubarb's Autumn Joys, and then join us at The Sweet 'n Sassy Connection for all of the fun activities, full reveals,....and some exciting news on the 15th of August!

Babies Are a Blessing

As you read this, I'll be heading back from another glorious week at the beach!  Even so...it is Saturday, and time for another fabulous sketch at The Sweet Stop!  Korin always has the most amazing sketches and this one is no exception...I know you will enjoy working with it!

Inspirational Nugget:  One of the ladies who helps me with my Cherubs class at church on Wednesday evenings is very excited about her new grandson, so I used this week's Sweet Stop sketch to make a baby card for her.  Not having been able to have children of my own, I'm always thrilled to hear how others have been blessed with the birth of a new little one!  Children really are a  blessing, and what an awesome responsibility it is to raise them in the love and admonition of the Lord.  Having been a teacher for thirty-five years, it just breaks my heart to see children neglected.  When I looked the word "children" up in my Concordance, I was amazed by the hundreds (too many to count), of scripture references there were.  "Train up a child in the way he should go,  Even when he is old he will not depart from it."  (Proverbs 22:6)  "Fathers, do not exasperate your children, that they may not lose heart."  (Colossians 3:21)  "Behold, children are a gift of the Lord;  The fruit of the womb is a reward.  How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them;"  (Psalms 127:3, 5)  Take time to enjoy your children today...and give them a hug from me!  Now...on to my card.

Creative Nugget:  I just love all of the adorable Rhubarb images, but used this baby Rhubarb digi  from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps for my card.  The onesie is from a PTI set called "Bitty Baby Blessings."  Both images were colored with Copic Markers.  One of the little sailboats was punched from the Echo Park DP and added to the front of the onesie.  I used my Sew Mini to add stitching to the panels and the scallop border punch gives the illusion  of waves for the sailboats on the DP.  The sentiment is from another Sweet 'n Sassy stamp set called "Little One."  One of the things I love about Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps are the many wonderful verses that come with each set!  Now check out what the other Sugar Babies have done with SSS119 and come join the fun!
