Glitter, Stamps, & Ink

Hi friends!  I've been working on Christmas cards and this is one of the cards I created using a new stamp from Verses Rubber Stamp.  This one is called Christmastime Treasure and I've stamped this directly onto some patterned paper and added a poinsettia to the side.  The inside is stamped with the Merry Christmas Curved stamp which you can see below - isn't that curvy font awesome??  Check out all the fabulous Christmas stamps at Verses Rubber Stamps - I want them all!  :-)

Hi friends!  I hope you're having a wonderful weekend.  We've been on the road for most of the day and I'm just now sitting down at my computer at 8pm!  LOL

Have you seen all the new Cheery Lynn Designs dies that were just released? I fell in love with this new Birch Tree with Cute Critters die and bought it as soon as I saw it. This tree will work beautifully with any season, and since it is fall, I created a fall card today.

I started with a dark brown card base (A2 size) and added a layer of the gorgeous autumn paper from the Autumn Song 6x6 paper pad. I die cut the Birch Tree from white cardstock and then sponged some brown distress ink onto the edges. The little critters cut out at the same time the tree is die cut, so I pulled the owl out and sponged him very heavily with brown ink.

I adhered the tree to the left side of my card and cut off the excess tree limbs that were hanging over the edge. The owl was affixed to a tree branch with a Joy foam pad to give it some dimension. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment from Anytime Sentiments (Impression Obsession) with dark brown ink right below the owl.

This card is quick and easy and the gorgeous colors in that autumn paper really give it a WOW factor. There are no bulky embellishments on this card, so I can write a little note inside and pop it in the mail with a regular First Class postage stamp. 

Howdy, friends!  Are you enjoying your fall weather?  Today is starting out rather warm and humid, but hopefully there is some rain on the way to cool things down for us.  I think by the end of the week, we should have some real fall temperatures!  I'm excited!  :-)

Today's card focuses on the sunflower and some warm fall colors. I started with a mustard card base and I added a dark brown layer. The vanilla background layer is a sheet of paper from the French Country 6x6 paper pad, and I stamped a rooster background (Impression Obsession) on it with Antique Linen distress ink. I wanted a very pale and distressed stamping so I lightly tapped the inkpad over the rooster background and gently pressed it onto the vanilla paper. I love how it turned out! Then I stamped the sentiment from Autumn Blessings in dark brown ink onto the bottom left corner of the paper.

Next, I cut two strips of paper from the same French Country 6x6 paper pad (solid red and dark brown text), and then cut notches in the bottom with scissors. I layered them on the right side of the paper, overlapping them slightly. A strip of mustard cardstock was cut with the Anastasia border die (Cheery Lynn Designs) and adhered at the top of the card.

Some leaves were cut from olive cardstock using the Rose Leaf strip die (Cheery Lynn Designs) and glued down onto the card. The Sunflower die was cut twice from a soft yellow paper from the French Country 6x6 paper pad. I sponged the tips with mustard ink and adhered the two sunflowers together. The center of the sunflower was cut from brown cardstock and then I added some sparkle to it by embossing it with Brown Fizz embossing powder. Isn't that a gorgeous shimmery brown??




I love the warm colors on this card and that touch of glittery goodness on the flower. You can still see the piercing through the embossing powder - so cool! If I would have covered this with glitter, it would have covered up all the intricate piercing that happens when you die cut this sunflower center.

I've created two projects to share with you today.  The first one uses the Faux Silk Designer Paper technique, and I've used a wonderful vintage stamp called Girl Reading from About Art Accents (one of our TJ vendors) on this card.  There is a subtle shimmer in my background because of the secret ingredient used in the Faux Silk Designer Paper technique.  I love using this Faux Silk Designer Paper technique with vintage stamps like these - they are just made for each other!  :-)



For my second card, I've used the Dimensional Rounded Petals technique.  This technique produces a cool, retro, ultra-hip flower with lots of dimension and texture.  I added a couple of buttons tied with twine to the center.

Isn't that pink??? LOL I created this card using dies from the new Blueprints #3 and #4 die sets and various shades of pink cardstock. I started by stamping the sentiment from You Are Beautiful (Impression Obsession) with black ink at the top of the white layer. Then I cut eight layers of the scallop border from the Blueprints #4 die set - two each of four different colors.

I started by layering the darkest pink scallop borders at the bottom, then the next shade of pink, then the lightest shade of pink and I ended with two layers of white scallops. I then cut the darkest shade of pink cardstock with the pierced straight border die from Blueprints #3 and adhered that above the white scallops. I trimmed the excess borders from the sides of the white layer and then adhered this layer to a dark pink card base (A2 size).

Next, I cut the three shades of pink cardstock with the small flower die from the Blueprints #3 die set. I pinched the petals with my fingers to give them a little dimension before adhering some white buttons to the centers and then I affixed the flowers to the card.

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I thought the pink colors and that wonderful sentiment would be perfect for someone who might be going through chemotherapy or radiation. Hopefully this card will put a smile on her face and brighten her day.  All the cards I create for the Hope challenges will be mailed to the Anderson Medical Center for the patients to use.

Hi stampy friends!  I have a pretty one layer card to share with you today. Yup, just one layer - the card base - is all I have on my card today! :-)

I began with a white card base, cut to 8.5" x 5.5", and then folded it in half to make a regular A2 sized card. I started by laying down the Aqua Antique Floral Washi Tape on the right side of the card and and then cut it at an angle. Then I added a longer strip of the Black with Pink Floral Washi Tape right below the Aqua tape. Aren't those floral washi tapes gorgeous?? I'm in love with these!

Next, I stamped the sentiment from the Old Tea Rose set (Flourishes) above the Aqua tape and set my card aside while I worked on my die cuts. I cut the Gardenia Strip flowers (Cheery Lynn Designs) from a rose cardstock and glued the layers together. I curled the edges of the flowers down with some hemostats, and then I sprayed the flower with Cranberry Zing Glimmer Mist. This adds a gorgeous color to my flower as well as a wonderful shimmer.

While my Gardenia flower was drying, I cut out some pale pink flowers from the Sweet William Strip (Cheery Lynn Designs) and glued the two smallest flowers together. After pinching the petals with my fingers, I added White Pearls to the centers. I also added a large White Pearl to the center of the Gardenia flower after it was completely dry.

I then set about cutting some leaves from green cardstock, the Ivy Strip die (Cheery Lynn Designs), and the Wreath Strip die(Cheery Lynn Designs). The Gardenia flower was glued down on my card first, and then I added the Ivy Strip leaves underneath my flower. I glued the Sweet William flowers down on each side of my Gardenia flower and added more Ivy Strip leaves. Finally, some Wreath Strip greenery was added around the Gardenia flower.
