SOSS #255 - H for Halloween

The latest Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #255 calls for your Halloween creations.

I used CC Designs Billy from Hocus Pocus (love that movie, naturally!). The scene where he grabs the knife and cuts open his stitched mouth to yell invectives at Winnie is hilarious.

Crawlsome Birthdays

I had not intended to get the Lawn Fawn Sweet Spiders sets but they were too cute to resist.  Yes, I found a spider cute.

I used the MFT Spider Web Cover-Up cut from glitter cardstock for the web and sponged on the cardstock to pull focus to the center of the web.

Now these are meant as October birthday cards so I added little birthday hats and the presents among the candy.  I told you--CUTE!

ATCAS #247 - Mask

The code word for the latest Addicted to CAS Challenge is "Mask."  So many possibilities.

I have two types of masking on my card.  I masked the images to create a one layer card which features the cutest masked Michael Myers (from the movie Halloween if you've been living under a rock).

That movie freaked me the heck out. I remember my mom had the type of knitting needles Jamie Curtis used toward the end of the film and that was a hard no for me.

Who knew a serial killer scene could be cute?  And check out that punny sentiment. Ack!

OMG!  I realized just now that this is Jason, the serial killer from Friday the 13th.  Oops!  I guess I'm the one who's been living under a rock--LOL!

Whimsy - No Fuss Instant Masks

I was so curious and excited (and honored) when Whimsy Stamps asked me if I wanted to test drive a new product coming out. Umm, yes, please.  It's such a great company with innovative ideas and cute products so how could I not?!

You should have heard me squealing when I opened up the package.  The no fuss masks are absolutely brilliant!

I regularly employ masking on my cards despite my dislike of fussy cutting so I cannot more clearly state how excited I was to use these.  No cutting, perfect fit, sturdy, and a good value with 4 sheets per package (so 4 masks per image). Win, win, win!

I was able to use the No Bones About It No Fuss Instant Masks 3 times for my first card. The first was figuring out my card layout, the second putting the mask back on after I decided to add the brick stenciling and the third a redo of the whole thing without the sentiment which I had originally stamped on the gravestone. I noticed that the edges of the mask were starting to come up after all those uses.  No big deal as I could just pull out another of the masks if needed.  Woo hoo!

On my second card I used more ink when blending and ripped the mask at the skeleton's neck/collarbone as I was removing it from my test card. Dang! When I worked up the real card, I used an exacto knife in that area and was able to remove the mask easily without tearing so I can use it again in the future.

I should mention that the area where I tore the mask was really tiny so I wasn't able to piece it back together for another try.  For a more solid image mask, I think I could have.

Again, these No Fuss Instant Masks are a brilliant concept and something I would definitely add to my cart when I'm buying the stamps.
