Augmented reality (AR) is a technology which is
getting more popular in recent years. Augmented reality can
work with many platforms, such as mobile devices, embedded
and desktop systems. As it has many applicable area, one of the
efficient area of AR is education. Supporting materials must be
used to improve the quality of learning in education. Especially
innovative tools that support visual learning method has an
important place in education. The studies which revealed the
significance of the visual education increased the needs for the
advanced educational materials. In this study, we have tried to
give information about augmented reality and innovative tools
that support visual learning methods. A sample innovative
augmented reality application has been given for education. We
indicate the methodology of the study and application results.

Günümüzde yabancı dil öğrenimi insanlar için çok önemli bir noktaya gelmiştir. Yabancı dil öğrenirken öğrencilerin en çok zorlandığı kısım kelime öğrenme safhasıdır. Kelime bilgisi bir dili konuşmak ve öğrenmek için vazgeçilmez unsurlardandır. Tasarlanan model ile bu sorunun ortadan kaldırılması amaçlanmıştır. Bilgisayar ve internet teknolojisini kullanarak kişilere belirli bir zaman ayırdıkları taktirde kelime hazinelerini arttırabilecek bir sistem oluşturulmuştur. Tasarlanan sistem ile kelimeleri anlamlarına göre öğrenmenin yanı sıra bu kelimelere ait örnek kullanımlar ve bir dilden diğer dile veya tam tersi şekilde öğrenilmesine olanak tanır. Bununla birlikte, uzun süreli hafızaya yönelik öğrenme teknikleri kullanılarak geliştirilmiş öğrenme modeli ile istenildiği kadar kelime eklenebilmekte ve yapılan istatistiki bilgi ile kişinin kelimeyi öğrenme kapasitesi ölçülerek kişiye özel bir öğrenme gerçekleştirilebilmektedir. Gerçekleştirilen bu işlemler web tabanlı olarak çalışmakta ve yer ve mekandan bağımsız olarak öğrenciler internet üzerinden sisteme bağlanıp istenilen zaman ve yerde öğrenmeye devam edebilmektedir.

In this paper, it is proposed a new methodology based on invariant moments and multi-class support vector machine (MCSVM) for classification of human parasite eggs in microscopic images. The MCSVM is one of the most used classifiers but it has not used for classification of human parasite eggs to date. This method composes four stages. These are pre-processing stage, feature extraction stage, classification stage, and testing stage. In pre-processing stage, the digital image processing methods, which are noise reduction, contrast enhancement, thresholding, and morphological and logical processes. In feature extraction stage, the invariant moments of pre-processed parasite images are calculated. Finally, in classification stage, the multi-class support vector machine (MCSVM) classifier is used for classification of features extracted feature extraction stage. We used MATLAB software for estimating the success classification rate of proposed approach in this study. For this aim, proposed approach was tested by using test data. At end of test, 97.70% overall success rates were obtained.

A numerical work was performed to examine the heat transfer and fluid flow due to natural convection in a porous triangular enclosure with a centered conducting body. The center of the body was located onto the gravity center of the right-angle triangular cavity. The Darcy law model was used to write the governing equations and they were solved using a finite difference method. Results are presented by streamlines, isotherms, mean and local Nusselt numbers for the different parameters such as the Rayleigh number, thermal conductivity ratio, and height and width of the body. It was observed that both height and width of the body and thermal conductivity ratio play an important role on heat and fluid flow inside the cavity.

A two-dimensional solution of natural convection in solid adiabatic thin fin attached to porous right triangular enclosures has been analyzed numerically. The vertical wall of the enclosure is insulated while the bottom and the inclined walls are isothermal. The temperature of the bottom wall is higher than the temperature of the inclined wall. Governing equations, which are written using Darcy model, are solved via the finite difference technique. The Successive Under Relaxation (SUR) method was used to solve linear algebraic equations. Dimensionless location of the thin fin from 0.2 to 0.6, the aspect ratio of triangular enclosure from 0.25 to 1, Rayleigh number from 100 to 1000 and the dimensionless height of the fin from 0.1 to 0.4 are used as governing parameters that are effective on heat transfer and fluid flow. Results for the mean Nusselt number, velocity profiles, the contour maps of the streamlines and isotherms are presented. It is observed that the thin fin can use as a passive control element for flow field, temperature distribution and heat transfer.

The importance of clean energy sources was realised rapidly after the negative effects of the pollution caused by generators on the environment became clear. Wind energy is a clean and renewable energy source whose applications exist worldwide. Some countries changed their national energy forward planning for renewable clean energy projects. In developed countries some researchers have worked on developing new kinds of wind turbines in order to produce a part of their power from renewable wind energy. The rotational speed of the wind blades can be increased using steering aerofoils surrounding the blades. A prototype of this wind turbine has been made in the laboratory; a ventilator whose flow rate is variable generates the 'wind'. The blade profiles are designed using the theory of aerodynamics. The steering aerofoils are fixed surrounding the wind blades at an optimum distance. The number of the aerofoils and the angle of inclination (tilt) of the foils can be changed. In the experiment the ambient conditions are held constant. Because of the optimum adjustment of the distance and angle of the aerofoils the rotational speed of the blades can be increased by 32% on the experimental device. In this paper the theoretical and experimental results will be discussed.

A numerical study has been performed to obtain combined convection field in an inclined porous lid-driven enclosures heated from one wall with a non-uniformly heater. The lid moves at constant speed and temperature. Darcy-Brinkman-Forchheimer model was adopted to write governing equations and they solved using finite volume method. A detailed parametric study has been presented for different Reynolds numbers (10 ≤ Re ≤ 1000), Grashof numbers (10 4 ≤ Gr ≤ 10 5), Darcy numbers (0.01 ≤ Da ≤ 0.1), porosity (0.6 ≤ ε ≤ 0.9) and inclination angle of enclosure (0° ≤ φ ≤ 180°). It is observed that flow field, temperature distribution and heat transfer are affected by inclination angle of the enclosure.

Millions of people in the world suffer from urinary incontinence and overactive bladder with the major causes for the symptoms being stress, urge, overflow and functional incontinence. For a more effective treatment of these ailments, a detailed understanding of the urinary flow dynamics is required. This challenging task is not easy to achieve due to the complexity of the problem and the lack of tools to study the underlying mechanisms of the urination process. Theoretical models can help find a better solution for the various disorders of the lower urinary tract, including urinary incontinence, through simulating the interaction between various components involved in the continence mechanism. Using a lumped parameter analysis, a one-dimensional, transient mathematical model was built to simulate a complete cycle of filling and voiding of the bladder. Both the voluntary and involuntary contraction of the bladder walls is modeled along with the transient response of both the internal and external sphincters which dynamically control the urination process. The model also includes the effects signals from the bladder outlet (urethral sphincter, pelvic floor muscles and fascia), the muscles involved in evacuation of the urinary bladder (detrusor muscle) as well as the abdominal wall musculature. The necessary geometrical parameters of the urodynamics model were obtained from the 3D visualization data based on the visible human project. Preliminary results show good agreement with the experimental results found in the literature. The current model could be used as a diagnostic tool for detecting incontinence and simulating possible scenarios for the circumstances leading to incontinence.

In this paper, a novel nature inspired algorithm for continuous optimization of numerical functions has been proposed. The algorithm is inspired from the circular wave created from a water drop when it falls to a still water. Algorithm itself has been developed with the purpose of distributed working thus kept as embarrassingly parallel as possible. Proposed algorithm is tested with eight different benchmark functions and up to thirty dimensions. The experimental results are promising and encouraging for further research studies.

A numerical analysis has been performed to investigate the effects of fin location onto the bottom wall of a triangular enclosure filled with porous media whose height base ratio is 1. The temperature of the bottom wall is higher than that of the inclined wall while the vertical wall is insulated. Thus, the fin divides the heated bottom wall to two separate regions. Finite difference method was applied to solve governing equations which are written using Darcy method. Solutions of algebraic equations were made by Successive Under Relaxation (SUR) technique. The effective parameters on flow and temperature fields are: Rayleigh number, location center of fin, dimensionless fin height, and dimensionless fin width. The obtained results indicated that the fin can be used as a control element for heat transfer and fluid flow.
