Propósito de formación:
El propósito de la UDI #6 es proveer a los estudiantes de una temática útil y de uso diario, la cual le
permitirá más adelante interactuar con otros en una segunda lengua.

Objetivo:
Identificar y describir diferentes tipos de climas teniendo en cuenta las estaciones en inglés.

Desempeños:
• Describir el clima de su ciudad: Santa Marta usando vocabulario en inglés.
• Identifica las diferentes estaciones en inglés.
• Sigue las instrucciones dadas en la UDI #6 para desarrollar las actividades propuestas.

• Exploro lo que voy a aprender.

WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE?


Weather is all around us and it changes
every day. It is what it feel like outside. The weather can be warm or hot, cool or cold,
rainy, snowy, stormy or windy. The weather is
very helpful to people, plants and animals who need sun and rain to live. Weather
around the world is different because of the location of the country. For example,
Colombia is geographical proximity to the equator. The weather in Colombia does not
depend on the typical seasons—spring, summer, winter, and autumn. In fact, the climate
in Colombia is

quite fixed and consistent, an attribute also attributed to its closeness to the equator.
Although there are rainy, dry, and breezy seasons in different regions of Colombia, most
Colombian cities experience relatively the same climate and temperatures year round.

ACTIVITY #5 – Read the article about Medellin and its climate. Then, write a similar one
related to Santa Marta city. (Lea el artículo sobre Medellín y su clima. Luego, escribe uno similar relacionado
con la ciudad de Santa Marta.)

Medellin is located at an intermediate altitude, 1,500 meters. The climate in Medellin is warm and
overcast. Over the course of the year, the lower temperature are around 17/18°C, while higher
temperature are around 26/29°C. The temperature in Medellin varies so little throughout the year,
for that we can say there are only hot and cold seasons. However, the rains in Medellin are more
abundant per year, and there is no decrease from June to August, so the best time here is from
December to February, since it is the only relatively dry period.
