Argh, Help?
Okay, I just noticed I have a silly, stupid thing I can't fix. I made an archive box to put on my archive pages, but as you can see, it is showing the items in the archive box in the table of contents. I tried removing the NOEDITSECTION from the archive box, that didn't work, and I can't see why on earth it sees them as sections, when they aren't under headers. Help me figure that out and make it not show the archives in the TOC, pretty pretty please? ~*~Hug~*~ Ariel♥Gold 11:58, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you, thank you dear! I tried for hours to use the normal "Wiki table" syntax, but could not remotely get it to look like I wanted, so resorted to importing HTML code, and I guess that was the issue. You're so wonderful to fix it so quickly! ~*Hug*~ Ariel♥Gold 12:54, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Hi
I stumble upon your userpage and saw that it was nicely made. And I was wondering how you create your userpage so well put? Zenlax 12:59, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
R:128.40.76.3
Welcome back! Just in case you missed User:R:128.40.76.3 while you were gone, let me draw your attention to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Adam Greves for more suspicious shenanigans. Pete.Hurd 18:08, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Oh, I see there's already a section for this now self-described troll; see [1] where he edits his user page to read "This user has begun trolling under a new username." with the edit summary "catch me if you can Pete!" — I would suggest that this account now be block and that all keep an eye out for the new accounts.
Welcome back, Sharon. --Jack Merridew 12:56, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Sock puppet whack-a-mole, etc
Thanks for the kind message, I'll take the suggestion to run for the mop under advisement (certainly won't in the next few months, but I'll warn you if I start warming to the idea). About that AfD, I see no need for special action, it's eventual outcome is certain. About our friend, I'm of two minds. One of which is the feeling that with such a history of sockpuppetry, blocking all of his accounts will just lead to a long game of whack-a-mole. While I don't really see him making a huge positive contribution (some of his edits *are* actually constructive) I think leaving him one unblocked account may result in the least wasted effort cleaning up after him in the long term. I'm not firmly convinced this is the right course of action, but that's my current thinking. Best regards, Pete.Hurd 20:23, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- I had not noticed this when I posted above; I will trust our hostess to make the right call. --Jack Merridew 13:08, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Finished the "A's"
Phaedriel, I have finished the "A's" in the porno catagory. I have had some feedback from another admin in which they went in and put some info back. I do not think the info should be included because of it's advertisement relationships to personal escorting. I have removed links from various pages that take individuals to these subjects personal escorting for hire pages. Some of the things they had on there could have made fish blush. I am trying to get into heaven, I can't afford to read that kind of stuff! LOL Just kidding. I am trying to get into heaven though! Anyway, could you look over these things before I go any further and give me an opinion please? Many blessings Junebug52 13:22, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- (butting in)I understand your concern, this a common issue for articles on people in this industry. The problem is that those performers don't get much mainstream coverage so you have to take sources where you can get them. The folks who pay attention to those topics (many of whom follow WP:P*) have seemingly come to a previous consensus to allow these links as sources for non-controversial information. If you remove them on your own, you're probably going to run into opposition from more than one editor. Looks like you've been communicating on the issue via talk pages, this is the right way to go. When I run into this sort of thing, I usually check with User:AnonEMouse, who always excellent advice regarding WP:BLP issues. Just my two cents... Videmus Omnia Talk 14:17, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Videmus, I agree with you. I have been very cognizant to the rules and the fine line. If it is a blatant advertisement, I will remove it. I took one out this morning that really had no redeeming encyclopedic reference other than his escorting services and skills as a paid escort. That to me was a baltant advertisement and lent nothing to the validity of the article. Those are the things I am looking for. If I meet with opposition, then I usually will take it to the talk pages for some kind of advice. But I do so appreciate everyone working with me to clean this thing up! It has been a long time coming and I am glad that I can give some kind of small contribution to the cause! Sometimes we feel like we are not making a difference, but then sometimes we feel like we are changing the world a little bit at a time. Junebug52 15:27, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- Dear Junebug, first, let me congratulate you for the great work you've done so far, and you have my enthusiastic support to continue with the task. I'd also like to say that the words of Videmus are thoughtful, and an excellent advice, and I encourage you to listen to him and AnonEMouse. One thing for sure is, try not to get into disputes that can be avoided with a little communication. The task ahead is so immense, that cleaning up most of the articles in question and leaving the most contentious ones would be a superb accomplishment in itself. Again, way to go! Love, Phaedriel - 20:57, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

- I am glad it was a good edit. :) Yes, it's nice to edit protected pages, as long as those edits help other people (and of course, the encylopedia itself). Regarding the E-mail, I actually am going to respond, don't worry; I just haven't quite got around to doing it yet. :) Acalamari 21:09, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Long time no see, dear Erica! :) What a wonderful surprise it was to see you again, and as a nominator of Dreadstar no less! It's wonderful to encounter old friends like you again, and I hope we remain in contact from now on, sounds ok? Lots of love, Phaedriel - 11:00, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Not sure how to handle this one. He appeared to be making vandalism edits to User:CME46 [2] He claimed, both in the ES there, and in his own talk page that he's the same user as CME46, and that CME46 was incorrectly blocked for being a sockpuppet.[3] Now, the problem is I thought that blocked users could edit their own Userpages. (I know for sure they can edit their own talk pages), unless they are protected. But the userpage can't be protected or DNEDS couldn't edit it. Maybe I'm wrong. So, if we WP:AGF that he is that user, can't edit the page as that user, then we look deeper and find why that user is blocked.[4] So, it's User:Andrew Lin evading a block. The problem is, on that user's talk page he is very anti-soda-drinking. It seems from the evidence that if DNEDS is not who he says he is, he's vandalising User:CME46. If he is who he says he is, he's likely User:Andrew Lin avoiding his ban, again. What think you? — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 23:20, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Request for userpage design
I would like it designed with the following criteria:
- All of my subpages should be linked to, with samplings on the main page.
- I will add more criteria later.
Laleena 16:47, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- So, I want blue, as on Jimbo's page. Also, I think I would rather that my subpages merge with my user page, and after that's done, delete the subpages, please. I also would like the tabs with user subpages to look like your user page, so that's that. Thanks, Laleena 00:53, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
some strange templates and their creator
I just stumbled upon these. They are actually a bit amusing, but I see them going to TFD and redlink-land. Their creator could use a bit of friendly advice, too.

Dear Phaedriel
Thank you for you lovely poem, I enjoyed reading it. As a coincidence, I was catching up on what I had missed during my Break. I've decided to come back with a much cooler head, but probably at this time as there's a 300 page backlog at CAT:CSD, and counting, so if you want to help, I'd appreciate it, but you don't have to. :) Maxim(talk) 23:28, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Maybe I'm missing something, but it looks like the edit history from Lisa Faulkner got lost as you were cleaning up the page move vandalism. Or was this intended? Can you check? Thanks. --Ed (Edgar181) 11:48, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Your two cents are requested.
I remember seeing your user page way back in the day and thinking "one day i'm going to have to ask this person for help." I don't really know why as I had not been involved in any serious disputes up to that point but I suppose you just left a good impression. Sort of like the big sister that can be calm and sort things out when a kid punches the other in the mouth or something. So that's why i'm rambling here on your talk page and you probably still have no idea where this is going. I'll cut to the chase.
Back in July there was some serious sock/meatpuppet activity going down on the article and talk page for Abd-al-Aziz ibn Abd-Allah ibn Baaz, a religious figure of the 20th century. Basically consisted of some now-deleted attack pages in relation, the insertion of some serious POV into the main article, dishonesty about the context of Arabic-language references, the whole shebang. I considered going for an incident report or something like that until two more concerned editors jumped in and called foul, Can't Sleep Clown Will Eat Me put a temporary block on one of the puppets and it all went downhill from there. The guy ended up making a final comment about Wikipedia not being a valid source editing anyway; the whole exchange still dominates the article's talk page.
Job well done, right? Yeah, it seemed that way for about two months until he came back with a vengeance. I currently have an open case in regard to this behavior at Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Chubeat8, but haven't been able to get any response so far. The article has been protected due to edit warring through several accounts and IPs, which I reported here. The same ld tactics are on display on the talk page as well; he mostly seems concerned with attacking my integrity as an editor (posting friendly disagreements with other editors as evidence of my "disruptive editing", an instance four months ago where I reverted an edit of my own, etc). It's gotten worse, though; the guy has begun stalking me onto other pages, reverting my edits seemingly at random; this goes from things as simple as removal of unsourced content down to grammatical corrections to even intentionally inserting a spelling error on one occasion.
As you can probably tell (if I haven't bored you to death already, I have a tendency to ramble) it's quite a mess at this point. I've tried seeking arbitration through other editors and have opened a case now but the guy continues to run amok across Wikipedia now, I suppose in order to frustrate me or something. I would feel flattered that this amount of time is spent on me if it weren't for the fact that I could be getting useful edits done otherwise.
I know it's a big mess and it's a bit to ask, but could you review the open case in regard to puppetry? That's the most pressing issue I see, though the others are sort of tied into it. I'm sort of at the end of my rope here as to how to deal with disruption on such a mass scale. Thank you so much for any help you may lend! MezzoMezzo 14:10, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- Well, it's good to know that I can be my normal long winded self! As for the matter at hand, you are indeed correct about taking a step back. I suppose I need to let it go for the time being and allow those in charge to handle it. I guess I let myself get in too deep into the dispute, courtesy is something I normally take pride in and it's a shame when sometimes I lose my cool. Regardless, thanks for your input as I can see that you're quite busy handling the official business here and there. For some reason I kept wanting to call you "The Big Cheese", i'm not really sure why because that title may be more befitting of Jimbo but I digress. Have a great day! MezzoMezzo 21:53, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- Not to beat a dead horse, but did you ever get the chance to check out that project page? Recently I filed on the ANI noticeboard for a related incident; while there were personal attacks I was also advised not to react and let he/them "shoot himself in the foot". Perhaps I let my temper get the best of me with this issue, I don't know. Any preliminary thoughts? MezzoMezzo 15:08, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Wikistress
I read a user's comments at the RfA talk page who mentioned Wikistress and this user nearly quit the project altogether. Yesterday, I came across another user who mentioned the same about Wikistress. So I did some searching on teh internets and I read all about this Wikistress and the devastating results she wrought. I thought, who is this user? How could this single user cause so many people to quit, to cry, to take long wikibreaks? See, I thought Wikistress was a female user. I thought like 'temptress, adulteress, or stewardess' that it was obviously some female user who's opinions and mannerisms were deflating the passion of even the best users. I'm telling you this because just because my intellect is quite high, it doesn't mean I'm not an idiot. And just because I have cool tattoos, it doesn't make me one cool admin. I believe both those sentiments ring true. Except for the second one, which is false, because tattoos always = cool. the_undertow talk 01:50, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks for the barnstar Sharon, I have been unwell this week and I came online to find info about it. I was feeling slightly down but I was really surprised to find a bright user page. I was even more happily surprised to find an unlooked for barnstar - thats a total of three. May I request you to please make a barnstar slot for me on the userpage? Once again thanks a ton and do keep spreading more wikilove and wikicheers? Is there such a thing as wikiprayers, too?;-) AshLin 15:24, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- Ohhh I really like that userpage! But it is causing horizontal scrollbars for me, is there any way to make the left side tables re-size to allow for variable width? I have a widescreen 22" monitor, and run at 1600 resolution, so it isn't an issue of huge display, lol. I still like the page, but I have to vertical and horizontal scroll to see it all.
