Hello, Giantdevilfish! I see that you have expressed an interest in being adopted by an experienced editor. I accept your request, being an experienced editor myself. Whether you want to learn about wiki markup, find something to do, or just talk to somebody, I'm the one you can talk to - just leave a message on my talk page. King Kong vs. Godzilla

edit

I think that the section you mention is unclear with regards to the sources. Perhaps you should add a few more citations indicating specific pages to make it clearer that everything comes from that one book. As it is now, it only appears that one single item is being sourced. Finding additional sources would also be a good idea. Rhindle The Red (talk) 17:39, 9 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

That's certainly better. Add more if you can find them, but that certainly helps makes things clearer. If you think it's set for now, go ahead and remove the tag. Rhindle The Red (talk) 14:35, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I removed the sentences; you were right about them being advertising. In the future, you don't have to get another person's opinion before you do something. You can just be bold and change it yourself. If you make a mistake, or someone disagrees with you, don't worry. All revisions of pages are stored in the page history, so they can be retrieved if necessary. Cheers! J.delanoygabsadds

King Kong assistance

edit

I've made that referral (my term; don't know what Wiki materials call it) you asked for. I also did a polish job on the section. Wanted to put those large quotation marks around the quotes, but couldn't find any way to do it. I deleted one parenthetical aside, "his co-producer at Cinerama" as that was a wide-screen movie process, not a company. Admittedly, Cooper was a major player with it, but the Wiki article on it doesn't mention the man to whom Cooper was writing the quoted work. --Ted Watson (talk) 23:23, 15 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

It certainly cleared up a couple of questions in my mind. As for Cinerama, as the Wiki-article on it says, it was a three-camera/three-projector process for making very wide screen movies. No idea what Mark Cotta Vaz would have meant by "the seminal Cinerama feature." The only potentially relevant definition in the dictionary at hand here is "rudimentary" which might suggest the introductory film This Is Cinerama, essentially a travelogue designed to showcase the "new" process. --Ted Watson (talk) 21:00, 16 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Kingkongvsgodzilla-656x1024.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Kingkongvsgodzilla-656x1024.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:41, 21 November 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 04:41, 21 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

If you're sure that the company did not renew the (c) on these - then the appropriate license template would be {{PD-Pre1964}}, if you're not sure, then {{Non-free poster}} would be appropriate. The appropriate fair use template for these would be {{Film cover fur}} (filling in the appropriate fields). Skier Dude (talk) 19:07, 21 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
I added the templated license for this one - You'll need to update File:SonofkongB.jpg as well - same license would apply if the other information is the same. Skier Dude (talk) 00:14, 22 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Cm.Kraken.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Cm.Kraken.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 04:05, 10 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hey there,

I've noticed you adding pics to minor comic book characters - keep up the good work! :) BOZ (talk) 17:20, 26 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I'm a fan of minor characters. Give me the Man-Thing, The original Human Torch and Congorilla over Spider-Man, Batman and Superman any day of the week.;-)
P.S. Would you believe my favourite Batman villain is Squid (DC Comics)! I think he's way cooler than The Joker. My friends think I'm nuts.(lol)Giantdevilfish (talk) 01:39, 27 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's way out of date, but User:BOZ/Images might give you some ideas on where to work. :) Feel freel to trim anything that currently has an image in the infobox, and if you do start working with that page, I'll try to look for articles that need pics. BOZ (talk) 15:07, 5 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hey. Provide the source for the actual Toho announcement, otherwise remove it. Toho-Kingdom, no matter how much you kiss their behinds and love them, violate Toho's registered trademarks, use copyrighted derivatives that are under Toho's possession, and have always been BAD NEWS for Toho and Japan. Do you understand this, or do I have to make Toho's legal team make it known to them.

Excuse me? Are you threatening me? I don't "love" Toho Kingdom. Nor do I "kiss their behinds". I have nothing to do with Tohokingdom. I'm not a part of that site nor am I a member of that site. In fact I practicaly even visit it. If you have a bone to pick with Tohokingdom then contact them and let your issues be known to them. I have no idea why you are contacting me because of a beef with Tohokingdom. As far as that source goes its cited. If you have a source that refutes it then post it up, otherwise let it be.Giantdevilfish (talk) 17:35, 26 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ghostbusters (comics)

edit

The article that you just created, Ghostbusters (comics) should probably just be redirected to Ghostbusters (franchise)#Comics/manga. Is there anything in the article you just created that you feel is notable enough to be added to the main Ghostbusters franchise article? Inks.LWC (talk) 01:31, 4 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

What I'm trying to do is create a page called Ghostbusters (comics) and then move The Real Ghostbusters (comics) and Ghostbusters: Legion to that page. So we have a page that covers all the various Ghostbusters comic series from the various comic companies through the years on one page. Problem is I'm not sure how to merge the The Real Ghostbusters (comics) and Ghostbusters: Legion into the page I just created.Giantdevilfish (talk) 01:34, 4 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
I suggest you check out this page for some guidelines on merging: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:MERGE. However, I'm not sure that those pages shouldn't have their own articles. What I would suggest you do is start a discussion on those 2 pages' talk pages and get some input from people who interact with comics more. The WikiProject Comics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:COMICS) page might be another place to ask for some help with people more familiar with the topics than me. Let me know if you have any other questions (and no need to repost your comments to my talk page - I'll watch your page for a couple days for responses), and feel free to post on my talk page any time in the future if you have questions. Inks.LWC (talk) 01:40, 4 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hi. I feel that seperate miniseries based on a franchise shouldn't have seperate pages. I think it would be cleaner and more organized if everything was featured on one page. Kinda like this page here: Godzilla (comics). Rather than having a Marvel Comics Godzilla page, or a Dark Horse Godzilla comics page, or a IDW Publishing Godzilla page, everything is all together in one convienent article. Ghostbusters: Legion is a huge page devoted to a 4 issue miniseries. Why does it deserve such a huge article? I could clean both articles (I want to merge) up by removing alot of redunant, repetitive, and trivial info (such as the paragraph describing all the variant covers for every issue). The problem is, I posted on the Wikiproject Comics and no one responded. I don't think those articles are very popular and it seems no-one really cares.Giantdevilfish (talk) 01:50, 4 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
The other option (what I'd recommend doing) is keep the 2 existing articles, and add summaries to the article you created. From there, you can also add more details on the small miniserieses that don't warrant their own articles. You may want to post your ideas for the page on the talk page to get some input from other people too. Inks.LWC (talk) 02:02, 4 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
I took your suggestion and added the summary (slighty edited) from the The Real Ghostbusters (comics) page to the page I started. I feel it works better this way. What do you think or suggest? If you think this works I'll add a summary of the 88MPH series (Ghostbuster: Legion) to the page I created to complete it. (That would be every comic company that published comics based on the ghostbusters.)Giantdevilfish (talk) 02:14, 4 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Make sure you don't just copy and paste it from the other article. I'd also link to The Real Ghostbusters (comics) page. Other than that, it looks good, and dI think you can start adding summaries of the comics that don't yet have any mention on Wikipedia. Inks.LWC (talk) 03:15, 4 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

You can copy-paste, as long as you do it properly. I just said on the help-desk;

I create Ghostbusters (comics), and then I would click "Move" on the top of the page I want to merge (for example The Real Ghostbusters (comics)? Is that how you do it?Giantdevilfish (talk) 18:25, 3 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
No, you can't do that. You'd just redirect one to t'other. And copy/paste from one article to the other - but, important, a) say where you're copying it from in the edit summary (when adding it), and b) put a {{copied}} template on the talk pages of both articles.  Chzz  ►  16:36, 7 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Copy-pasting is acceptable in such cases (and it's the only choice) - as long as you say where the stuff came from, thus providing a link back to the history showing who-did-what-when.  Chzz  ►  16:40, 7 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

A moment's pause

edit

Given your user name, it is obvious you are passionate about giant cephalopods. I would ask, however, that you not panic concerning the recent changes and try for a revert. The information is being shifted across to the Kraken in popular culture, page minus the exposition and excessive images, as these articles have to appear to be of encyclopedia standard and less like fan pages. More information concerning the characters at both comic companies will be added in a day or so. Your work on the information is appreciated and made the upgrade (for want of a better word) that mauch easier. Regards Thebladesofchaos (talk) 02:55, 29 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Further to this, I will require you provide a source to ascertain the strength of your claim re: Avengers #16. Otherwise, it is simply original research. Just as the other comics can be proven to have featured a Kraken, this is what is required in this instance. Also avoid making emotive statements such as this ([1]), and try to remember to keep language formal. We don't use colloquial terms such as going back or as well as articles must be encyclopedia standard where possible. As to the other image, we can barely see Hercules and the Kraken is not the main focus. Regards BladeofOlympus (talk) 12:55, 4 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Keeping an eye on Godzilla

edit

Hi, I know that you have Godzilla on your watchlist and frequently revert vandalism, what do you make of this, [unreffed section]? I have restored your last clean version, apart from the fact that it is unreffed it also appears to be OR in a lot of places and I don't know how to qualify wp:crystal but in the past? You know, like, what songs would John Lennon have written if he hadn't been shot? Is there something to qualify this type of past projection? Anyway, let me know if this was the right call, I haven't looked around but given the size this could be a copyvio dump from a fansite or something. Total Recall(2012 film)

edit

I hope this isn't rude. Is it possible for you to answer these questions? Did you see Total Recall 2012 film? In this movie, since Colin Farrel's original identity got erased, is it because Colin Farrel honestly choose to be on the Resistance Side or is it because Colin wanted to help UFB locate the Resistance?(198.189.228.4 (talk) 21:53, 18 October 2012 (UTC)).Reply

I have no idea. I haven't seen the film. I just updated its box office. If you want questions answered, your best bet would be to go to the IMDB messageboard for the film and ask the posters there.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1386703/board/ Giantdevilfish (talk) 00:39, 19 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sea devil?

edit

You named the image a 'sea devil', but its original description is 'Pan vel Satyrrus Marinus'—and neither Pan (god) nor Satyr was anything like devil. Well, they share some animal appearance, like horns, fur or hooves, but are not evil. Calling the creature depicted 'a sea devil' seems to add more meaning to the picture than it originally had. --CiaPan (talk) 07:53, 24 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

The creature was referred to as a Sea Devil in the text from the books it had appeared in. Check out the link from the Smithsonian or google search "Conrad Gessner Sea Devil". "Sea Satyr" (or Satyrr Marinvs) was an alternate name that Gessner used in some of his texts.Giantdevilfish (talk) 16:40, 24 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Montreal Le National, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Canadian Hockey Association. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Signpost exit poll

edit

Dear Wikipedian, you recently voted in the ArbCom election. Your username, along with around 155 other usernames of your fellow Wikipedians, was randomly selected from the 2000+ Wikipedians who voted this year, with the help of one of the election-commissioners. If you are willing, could you please participate (at your option either on-wiki via userspace or off-wiki via email) in an exit poll, and answer some questions about how you decided amongst the ArbCom candidates?

If you decide to participate in this exit poll, the statistical results will be published in the Signpost, an online newspaper with over 1000 Wikipedians among the readership. There are about twelve questions, which have alphanumerical answers; it should take you a few minutes to complete the exit poll questionnaire, and will help improve Wikipedia by giving future candidates information about what you think is important. This is only an unofficial survey, and will have no impact on your actual vote during this election, nor in any future election.

All questions are individually optional, and this entire exit poll itself is also entirely optional, though if you choose not to participate, I would appreciate a brief reply indicating why you decided not to take part (see Question Zero). Thanks for being a Wikipedian

The questionnaire

edit

Dear Wikipedian, please fill out these questions -- at your option via usertalk or via email, see Detailed Instructions at the end of the twelve questions -- by putting the appropriate answer in the blanks provided. If you decide not to answer a question (all questions are optional), please put the reason down: "undecided" / "private information" / "prefer not to answer" / "question is not well-posed" / "other: please specify". Although the Signpost cannot guarantee that complex answers can be processed for publication, it will help us improve future exit polls, if you give us comments about why you could not answer specific questions.

Hi there, re: this, though you obviously meant well, the Indian cinema task force at Wikipedia generally considers US currency conversions rather arbitrary for film infoboxes. (It's one of the reasons we no longer use {{INRConvert}} templates in the infobox. The current phrasing "180 crore (1.8 billion)" is intended to make the data accessible to Indians (who operate in terms of lakhs and crore) and non-Indians (who understand millions/billions). I'm not a huge fan of this, since per MOS:COMMONALITY the community preference would be "1.8 billion", but some users seem to prefer this dual format. Additionally, there's no need for "Rupees" further down in the parenthetical, as we've identified our units by using {{INR}} in the prose. "180 crore (1.8 billion)". Discussion on MonsterVerse talk page

edit

Hey there, I've noticed your contributions on the MonsterVerse article. Anyways, I've brought up an issue that should be addressed on the MonsterVerse talk page regarding the lack of concrete confirmation whether Ken Watanabe has indeed signed on for King of The Monsters or not. I've invited others to discuss this and your two cents would be greatly appreciated before this issue potentially turns into an edit war. Best regards! Armegon (talk) 01:56, 20 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

King Kong musical(s)

edit

Hi. Since Flami is busy: Musicals on Wikipedia that are adaptations of other source material are usually named with "(musical)" in the title: for example, King Kong (musical). In this case, however, there is more than one King Kong musical, so the date that each adaptation premiered is included in the title. I just fiddled with the redirects so that if someone searches for King Kong musical or King Kong: The Eighth Wonder of the World, they will get to the King Kong disambiguation page and be able to select this article (you may need to wait a day for the redirects to show up in the search feature). Therefore, the name of the article should now be fine as is. -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:41, 22 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Son of Godzilla

edit

Thanks for adding the wealth of information to the Son of Godzilla article! I've tried cleaning up the formatting to just tidy up your work, but I can not seem to find information about that 1983 book you were sourcing. Could you add an ISBN number to it? Andrzejbanas (talk) 14:37, 19 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Andrzejbanas:Its this book here

http://www.clawmarktoys.com/shop/books/godzilla-graph-book/ You can find them on Ebay from time to time. I'm not sure if these old Japanese books have ISBN numbers. Where would it be located on the book? Also as good as that book is its not as good as Godzilla Days. I bought that book when I was in Japan back in 1995. Its full of essays written by people that worked on the Godzilla series through the years including Teisho Arikawa himself.Giantdevilfish (talk) 14:49, 19 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Andrzejbanas: I think I found it. Its on the back cover (lower right). It says ISBN4-06-172472-XGiantdevilfish (talk) 13:30, 20 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
That seems to be correct! Excellent! Much appreciated. Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:35, 20 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:10, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Ebigod.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Ebigod.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

RonBot (talk) 19:32, 7 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Kotmneogeo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:29, 1 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Rialtogodzilla.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Rialtogodzilla.jpg.

Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:01, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
