editGoogle Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
editHello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of open source. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to [email protected], so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at [email protected].
Thank you!

Hello, Denis.arnaud
Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Lineslarge and it's nice to meet you :-)
I wanted to let you know that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Almeirim Airport, for deletion because it meets one of the relevant criterion. The particular issue can be located in the notice, that is now visible at the top of the article.
If you wish to prevent the deletion:
- Edit the page
- Remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- Click the button.
But, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the raised issues. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Lineslarge}}
. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~
. Thanks!

- @Lineslarge: The airport is being referenced by IATA (search for GGF on https://www.iata.org/en/publications/directories/code-search/ for instance), which is already significantly noticeable. As a consequence, that airport may appear on travel searches, flight tickets and so on. Many travellers will board and take off in that airport. That Wikipedia page is a placeholder for other editors to contribute to it with moree images, facts and story lines.
- A few noticeable sources:
- IATA: "Search for GGF on IATA web site". IATA.
- ANAC: "Lista de aeródromos públicos" (in Portuguese). ANAC.
- Geonames: "Almeirim Airport on Geonames". Geonames.
- Airport information for Almeirim Airport on GCM at Great Circle Mapper. Source: DAFIF (effective October 2006).
- Google Maps: "Almeirim Airport on Google Maps". Google.
- Bing Maps: "Almeirim Airport on Bing Maps". Microsoft.

- Thanks for the updates. However,I think that all the sources given just go to proving Verifiably, not Notability. Also, half of the external links given do not work. If there is no notable coverage from reliable sources, I am inclined to propose this as an Article for Deletion. Lineslarge (talk) 14:44, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
- Regarding the external links and sources, I just double-checked them once again, ant they all work. It is true, though, that at the page creation time, two of them (e.g., "Airport information for SNYA". World Aero Data. Archived from the original on 2019-03-05.
{{cite web}}
: CS1 maint: unfit URL (link) Data current as of October 2006.) were not working. This has been fixed Denis.arnaud (talk) 18:29, 28 December 2019 (UTC) - Regarding the notability, Gol Transportes Aéreos, through its TwoFlex partner, operates a few flights from/to that airport. See for instance "Flights from Almeirim". Flight Connections. -- Denis.arnaud (talk) 18:29, 28 December 2019 (UTC)

- Dear Lineslarge, in relation to the proposed deletion of Almeirim Airport I kindly request you to reconsider your position. I have been a Wikipedia editor for more than 12 years and a member of the WikiProject Aviation concentrating my efforts in Brazilian aviation, airports and airlines. One of the sub-projects is to have articles in the English Wikipedia for all airports served by regular scheduled flights; there are approximately 140 of them. In fact, this project had been completed but in the last year the Federal Government of Brazil created many incentives in order to develop Aviation in smaller cities. Some States such as Amazonas, Pará, São Paulo, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul and Mato Grosso have already taken advantage of these incentives to develop regional aviation, linking important regional centers to the capital. In the article Essential Air Service you will learn about the American model which inspired its Brazilian counterpart. It is within this frame that Almerim Airport became relevant, being now served by regular flights of Gol Transportes Aéreos via its partner TwoFlex. Furthermore, Jari project is located in the Municipality of Almeirim, Pará. This is a huge development project related to celullose and products manufactured therefrom, with great economic impact in the region. For these reasons, I can only agree with Denis about the notability of the article he created. Thanking for your understanding, Yours, (Brunoptsem (talk) 22:05, 28 December 2019 (UTC))
- Thanks for the lengthy reply. Based on the fact that the article has been changed to list scheduled flights where it previously started there were none it seems clear that the airport is notable. Always happy to have my mind changed :) Lineslarge (talk) 22:26, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks to both of you! -- Denis.arnaud (talk) 07:07, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
