editHello, DMT biscuit
Thank you for creating Black Wooden.

Nice work. You might clarify the lead; it says that it is "by Mount Eerie" and then says it is "by Phil Elverum"

Please, DMT biscuit, while I appreciate your additions, this is a GA. a. Provide edit summaries for your many edits, explaining what you do; b. please copyedit more carefully. There are too many fragmented sentences, punctuation errors, and other mistakes in your additions, besides stilted writing and statements that don't seem to be very relevant, very important, or very adroitly woven into the text. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 13:28, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
- Like this--the writer you are adding is a lecturer with an MA writing an opinion piece. Why? The guy's point is interesting, but that's just my opinion; the publication is not such that it has weight automatically. Drmies (talk) 13:32, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
Kids See Ghosts
editMuch thanks for your peer review of the article, I have made all of the fixes apart from the NPR one since that publication is not italicised. --K. Peake 19:01, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
- You're welcome and correct on NPR.DMT biscuit (talk) 19:05, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
GA
editI don't know much about the album you copy-edited, but know that major changes to a Good article are normally discussed first. Why did you remove a sourced quotation, for example? ... and overlink (melody, tour, ...)? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:42, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- Quotation was redundant. It merely relayed the text. I also disagree with the claim of overlinking, although that is subjective. Discussion on this album's talk page is also very quiet. The only other editor besides myself to contribute significantly is User:Sparklism. I'm happy to discuss changes with you if you so wish. @Gerda Arendt.DMT biscuit (talk) 19:09, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- Well, not about things subjecive. I might link "melody" when it suddenly comes up in a biological article, but don't think we need a link to it in an article related to music. If you and others agree, fine. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:20, 4 August 2020 (UTC)

Anarchism 2
editI'm curious as to why you removed the paragraph about anarchist communities. There are a lot of people who say that anarchism is not practiced even though it is so it should be included in the anarchism page. Maybe better wording than the original paragraph, but something should be there. Osric the Brash (talk) 14:45, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Osric the Brash: If you're referring to the Anarchism and Organizations section, I gave my reasons in my edit summaries as well as in a message to the user.
- "In terms of violation, the section was comprised entirely of original research irregardless of citations (although the citations you did use were worthwhile and I will overlook them for material worthy of implementation) The citations used did not support the information and often did not even featured the jargon used (mutual aid, direct democracy etc...)". DMT biscuit (talk) 14:58, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
- @DMT biscuit: I have not yet been able to analyse those sources, so I am assuming you were correct to delete those. I was talking specifically about this change [[1]] about the link to List of anarchist communities. Osric the Brash (talk) 16:22, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Osric the Brash: That particular section was inadequately cited. I also saw it having a tenuous relationship. The general idea of Anarchist communities and their prevalence should probably be included, feel free to. DMT biscuit (talk) 16:26, 16 October 2020 (UTC)

New comments at FAC
editShould I dignify these comments? It feels like they're abusing the review process because of POV grievances. isento (talk) 18:13, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hi @Isento:. Reading this comment it does very much seem like someone strangely trying to alter the article, especially considering they give no sources that support their view. I would recommend, yes, not dignifying this comment and contacting one of the coordinators to see if/what appropriate action can be taken. DMT biscuit (talk) 18:52, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

editCongrats on the promotion of a great article, DMT. It took a little longer than it looked like it might at the beginning of the FAC, but sometimes that's the way it goes, and what's important is that it finally made it there. Moisejp (talk) 04:50, 18 March 2021 (UTC)

Most issues in EATEOT fixed
editHey man, or woman. I'm just here to let you know that most of the sourcing problems in EATEOT have been fixed by me, per your GA review. I'm not nominating it for GA now, since there are still other problems I've noticed while editing, but I just suggest you have a quick look at the references and point out to me any errors or unreliabilities you may find, since as stated everywhere in this site, Wikipedia's community takes part in collaboration to expand and improve articles. Also, there are more sources you have pointed out as possibly self-published that are actually reliable, shown in the list below.
- Entropy has an editorial staff, as seen here;
- Betreutes Proggen also has an editorial staff, as seen here (translation).
Also, I'd suggest for you to let someone who is unfamiliar with EATEOT to review it, as that person would likely be more demanding regarding WP:AUDIENCE and that would be good. My plan is to eventually get EATEOT to an FA level and showcase it on the top of Wikipedia's Main Page, but that will only be possible with the help of others.
~ Wetrorave (talk) 15:01, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Wetrorave: Hi. I'll happily look over your work and place any comments I have on the talk page. I agree with you on the natural party undertaking the review. It's always a bit of a double-edged; fans can provide unique insight or info but they are, per nature, biased. Hope the review does turn out well—album reviews tend to get picked up rather quickly :) DMT biscuit (talk) 15:23, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
- @DMT biscuit: This might be a dumb question, because it is, but I still think it's worth asking. I'm thinking about re-nominating EATEOT for GA after the big source overhaul done in this edit but I'm not sure whether I replace the GAN template already in its talk page or if I put a new one above it. While it is stated in the template's page that "the template should be substituted", the template currently also serves as a container for presenting the WikiProjects where EATEOT is in, so I'm not sure how to remove it.
By the way, this selection will be a mandolin solo by mister james fitzgerald.

@Wetrorave: I'll look over it. But yes the failed GA nom should remain on the talk page for transparency. An article I've worked on, Murder of Bianca Devins, is in a similar situation if you want to look over that. DMT biscuit (talk) 22:33, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
- Upon looking it over I don't see any problems with the talk page; banner and GA template are separate. The new one should go above it. DMT biscuit (talk) 22:38, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
- I've actually just re-read the review instructions and it says "to review an article you must not be the nominator nor have made significant contributions to the article prior to the review". It says nothing specifically about whether reviewers may be familiar or not with the topic. So yeah, in case you want to review it there's no problem.[1]

A Crow Looked at Me scheduled for TFA
editThis is to let you know that the above article has been scheduled as today's featured article for May 10, 2021. Please check that the article needs no amendments. A coordinator will draft a blurb - based on your draft if the TFA came via TFA requests, or for Featured Articles promoted recently from an existing blurb on the FAC talk page. Feel free to comment on this.
We suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from the day before this appears on Main Page. Thanks and congratulations on your work. Gog the Mild (talk) 19:39, 25 April 2021 (UTC)

My edit to "A Crow Looked at Me"
editGreetings and felicitations. Regarding these edits, I moved the images because in (very) wide browser windows the images hang in to the following section and interfere with that section's table. Moving them to the top of their section stops that; compare: 1 and 2. Admittedly this is trivial, but I wanted to let you know why I made the edit. —DocWatson42 (talk) 22:31, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi there!
editHi! I've been working on the article Mount Eerie (album) recently, from a stub to what I think is a pretty good article now. You've promoted a bunch of music articles to GA, including some other Phil albums, as well as having reviewed a good amount of GANs. So, I'm wondering how close you think the article is to GA? I wouldn't want to nominate it if it's far off, but I think it's close to completion, at least content-wise. Thanks!
P.S. I'm also curious what you think of the album? I have an odd opinion in that I prefer it to The Glow Pt.2, and it's also in my top 5 albums. Mcguy15 (talk, contribs) 15:37, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hi @Mcguy15: I'm flattered. I'll look over the album and post my thoughts on the talk page. You've certainly improved it significantly, congratulation.
- I quite enjoy the album. As with 2020, I always enjoy seeing him expand upon his central style, although I do wish the album was as stylistically fluid as The Glow Pt. 2. DMT biscuit (talk) 16:37, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

- @DMT biscuit: Thanks so much, I wasn't expecting such a detailled comment—review even! I replied to some comments there. 2022 began happily with vacation. I uploaded images but stopped at 22 January - click on songs. 30 January means 10 years of Precious. It's also the birthday of a friend, - I'm so happy I mentioned his DYK on his 90th birthday when he was still alive. I have a great singer on DYK whom I heard, Elena Guseva, and wait for a Recent death appearance of Georg Christoph Biller whom I saw in action. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:16, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

Thank you today for David Berman (musician), introduced: "He wrote sad songs and got paid by the tear. They’re motel masterpieces about dream attacks and beer drinking robots. His mother named him after a king and he was the son of “possibly the most evil man in America”. In 2003, he was hospitalised for approaching death; shined out in the wild kindness; and left this world behind on the back of a black camel. Here's hoping he gets that Pulitzer for the "frontline series 'Iowa Jima' published in the 2022 A.D. Pittsburgh Daily Humanoid," his words."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:41, 15 February 2022 (UTC)

The Microphones articles
editHey there, I'm Mcguy15 (promoter of Mount Eerie (album)), but I changed my username to PerfectSoundWhatever recently (Thanks a ton for your help with Mount Eerie by the way!). I've been wanting to write more album GAs, (recently nominated Coin Coin Chapter Three: River Run Thee, fingers crossed that passes), and had a thought. The Microphones don't have a large discography, so promoting The Microphones to Good topic wouldn't be extremely difficult, and could be a fun project to work towards.
A third of the articles are already done (M.E and Glow); Microphones in 2020 is B class and pretty close to a GA; It Was Hot has a decent amount of sources, so GA would be pretty decently achievable (but I'm not sure). The tough one is Don't Wake Me Up. I think we can get away with a much shorter article with that one and still pass though, since it lacks sources as far as I can tell (see Fender Contempo Organ for an example GA that is short from lack of information). The Microphones would have to be a GA too: don't really know where to start on that one.
It's an audacious goal, but the obvious place to start is Microphones in 2020—of which you're the primary contributor. The prose and sourcing need work, and more sources would need to be searched for to make sure the article is encompassing the information available, but overall, I think it's pretty close to GA. There's a good amount of information, and it's well-structured.
I don't know how busy you are, or how much interest you would have in this, but it would benefit the encyclopedia a lot, and would be pretty fun! Let me know what you think? Oh and, regardless of the good topic thing, I'm probably going to work on It Was Hot soon. — PerfectSoundWhatever (t; c) 23:36, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
- @PerfectSoundWhatever: Yeah, I have no problem helping out where I can. I'll work on 2020. I may be a little rusty. DMT Biscuit (talk) 23:39, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hey DMT. I've been working on Don't Wake Me Up (album), and I've nominated it for GA. It's not too long, but there are a lot of short GAs, and I've used up basically every source I could find, book or otherwise. It is pretty broad in it's coverage, obviously not ideal, but sources don't exist to fill that gap. Again, no idea if you're busy, but feel free to take a look, since it will probably be a while between nomination and review. Thanks! — PerfectSoundWhatever (t; c) 04:31, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
- @PerfectSoundWhatever: I'll take a look and, if need be, chuck any thoughts on the talk page. I think, for obvious reasons, I should refrain from doing the GA. DMT Biscuit (talk) 13:38, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
- P.S. @PerfectSoundWhatever: Do you have access to Newspapers.com and/or Newspaper archive. If not you can get them through the Wikipedia Library. I have access to both and notice that Phil did get some quite notable attention in the papers. And remember, because this tripped me up, that when you're searching his name to go with Elvrum. DMT Biscuit (talk) 13:53, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
- Ahh, didn't know I had access to that. This is awesome, I gotta use this more! I tried a search, which didn't pick up anything substantial, but not sure if I did it right. Would you mind linking the newspaper sources that you found? — PerfectSoundWhatever (t; c) 14:03, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
- I prefer to use Newspapers.com - it's more robust. Although, I found nothing in regards to Don't Wake Me Up, so don't fret. But it's a good resource for general info on Phil and/or the Microphones. DMT Biscuit (talk) 14:29, 14 July 2022 (UTC)

editHi DMT Biscuit,
- Invitation
You have been invited, along with the other participants in Wikiproject Vital Articles, to start editing the Technology page and add references. Our goal is, by September 3rd, to have the article at least to B-class, but what would be generally preferable is to improve this article to the extent that it gets to GA-status. I may post a notice to the community bulletin board, but it is not definite. I hope to see the Technology article improved! 𝙷𝚎𝚕𝚕𝚘𝚑𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚝 ⋅𝚃𝚊𝚕𝚔⋅ 02:45, 2 September 2022 (UTC)

editThe first ever Vital GA Drive by the WikiProject Vital Articles has begun. The drive aims to improve Coffee and Land to good article status within 45 days, from 1 September to 15 October 2022. The Vital GA Drive is WikiProject Vital Articles's first step at achieving its ambitious goal: all Vital articles achieving good article status by 2032.

Happy holidays! (and GAN)
editHey, I hope you're having a nice holiday. I stumbled back upon the Great American Novel and was surprised that it hadn't been promoted to GA or FA. Over the next month, I plan on doing some copy editing and a bit of writing here and there. After that, would you be interesting in conominating it with me (with your name listed first of course)? I figure we go right for the throat and make it a FAC. I think it just needs some minor tweaking to be featured quality. Cheers, ~ HAL333 18:26, 26 December 2022 (UTC)
- @HAL333: Sure. I hate to see something incomplete and would enjoy sinking my teeth back into something. I agree that its in a soild state but would advise that we hash something more determined in regards to sourcing and structure given the article's unique nature - both academic and populist, for example. I'll first start with a copyedit, feel free to intervene or make your voice heard. DMT Biscuit (talk) 19:20, 26 December 2022 (UTC)

Discontent Content Issue 7
editWelcome, subscribers, to the seventh Discontent Content newsletter! Discontent Content is a newsletter aiming to collate and improve Wikipedia articles in need of more eyes and hands to get them in shape. Its unique trimodal structure allows editors to work where they feel comfortable -- with stubs and starts needing to be brought to standard, mid-quality articles with Good or Featured potential, or quality-assessed articles needing help to maintain their status. Articles in this category are those that need to be brought up to a minimum quality standard. Some will be stubs; others will be longer articles that nonetheless have significant concerns putting them far below B- or C-class adequacy. This issue's Category 1 articles are:

WikiProject Anarchism checking in
editHey there! I noticed you're on the WikiProject Anarchism members list, but you don't appear to have edited in this subject area for some time. Just in case you're still interested, here's a little update:
- In the past couple years, we have brought four articles to Featured status, including the ones on Nestor Makhno, La Salute è in voi, The May Pamphlet and "The Day Before the Revolution". We're likely to get even more to this status in the near future, so stay tuned to the front page for some of our best articles on the platform.
- A number of our most vital articles have been reviewed and achieved Good Article status, including ones on Gaetano Bresci, Camilo Cienfuegos, Joseph Déjacque, Luigi Galleani, Paul Goodman, and the Kronstadt rebellion. As these "vital articles" are generally considered among the most important on the platform, we aim to get as many as possible to GA and FA status over the coming years.
- We recently hit the first milestone for our stub-expansion project, getting the number of stubs down to under 1/5th of our total articles. This means that the vast majority of our articles are now relatively substantial, as we expand and add greater detail to the articles that lack sufficient information. We hope to narrow this number down even further, so more articles have the information they deserve.
- We just started a cleanup drive, in which we are aiming to resolve the problematic parts of our articles, from finding citations for unsourced sections to fixing up formatting errors. In doing this, we intend to make sure our articles provide the best possible reading experience, without unsourced claims or ugly tags littering the page.
If you want to get more involved in the project, please feel free! We always need an extra pair of hands to help out with our ever-growing project. If you want to help out with one of the above efforts, go right ahead. If you want to keep more up to date with the project's activities, consider adding our noticeboard to your watchlist or adding your name to our mailing list. On the other hand, if you think you're time with the project is over, then consider removing your name from the members list, but we do hope you're still interested in our wee project.
All the best to you, whatever your future plans are. Regards, --Grnrchst (talk) 10:34, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
