You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. Speedy deletion declined: Antalya Festival
editHello CeeGee, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Antalya Festival, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: There is ample context to identify the subject of the article. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. -- Lear's Fool 06:24, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

editHello! I changed the name back to Aliağa (İZBAN) because the name of the station is just Aliağa. It was been changed when the line opened. Also because İZBAN is a private company, it is to differentiate from TCDD owned stations. Cheers. (Central Data Bank (talk) 18:14, 16 February 2011 (UTC))

Speedy deletion nomination of Nurdan KaragözP
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Nurdan KaragözP requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. CeeGee (talk) 15:55, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

- A good place to ask for copyediting for English is WP:EAR. There is also WP:PR but that is really for the more well developed articles. Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Rukiye Yıldırım. The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:10, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
The article Rukiye Yıldırım has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Your contributed article, 2008 World University Boxing Championships
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, 2008 World University Boxing Championships. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - 2008 World University Boxing Championship. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at 2008 World University Boxing Championship - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.
If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. CeeGee (talk) 15:08, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
Hello CeeGee, I've just declined your speedy and tuned 2010 World University Boxing Championship into a redirect to the page; I believe that the former is the correct name; however, I'm not sure. If I was wrong, feel free to turn it into a redirect to the latter. I thought that a speedy deletion per A10 was inappropriate, because the page with the wrong title can be a useful redirect to the other. Happy editing. Salvio Let's talk about it! 16:15, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
- The official site says "Championship" and not "Championships". The redirection you conducted should be in reverse way. Please check and fix it in accordance. BTW, I accept your proposal not to delete the duplication. Thanks and cheers. CeeGee (talk) 18:51, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
- Done. Cheers. Salvio Let's talk about it! 18:58, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
Boxing articles
editThanks for your contributions. I notice you've added a few on amateur boxers, but they don't seem to meet notability guidelines under WP:NSPORT#Boxing. Is there anything else that can be added to your last three articles to establish notability? I've tagged all three. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 13:02, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- Question: Are they not considered to be notable even they have won medals at international events? Thanks and cheers. CeeGee (talk) 13:05, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- For amateur events, bronze medals don't seem to be enough. Have any of them received substantial coverage from WP:Secondary, WP:Reliable sources? Turkish-language coverage would do fine, as long as they're reliable sources (not blogs, university newsletters, etc.). Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 13:08, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- Are following sources insufficient?
- Dindar Gölçek: two regional newspapers,
- Kadri Kordel: one regional newspaper,
- Muhammet Çat: two nationwide newspapers. CeeGee (talk) 13:19, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- Those are passing mentions, so could you find something more substantial? I'll also hunt for some. Gurt Posh (talk) 13:46, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
Hi. As long as I know, the Special organization (Modern Turkish: Teşkilât-ı Mahsusa) was not a special force but an intelligence service. Its had operative units which was called "Fedai" by British intelligence. Takabeg (talk) 06:22, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
- I wonder why then does its title "Teşkilât-ı Mahsusa" say "Special organization"? If special organizations are not operative, what are they then?
Kategorinin adı olarak Category:Members of the Special organization of the Ottoman Empire nasıl ? Takabeg (talk) 06:24, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
- Well, are not forces also organizations? "Special organization" does not match the structure for my POV. CeeGee (talk) 06:32, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
- Special organization is not a normal noun but a kind of proper noun. So we have to use singular: "organization" not plural: "organizations"Takabeg (talk) 07:12, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
Category:World War I crimes by the Ottoman Empire, Category:Armenian Genocide, Category:Greek Genocide
editHi, why did you remove Category:World War I crimes by the Ottoman Empire, Category:Armenian Genocide, Category:Greek Genocide with this edit ? Do you think we'd better put them into article directly ? Takabeg (talk) 07:43, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
- Since irrelevant. CeeGee (talk) 07:44, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
- Why irrelevant ? There are many sources, even in Turkish language. Takabeg (talk) 09:30, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
- In order to be categorized, it has to be mentioned in the article with a reference of reliable source. Don't you think so? CeeGee (talk) 10:14, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
- Not always. If it were clear that the topic is irrelevant with some categories, we can (maybe we must) remove them. But the Special Organization's relation with the Armenian Genocide and the Greek ... (I personally think that the term "Greek genocide" is not common.) is mentioned in articles Armenian Genocide, Greek genocide. In this case, we must not remove those categories. Takabeg (talk) 10:34, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
- Not logical. We cannot assume that an artical is categorized into a topic because the relationship is mentioned in another article.CeeGee (talk) 11:23, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
- You did the same "illogical" thing. Takabeg (talk)
Mountain running
editHi CeeGee. Excellent job on covering both the 2011 European Mountain Running Championships and Ahmet Arslan! I've been meaning to write Arslan's article for a while – even though he is obscure, he is somewhat peerless in Europe. I hope you enjoyed seeing Turkish athletes compete so well in your home town. - Hi SFB. Thanks a lot for the nice words. I've just noticed it in a recent newspaper report, and was wondering that Wikipedia was lacking an article about him. Cheers! CeeGee (talk) 06:39, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Could you help?
editI have seen that you have edited my sisters (Sevgi Sabanci) bio page. I am having a little problem with mine (Murat Sabanci) I recently created the page, I have been living in England and USA for a long time and trying to keep myself away from the media as much as I can. My bio just marked for deletion by a Wikipedia editor (Bgwhite) for having no reliable source.
What should I do to resolve this?
Thank you in advance...
Murat Sabanci
Here is what we have been discussing with "Bgwhite" ;
Re: Proposed deletion of Murat Sabancı
I have some sources for the biography of Murat Sabanci;
http://arsiv.sabah.com.tr/1998/08/08/r05.html
http://en.rodovid.org/wk/Person:607039

2 of them are in Turkish and 2 are in English. Would these work?
If not what else I could provide to make permanent changes on my personal information?
I have been trying to keep myself away from written media, so it is really hard to find any publications about me. I could provide some documentation to prove that my my personal information is accurate...
Thank you for your time...
Murat Sabanci
The first Turkish one looks to be ok for a reference. Unfortunately, it doesn't go into detail about Mr Sabanci, therefore it can't be used to establish notability on Wikipedia. The second link, en.rodovid.org, is a user generated wiki. The other two links say the information is from Wikipedia. A user generated wiki or Wikipedia are not considered reliable sources because anyone can edit. WP:SOURCES as some information on what makes a reliable source. It takes 10 days for the proposed deletion to run its course, so there is time to come up with some sources. In order for an article about a living person to be on Wikipedia, generally, it has to meet WP:GNG. If there are no sources, then there is no page. Unfortunately, any information that you provide about yourself is not deemed independent, thus not amissable. This is not to say you are not notable in the real world, just not on Wikipedia. I think journalist and businesspeople have the hardest trouble with these requirements. Journalists write alot, but not to many get written about. Businesspeople get written about, but it is usually only in the context of the company... You see news stories about the companies that have quotes or mention company officials, but not many stories about the businesspeople themselves. Bgwhite (talk) 08:32, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your quick reply. Basically in my bio i only stated my education and business life without getting in any details. These information can be found online such as my company info that can be found on a public website that's been ran by the US Government without any user access for editing. Also, education info can be found online websites which is official school websites...
Murat Sabanci --Runoka (talk) 09:30, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Runoka! Thanks for your message. In the meantime, I noticed that your question has been fully explained by the admin, who proposed the deletion of the article about your bio. Maybe you can provide links to newspaper articles as reference. Cheers. CeeGee (talk) 11:11, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
Abdi İpekçi Street → Avenue
editWhile streets called "avenue" are usually broad streets, especially in the U.S., not all streets called "avenue" are necessarily broad. Originally just meaning "access road", one of its meanings is "thoroughfare", which corresponds to how cadde is used in Turkey. Istanbul was not designed for car traffic, and unfortunately some major thoroughfares are now uncomfortable narrow, but, narrow and one-way as it is, Abdi İpekçi Caddesi is a thoroughfare. In any case, I think it is better to translate cadde uniformly for a variety of reasons, including the existence of streets whose names are differentiated by sokak versus cadde (e.g., Abdi İpekçi Sokak as a side street of Bağdat Caddesi in Fenerbahçe, and another one in İçerenköy). I also notice that Şişli Belediyesi uses "Abdi Ipekci Avenue" in English texts,[1] as does Hürriyet Daily News.[2] --Lambiam 10:35, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

- Dressed in fancy costumes, carnavalists march the route dancing tsamiko to music played by mandolin, clarinet and lute or Anatolian folk dances to music by drum and zurna. Residents of Bakırköy, Samatya, Fener, Balat cross dancing the Golden Horn on the Galata Bridge and Unkapanı Bridge, pass Pera and reach the Hagios Dimitri Church square. People from neighborhoods at Bosphorus, Şişli, Kemerburgaz gather in front of the Pangaltı Catholic Cemetery and march through the main street to the same square. Some young Greek people, except members of the mise en scène groups, wear traditional costume fustanella. In addition to men, who put on fake beard or moustache, completely paint their face with flour or coal powder, women are dressed in red, blue or green décolleté garment.[1]

Disambiguation link notification
editHi. When you recently edited Varda Viaduct, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Zaman (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
