Greetings, Rail request
editHello sir, it's been a while, so I hope you are well. I thought of you when going over an article I'm getting near completing - the Chemin de fer de Petite Ceinture article you helped me out on so long ago. I'm not very well-versed in English 'trainspeak', so would you mind having a look if you're around/have the time/would like to?
Thanks, best, take care, THEPROMENADER ✎ ✓ 17:19, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
- Alright Mate, I don't Wikipedia any more. It bored me to death having to fight for a standard of writing and what to include. What would you need help with with regards to the Petite Ceinture? I've been on it and have quite a few photos if you think some media could be added. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 10:59, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
- Hey, how do? Good to see you still kicking. I share your frustration, and I am certainly less 'involved' these days. I hope you are well (otherwise).
- As for the article, it would be kind if you could look over the language, for starters: I'm read-and-written in French on that topic, and I'm not familiar with English railroad terminology and common usage (like you are ; ). THEPROMENADER ✎ ✓ 13:07, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
- Sure, I'll have a look. I'm ok thanks, involved with other projects, work and life. I enjoy DIY, boating, travelling. I'll also see about putting some contemporary photos on the Commons as I have been known to walk along it. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 13:46, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
- PS: I am glad that my French railway station naming nomenclature stook. "Gare de" and such. that was me :) twelve years and and it is the standard. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 13:48, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
- What about this sample? [1] Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 20:33, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
- Noice. Upload to commons for sure... how long ago were those taken (be sure to date them)? I have yet to complete the 'decline', abandonment and 'present state' section, so for sure they'll find a place there.
- Glad to hear that (well-intentioned, you have to give them that) English Wikipedia caught on to the rather particular French rail-station naming conventions (the whole thing is the 'name')... wish they'd 'get' the use of the long hyphen in the same, but hey, one step at a time. THEPROMENADER ✎ ✓ 21:07, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
- Ooooooooh, not sure about the long hyphen... Not sure about hyphens. Cue Buzz Lightyear: dashes, dashes every where!
- There photos were all taken between December 2014 and now. I'll check the article, see what's what. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 18:00, 29 August 2017 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:CaptainScarlet.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:CaptainScarlet.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

French railway station names
editHello Captain
Thanks for your note; Yes, I did take umbrage at CROUS's rather high-handed actions last November, and have been unimpressed that he hasn't bothered to explain himself or engage in any dialogue since on what he's up to (which currently seems to be re-vamping the station infoboxes).
But my liking to help depends a little on what constitutes repairing the damage; returning pages with the format "X (Paris RER)" is fair enough, but the format "Gare de X" is out of step with the naming convention you referred to, so pages moved from there to "X Station" are (IMO) merely wrongly capitalized; the remedy would be to move them on to "X station" or X railway station". Is that what you had in mind? Moonraker12 (talk) 16:12, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
PS: On reflection, I've opened a discussion at WP:Trains on the subject; it's here, if you wish to comment on it. Moonraker12 (talk) 16:21, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for your reply. Nothing came out of the discussion it seems. Because the pages were moved, they can't be moved back to their original names it seems. So... nothing's changed? Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 16:28, 8 July 2018 (UTC)

editNaming of French railway station articles
editThere is a proposal at Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/France_and_French-related_articles#Naming_of_French_railway_station_articles where your input would be helpful. Colonies Chris (talk) 20:04, 15 March 2020 (UTC)
- Please do not let perfect be the enemy of good. "railway station" may be a better suffix than "station", and you are welcome to propose that change at MOS talk, but I see consensus that either is better than the "Gare de" prefix. Reverting pages to the worst of the three titles is not helpful. Certes (talk) 11:07, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- I don't think I will, enjoy yourselves User:Certes & User:Colonies Chris. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 14:03, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

editThank you for uploading File:Bus Azur - logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
