Five Question Friday

Time to head over to Mama M's at My Little Life for 5 question Friday!

Rules for 5QF: Copy and paste the following questions to your blog post, answer them, then watch for the linky post to appear and LINK UP!

Questions for Friday, March 30th:

 1. What giveaway would you like to do on your blog?
None - don't do giveaways.

2. If you had to choose between natural artistic ability and natural athletic ability, which would it be?
Normally I would say artistic but lately my legs have been killing me (old injuries from a car accident) so right now I'd say athletic.

3. Do you ditch the coat the minute it becomes "spring" or are you a holdout for more cool temps?
Winter coat is back in the upstairs closet - but I did get out my Spring jackets.

4. What would you do if you won the mega millions lotto of 1/2 billion dollars?
So many things - first me and mine would be debt free and all have the homes/remodels we wanted - daughter/sil and I would fly to England where we and my son/dil/grandson would go on a world class shopping spree - trust funds for grandson and future grands - then I would have to find some worthy charities to help (VFW would be one of them). Sadly, since I don't buy tickets - it will never happen.

5. You are at a hotel by yourself...what do you do?
Get out the Kindel, stretch out and read.

An Award

I have been nominated an award and am just now getting around to acknowledging it. This week has been crazy at work and I've been fighting with video cards every night when I get home.
I received the Tell Me About Yourself Award from my friend Brenda at Fiction With a Purpose. You really should get one of her books if you haven't already. I warn you though, once you read the first, you will be hooked.
The rules for this award are very simple....
1. Thank the person that nominated you and link back to their blog.
2. Tell the world 7 things about yourself that you have not shared, yet.
3. Nominate 7 fellow bloggers and let them know.
Seven things about me:
1.  I am a direct descendant of Randall McCoy of the famous Hatfield/McCoy feud.
2. I have always been fascinated with the paranormal - don't necessarily believe - but find the possibility fascinating.
3. I collect Eagle figurines.
4. I used to have anxiety attacks every time I drove over a bridge - Louisville, KY was a nightmare - my daughter, who was about 7 at the time would "talk me through it" every time!
5. I have no sense of direction what-so-ever, thank God for GPS.
6. I took flying lessons for a while (until I couldn't afford them anymore).
7. I love "old" county music.
I am not going to pass this on to any specific people because I know how hard it is to find time and choose people to pass it to but I appreciate the award and would love for any/all of you to take it and post if you would like to.
Thanks again Brenda!

Pondering With a Purpose

Thursday is here again and it's time to do a little "pondering" with Brenda from Fiction With a Purpose.

Her rules are really easy:

1. Grab the Pondering with a Purpose Badge (in her sidebar)
2. Look at the week's prompt
3. Post something on your blog that relates to the prompt - it can be a story, a poem, a picture -- anything you want it to be.
4. Go back here and add the URL from your post to the linky list on Brenda's.
5. Go check out the other bloggers who have added their links to the list.
6. AND most of all.... Have fun!

This Week's prompt:  Blogging

What would I do if I didn't spend so much time in the blogging world? Well, I'd probably get my term paper written a little faster. Am I going to stop? No - I've found that it's kind of like having a whole circle of friends out there that I can relate to. I don't lead a very exciting life, pretty much go to work, go home and work around the house and yard. I really don't even see my daughter all that often. While I have a lot of friends, since I moved they're all some distance away so I don't see them often.  The church group meets on Tuesdays while I'm working so I don't do that. I do the VFW auxiliary a couple of times a month but that's about all that isn't work related. So I'm not going to stop anytime soon although I may be somewhat AWOL this weekend since I'm down to the deadline on the above mentioned term paper.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Welcome back to the Wednesday Hodgepodge! Be sure to add your link to the bottom of Joyce's post and then go visit the neighbors. After all, that's part of the fun!

1. What's the last job you did that required elbow grease?
Cleaning off the brick patio in the back yard - always requires lots of elbow grease the first time of the season as grass and weeds always grow through all the cracks and nothing I've found will kill it for long.
2. March Madness, aka the men's Division I basketball championship, is nearing an end...what sort of 'madness' has your house seen this month?
I don't do sports, the only madness my house sees is when I get on a cleaning jag and start pitching things.
3. What's your favorite shop for browsing?
I'm really not much of a shopper - does Amazon count?
4. Is there ever a time when giving up makes sense?
I never give up - just keep plugging away. That's not saying that I have not occasionally "changed directions" but give up - NEVER!
5. What's a song you love that contains the name of a city, state or country in its title?
An old John Denver song - Take me Home, Country Roads - I always find myself singing that song when I go to VA - usually as soon as I go through the tunnel at Middlesboro, KY and turn off onto 58.
6. When did you first begin using a computer?
Must have been around 1994
7. Did you buy girl scout cookies this year? What's your favorite?
Of course - and aren't Thin Mints everyone's favorites?
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I have been through 2 video cards, one coupler, and a splitter and still do not have my second monitor working! But I will not give up! See #4.

Chats on the Farmhouse Porch

It's time to head over to Patrice's porch for the weekly chat and boy am I glad she confessed to be the reason for this cold weather. Here I was thinking it was because I got the garden plowed!

This week's questions:
  1. What was your favorite book as a child?
  2. Dark chocolate, Milk Chocolate, or White Chocolate?
  3. What's your biggest "pet peeve" when it comes to your kitchen?
  4. Do you use any type of water filter in your home? (Whole house, faucet mount, or pitcher)
  5. What's the herb you use the most in cooking?
My answers:

  1. Horton Hatches the Egg - Sighed Mazie, a lazy bird hatching an egg, I'm tired and I'm bored and I've kinks in my legs - from sitting, just sitting here day after day. It's work, how I hate it, I'd much rather play................
  2. Yes, yes, and yes.
  3. Things not put back in the cabinets where they belong. My daughter was always getting something out, leaving it on the counter, and leaving the cabinet door open! Drove me nuts.
  4. Pitcher. They work quite well. I also have a filter inside the fridge that gives filtered water on the door and for ice.
  5. I just love sage but I guess you didn't ask what my favorite was. The one I use the most would be garlic.

Coffee Chat

I'm joining the coffee chat again this morning! If you'd like to join, head over to Rory's at Time out for Mom. The topic is: Random Thoughts

My random thoughts this morning:

Why is is that you can never seem to "fill" a digital photo frame until you have a grandchild and now all of a sudden, you find yourself having to delete pictures to get more on it?

And why is is that mother nature has been so warm and spring like until I get my garden plowed and now it's too frickin COLD to get out there and plant it?

And why is it that I can ramble on about nothing but can't seem to finish a term paper!

And WHY is it that the SECOND video card I just installed on my computer - because the first one wasn't right and I had to order another - has a "male" connection when I need a "female" so now I have to order a coupler for it!
