Bedroom Decoration Tips and Ideas!

On my set of drawers I love having pretty scented candles lit as it adds a luminous glow to a dark room and keeps it smelling fresh! As a centrepiece I used a portrait of one of my favourite icons, Marilyn Monroe, to set the mood for my room and to be used as a focal point for my space.

Fresh flowers from your garden or a store can brighten up any space as well as providing a fresh scent and natural feel. I love placing pink flowers in my room as it matches the decor and adds more colour to a neutrally based room!

I love my perfume collection and the bottles are just to cute not to show off! I've placed the perfume under a silver tray that I found at a thrift shop, not only does this add an extra feature to the bottles but it also keeps them looking clean and organised.

On my bedside table I like to keep a soft scented candle and soft flowers to keep this space of my room nice and calm. I have place a photo of my younger self in an even frame, the photo colours match my rooms colour palette so it won't be confusing against the eye.

I like to have a well lit lamp next to my bed so it's easy for me to read at night. I got this lamp from target and i'm obsessed with the cut out floral design on the lamp shade, especially since it matches my bed spread! I got my bedspread from PB teen and I decided to go for a neutral colour so I could have multiple colours in my pillows. Personally I love lots of pillow on my bed as It makes my room feel very luxurious and girly. It also adds an interesting feature to my space.

On the floor I like to keep a fluffy rug next to my bed as it adds more texture and dimension to a small space. I chose a dark neutral colour so it will be easy to maintain and won't be a distraction from the rest of the room.

I like to make my desk look fun, cute and overall more enjoyable to look at when i'm working or studying. It's a good idea to have a nice clean space when using your desk as it can help you stay focused for longer and not be as distracted from your set task.

On my top shelf I like to add statement pieces and accessories that reflect my style and that will add a pop of colour to the neutral desk. I've added vintage crystal perfume jars across the top shelf to give a glamourous 'shabby chic' feel.

On this side of the top shelf I have gone with a shell theme. I have decorated a glass jar, box and bra with shells that I collected a few summers ago. I think it creates a bit of a quirky look as well as a calming feature to my room. I mixed this theme up with candles and crystal perfume bottles.

Placing flowers in bowls of water can create an interesting and unique centrepiece, it also helps visually balance out the desk.

I have balanced out my book shelf with matching the height on both sides and having a tall centre piece in the middle. I like placing my books in different directions to add some interest to this space. I like to store my electronics and personal items in cute patterned boxes to add another feature to my room.

On my little table I like to place my favourite items and accessories so they can be shown and used more frequently. I have placed the table on the diagonal to make my room not look so boxy. I have also added objects of different heights to create interest for this space.

Gold Look Book!

Its that time of the year again when we get prepped up for the holidays and the upcoming new year. A hot trend featuring this season is a whole lot of gold to celebrate our last month in 2013. I've chosen some sexy and sophisticated gold outfits and accessories that will be great for dancing the night away in or even just a fancy dinner party. These pieces are also great to take inspiration from and create your own gold statement look!

Makeup Haul

Last friday I went on a lovely trip down to Balmain for a bit of shopping and lunch. The weather was great and i've was in the mood for a revamp on my makeup collection, so I headed towards the Mecca Cosmetica store and hung out there for a while, playing around with some of they're makeup. I ended up snagging a few goodies to take home with me.
The goodies I picked up from Mecca Cosmetica!

I needed a new bronzer so I decided to pick up and try the 'ready' bronzer from bare minerals. I've never used a product from this brand before, but so far I'm  finding they're bronzing powder working really well on my skin type. The powder has a matte finish so it gives a natural finish on the skin. I've noticed with this product that you don't need a lot of product when applying as the powder is quite pigmented, I'm definitely going to try out some more bare minerals products after the good experience I've had with they're bronzing powder.
The stila palette 'in the light' is absolutely fantastic! The reason why is purely because the eyeshadow colours are so pigmented and intense for an easy application. I love the shades they chose for this palette, there is such a diverse range of neutral shades, ranging from shimmer to matte finishes. The smudge stick is also great for creating a defined eye look, lately I've been defining my eye crease with it, so I end up with a dramatic sharp finish.
I've always got great expectations from Nars, they're makeup has always worked well for me and has a long lasting time on the skin. For a while I've been wanting to try one of they're highlighting sticks as i've heard so much hype about them. I picked up one in the shade 'Copacabana', and so far I've enjoyed the finish it has left on my skin. It's a bit too shimmering for a natural look, but it works well for a dramatic night one. the product lasts quite a while on the skin, but does tend to need reapplying after a couple of hours. Overall I would definitely repurchase this product again, as I think the quality of it is worth the price your paying for.
Ive been using the Stila 'stay all day' beauty balm everyday for almost a week now, and I have noticed a difference in my overall makeup when applying it on as a primer. The skin's texture becomes a lot smoother and almost lustrous, with a strong noticeability on the illuminating effect the balm contains. I wouldn't say that it has a HD effect, but it does allow the makeup to sit better on the skin.
Playing around with some of the makeup I picked up!

Stila's eyeshadow is really pigmented and can be built up to create an intense eye look.

Blast from the Past

Today I thought i'd reminisce on some past projects I created when I was 14- 16 years of age.
First up is my favourite that I made when I was 16, at this stage of my life I was addicted to the TLC show 'Toddlers and Tiaras', so naturally I decided to make a glitz pageant dress. Some may think its a tacky concept with bad values placed behind a glitzy dress, but for one I loved every minute sewing over the top sequin trims and curly frills!
The next dress was inspired by Australia's beautiful Great Barrier Reef. At the tender age of 16 I wanted to use colour, and lots of it! This dress in particular probably took the longest time to make, but at the time I thought it was worth it. By now you can probably tell my fashion sense is very over the top and full of colour!
when I was 14, there was a part of me that still secretly believed in faeries, so why not make a fairy dress for that off chance that they do exist! If barbie ever needed another fairy dress for her extensive wardrobe then this would be almost perfect for her!
Last but not least is my blue Cinderella like gown, that I wore once to a teen pageant and then a fashion design competition. I can still remember clearly quickly sewing on the sequins on both days of these events, minutes before I went on stage. Lets just say i'm probably not cut out for the hectic pageant lifestyle!
Anyways I hope you enjoy looking at my past sewing projects and got a little glimpse into my past.
