Craving some free time

The last two weeks have been so busy that I hardly had any time at all to do something art-wise. Which frustrates me a lot. Maybe that should be my new years' resolution: Take.The.Time.To.Paint. I really need to, because painting gives me energy and I so miss that feeling. Next week looks like it's going to be more calm, so I keep my fingers crossed that it stays that way.

I have not much to show, but I didn't want to stay away for another week. My art diary has long been neglected, but I did do a few more pages. At least, I tried, but it didn't turn out so well. I had been making a drawing on one double page, and then I felt like playing with some inks on the next two pages. Turns out some of that ink just went straight through my page to the drawings I already made. So it's all a bit messy, but hey, that's what my life looks like at the moment anyway, so maybe it's fitting ;-)

Here's my ink play:

I was getting a bit bored with the collage so I decided to just make marks and "find" things in them. Here's what I found:

No writing on there yet, but it's a start, right!?

And this is the spread with the two figures that got a bit of the ink on them:

Oh well.... It bothered me in the beginning but I'm used to it now, and there will be some writing around it so it won't be so obvious anymore.

I have one more ink-drawing too that I didn't show yet:

I'm planning on getting some more stuff in my Society6-shop. I have gravely ignored it this year....

That's it for now. I really hope next week I can show you the start of a new painting...

I'm looking forward to paying my friends at Paint Party Friday a visit this weekend! Thanks for being here, and thanks to all who have already purchased one of my calendars! I can't see who purchases it, so I can't thank you personally unless you tell me, but know that I really appreciate all of your lovely comments!

I'll finish with some funnies :-)

my heart melts when I see this .... look how content it looks :-)  - sooo cute ♥

And of course also some to think about ...

something I REALLY need to remind myself of ...

Bye for now. Take care and enjoy your day ♥ ♥ ♥

another watercolour girl

I'm late for Paint Party Friday this week. Work commitments and study commitments are wriggling their way into my life. But I love it, despite the busyness :-)

I painted another watercolour girl. I have so many of these drawings in my journal but it's hard to find the time to paint them. I love doing it though.

And here are three more weeks of diary-pages. From now on I hope to keep up with it every week.

I rediscovered my Dylusion sprays. I love the bright strong colours, but I hate the fact that they stay water soluble. So I hardly ever use them. But they are perfect to use in combination with watercolours.

I changed my writing too. My messy non-dominant handwriting was really starting to annoy me, so I tried something I used to do as a kid: writing while holding a ruler underneath it. At least it looks a bit less messy, plus it's a fun way to write.

I now really need to start my yearly calendar, but since I painted so little this year it's going to be hard to find enough images. I will have to use images from older work again. Plus I might make a calendar of my roadmap-faces. Hope to show a few pages next week already :-)

Well, that's it for this week. Except for the funnies of course ;-)

and the more serious ones ....

Thanks for your visit! Hope all is well with you! Wishing you a beautiful day, and something to look forward to in the weekend! See you next week ♥ ♥ ♥

Watercolour girls

I have discovered watercolours again! First with the smudges that I make faces of in my new diary, and now I'm also starting a new "series", if you can call it that, of watercolour girls. I have been sketching a lot of these in the last weeks and now I'm trying them out on watercolour paper. Here's the first one:

I have to try out some things for the background, not sure whether I'll leave it like this, but I had fun making this, and I'm sure more will follow, since it consists of two of my absolute favorite things: making faces and using quotes :-)

Last week I was at the coast with the kids and my mother, in a place with no internet. So I didn't make a blogpost. So here's my diary-spreads from the last two weeks:

Week 4 started out like this:

and turned into this:

And week 5 started like this:

and became this:

I have now gotten into the habit of writing a few lines about my day every day, and I really enjoy reading back through it. I also feel these spreads are becoming more "me". Quotes are creeping in, and I'm trying out different things. We'll see where it ends ....

I'm linking this to Paint Party Friday and will have a look at everyone's blogs this weekend. For the last time this month, since the summer holidays started and I'm going offline for a few weeks to enjoy the time together with family.

I'll leave you with some (actually a lot of!) funnies :-)

And the other ones ....

Thanks so much for your visit and for leaving such lovely comments. I wish you a wonderful day, and a weekend to remember (in a good way of course!).

Take care and I'll be back in a few weeks ♥ ♥ ♥
