Gingerbread....yummm

Hello!! Popping in with another quick post! I’ve completed two of my scrappy Christmas gifts, just one more to go! I am hoping to get it completed tomorrow *crossing my fingers for a good mojo day*
How are you coming on your shopping? With all the storms we’ve had here in MN, I’ve resorted to shopping online this year. I have to say that I missed the hustle and bustle of the crowds, but it sure has been fun having package after package arrive on my doorstep!
While waiting for my packages to arrive, I took some time to create some tags. I just love these guys! I cut the gingerbread out using my Cricut and the Dress UP Paper Dolls Cartridge. I shaded the edges and the center of the “cookies” with a bit of Distress Ink and chalked some cheeks. Next I outlined, added some trim, a bow, and stickled some chipboard hearts for buttons.

I'm off to wrap my gifts, and hang my tags!

So Sad

Pinky has come to a very difficult decision and I am so sad to say that Dirty Scraps is officially closed. I have enjoyed my time as a designer. Thanks for giving me such a wonderful opportunity, Pinky!!!

This layout was inspired by a prompt from Dirty Scraps, a sketch from Sketchabilities, and lots of Sassafrass Lass goodies!

You know me, I have to add some texture and dimension! :)

Thanks for stopping by!!

It's a sultry Sunday

It has been so hot and muggy here! Perfect scrapping weather because it is just to hot out for anything else! Sharing with you a couple more design from the June Featured Kit from Life Preservers.

I looove hanging out at the lake, especially as the sun is setting. I captured this moment a few weeks ago. I printed it on textured Bazzill so it looks like canvas. The colors didn’t turn out as vibrant as photo paper would have though. This is such an uplifting quote. I thought it very fitting for scene and I printed it right onto the photo.
The quote reads:
“Shattered glass is full of a thousand different angles, each one picking up a ray of light and shooting it off in a thousand directions. That doesn’t happen with plain glass, such as a jar. The glass must be broken into many pieces. What’s true of shattered glass is true of a broken life. Shattered dreams. A heart full of fissures. Hopes that are splintered. A life that appears to be ruined. But given time and prayer, such a person’s life can shine more rightly than if the brokenness had never happened. When the light of the lord Jesus falls upon a shattered life, that believer’s hopes can be brightened. Only our great God can reach down into what otherwise would be brokenness and produce something beautiful. With him, nothing is wasted. Every broken dream and hurt that hurts can be redeemed by his loving, warm touch. Your life many be shattered by sorrow, pain or sin, but god has in mind a kaleidoscope through which his light can shine more brilliantly.” ~ Joni Eareckson Tada

Next, is a wedding card. The blue background is one of my faves in the kit! I just had to do something elegant with it! :)

another super fun project!

I bet I took 50 photos of this project at different places and angles. I had a really hard time getting decent photos without glare. The photos really don't do it justice. Anyone have any tips?!
This is an Acrylic Shadowbox Frame from Darcie's. It comes with the backing, 3 diecut layers of chipboard, and an acrylic cover. I love the fact that it had the diecuts come in separate layers making it easier to add dimension to the project. I placed the leaves between different layers and used pop dots so they are floating at different levels. I also propped the house up on pop dots. I added a length of ribbon and bow to hang it.
I used my June Featured Kit from Life Preservers to create this project.

Here are a couple at an angle hoping you can get a feel for the dimension.

Non kit items: ribbon; distress paint; distress ink; lace; button; pearls; acrylic shadow box frame, cricut; Storybook cartridge

ScrapFit Challenge #17

Time for another ScrapFit challenge!

Challenge #17
Create with an egg shape…work your magic on an altered egg, egg shaped card, or wherever your imagination takes you!!

After a few attempts with a papier-mâché egg, I gave in. It just was not going in the direction I had intended. So, I went with an egg shaped card.

Our sponsor, Jillibean Soup, and donated an awesome prize package!! I can’t wait to see your interpretation!!

ScrapFit Challenge #15

Scrapfit Challenge #15
Scrap yourself! This layout should be all about you! The title should read " A day in the life of..." or something quite similar with a small twist.

I added the twist to my title and changed day to moment.

I added Crackle Accents to the butterfly and chipboard button (flower center).

Using my cricut and Walk in My Garden cartridge, I cut the same flower in 5 sizes. Before layering them, I applied Distress ink to the edges, and Distress crackle paint to the petal tips. As the paint dried, the ink bled which added to the distress look. Turned out pretty cool, I think! I finished it off by layering and adding the chipboard button.

For the smaller flowers, I also cut flowers using Walk in My Garden cartridge in the cricut. This time I only cut two layers. Again, I inked the edges with distress inks. I hand cut a sloppy circle slightly larger than the flowers. Using the demin as the bottom layer, I stacked the paper flower layers on top and finished with a corduroy brad.

For a bit of texture and interest, I placed a few of the words on different color paper and attached them to the journaling with pop dots.

Sooo...I've got to tell you a quick secret about the photo...shhhh...don't tell on me though!! I was taking photos of my daycare kids when I ran to the mirror and took a couple quick shots of myself for the layout. I am wearing a ratty old sweatshirt with baby spit on the shoulder and eyeliner is the only makup I have on! I was pleasantly surprised with the shot concidering I was looking like a mess in the middle of a crazy day!

It is also my turn to create a challenge for the ScraFit Forum. I don't know about you, but I am very much in the mood for something springy! I found these fun papers from We R Memory Keepers and decided to create these cute little purses. They kind of remind me of Easter Baskets...maybe it is just the fun springy colors and patterns. Speaking of patterns....that is my March challenge to you! I want to see plaid and polka dot! You can create a layout, card or altered item....whatever you heart desires. My only requirement is a mix of plaid and polka dot! Have fun and don't forget to share!!

This little bee is a stamp the coordinates with the paper line. Isn't he adorable!!! I stamped onto yellow paper, added some stickles to the wings, and attached with a pop dot!

Wow! I just realized how long it has been since I posted!! I was busy working on challenges for our up coming crop at Life Preservers!!! The crop starts Friday evening and goes through Sunday. I hope you’ll pop in and join us for some super sweet games, Make N takes, Challenges, and chatter. It is sure to be a “Latte” fun!! details are here!

Speaking of a “Latte” fun, I got my Life Preservers January Kit in the mail!! IT is the first time I've had the pleasure to work with October Afternoon papers. I am in love with these Farm Fresh papers!! The ribbon/trim in the kit are perfect with it!

I have to say that I don’t feel my projects have done these papers justice. I’ve lost my scrappy mojo, but I’ve been trying to pull myself out of this little lull!

First, I’ll share a layout I created with the kit. I do like the end results, but it is not at all where I was going when I started!

Next, I created a cover for a gift bag…..I really don’t like how this turned out. It seems to be off balance somehow….or maybe it is just me?!! This is my first attempt ever at a shaker box!

Time for a new challenge at ScrapFit!

The challenge is to create a bra card….thank your friends for their support!!

You can find a template and instructions here!

Have an awesome day!
