My Creative Sketches October Reveal

Hello! It’s time for a new sketch at My Creative Sketches! I used papers and embellishments from a mix kits purchased trough My Creative Scrapbook. You have until November 15th to participate for you chance at the gorgeous prize! Details Here

October Sketch

I had some fun by stepping outside my comfort zone and played with my Glimmer Mists and some Resist Canvas shapes from Prima. I added a few different colors to the banner. I really like how it turned out!

Here is another of the canvas pieces using three different colors, blending them in a little closer. This is actually a corner piece that I tucked behind the fussy cut clocks for a bit of depth and texture. To the right, you can see the chipboard frame from Leaky Shed. I painted it with Ranger Distress Paint, added some Ranger Distress Inks around the edges, and finished it off with some Kaiser Craft Pearls.

I layered fussy cut flowers, and the chipboard frame with foam adhesive for dimension.

Head on over to My Creative Sketches for some gorgeous creations from my teammates!! You are sure to come away with oodles of inspiration!!
Thanks for stopping by!!!

Create a Frame

Hello!  I just love the verstility of the dies from Cheery Lynn Designs!  Today's layout features the reflections and border dies combined to create a delicate frame.
Starting from top to bottom, I created the frame for my photo using Mini Pearl Rectangle Reflections Boutique Mega Die, Enchanted Forest Stacker Frame, another layer of the Mini Pearl Rectangle Reflections, and the beautiful Tiffany Border. The bottom layers were trimmed with the gorgeous Francesca and Queen Anne’s Lace borders.
Here is a close up of the Sweet Williams, flower center created from Build a Flower #1. Floliage from Small Leaves 2 and Flourish Leaf Strip.
I created this flower by cutting three layers of Stacker Flower #3, staggering the petals as I adhered them. Again, using parts from Build a Flower #1 to create the center. To the right of the flower is the Large Rose. Darling Daisies can be seen on the left. The leaves are from Stacker Flower #1 Leaf, Small Leaves 2, and the Princess Tree. Other dies used are the Two of Hearts, Fanciful Flourish, and Exotic Butterfly Mini.
There is still time to enter this week challenge for your chance to win the $20 gift certificate for more of these fabulous dies!! Details Here

With Love

Hello!  I'm back again, stepping outside the comfort zone with my dies from Cheery Lynn Designs…You know how I adore my dies and how inspired I am to see what else I can create!
The bottom layer is created with the largest of the Mini Pearl Rectangle Mega Doily Reflections Die set. I just love how versatile the Reflections dies are! Next is the dainty Queen Anne’s Lace border atop the beautiful Border Carnivale. I hand stitched the heart, and then added the Dainty Dutch Deco Frame to back the photo. Under the photo is a strip outlined by the stunning Lace Light Deco Border. Tucked in on the right is the Mega Tea Party Doily.
I created my flower by cutting one layer of Flower Stacker #5 from cardboard, then dry brushed the edges with Distress Paint. I added the little lace doily from the center of the Dainty Dutch Deco Frame underneath the flower along with some pieces of the Fanciful Flourish and foliage from Olive Branches, Stacker Flower #1 leaf, and Large Leaves #2.
Using the mini Exotic Butterfly set, I cut three layers of butterfly from velum. (thanks to my good friend Rhonda for the fun tip!) She rests atop a swirl from the Fanciful Flourish, and a piece of Olive Branches
Banners have been such a fun trend. The Pennant Die is the perfect size for both layouts and cards! Notice the detail on the Pennant?! So Cute!!  I fussy cut the glitter and birds from pattern paper to adorn the top, and added a Miniature Rose to finish it off!

There is still time to enter this weeks challenge for your chance to win a $20 shopping spree!

Nuts About Sketches reveal #169

Time to share another sketch from Nuts About Sketches! I stuck true to the sketch, adding a few extra layers.

I created the layout using some of my favorite papers from Sassafras Las. I fussy cut flowers and leaves from the Smitten line. Using my Helmar Zapdots, I layered the flowers adding dimension around my Prima flowers.
Don't you just love the butterflies?! I cut them from my new Cheery Lynn Designs dies and spritzed them with yellow and Bubblegum Glimmer Mist. Their delicate designs add to the softness of the layout.
I'm off on vacation for the rest of the week for some much needed relaxation and family time! See you when I return!!

Card Challenge!

Hello hello! I’m popping in today with a card for the Imaginisce Blog challenge.
I decided to have a bit of fun with the three strips in the sketch by embossing each of the strips and adding a mini punched border to each edge.

The addition of the jewels and pearls added to the soft femininity I was aiming for. I cut the flowers from pattern paper, curled the edges, and attached with pop dots for a bit of texture and dimension.

Have a super Saturday! Thanks for stopping by!

Friday Fun!

It’s Friday!! Time for some fun!! These are some of my all-time favorite photos of my boys. You would think that at this age they could sit still for a photo shoot, but I’m glad they were themselves. I’m thrilled that the photographer caught it on camera! Their silliness made for a enjoyable day and amusing photos! I’ve been hoarding these photos for a couple years. When I saw the cute little monsters from Jillibean Soup, I instantly thought of these photos!

I fussy cut the monsters from the pattern paper and tucked them here and there peeking out , being silly just like my boys!

To create the calendar, I stamped onto cork and cut around the image. I also ran a strip of cork through my border punch to create the scallop border under the photos.

I used pop dots to add dimension and interest when adhering the title as well as embellishments.

a scrappy day!!

I finally took a day to just sit and create. What a glorious feeling, to be playing with paper and glue again. It so exhilarating watching bits and pieces come together to form something beautiful…tell me I’m not the only one that gets a rush as ideas collaborate constructing a masterpiece!!

My first layout and card of2011!

As always, click on the photos to enlarge.
Pink Paislee; Bazzill; Coredinations; Spellbinders; Jenni Bowli; Ranger Distress paints, inks and Stickles; My Little Shoebox; American Crafts; Prima; Maya Road; Jillibean Soup; Stampin’Up; Martha Stewart; cardboard

I used Sketchabilities sketch #38 as my inspiration to get the ole wheels turning again. I wanted to jazz up the background cardstock a bit, yet I wanted it to be very subtle so I lightly embossed the corners of Core’dinations cardstock using an embossing folder and my rolling pin; then gently sanded over some of the embossed flowers.
Naturally, I had to alter some embellishments with distress paints, and distress inks!

My first attempt at a rolled felt flower! I am excited with how it turned out. I can see how they could easily turn into another addiction! I’m sure you will see more of them soon! :-)

Changing the pace a little, I created a card to play along with Cardabilities sketch #21.

October Afternoon; Making Memories; Cricut (Create A Critter);Martha Stewart; Stampin’Up; Ranger Stickles; Making Memories

I couldn’t resist adding some texture to my squirrel. It’s those little details that add so much, don’t you think!

Thanks for Stopping by!!
