It's Back to School for most of the country this time of year.  So today at BBTB2 my wonderful friend and Design Team sister Brenda asked us to design a "Back to School Project.
It will be so fun seeing what all the Design Team member have created.
For my project I designed a mini book for my granddaughter Kenzie who started preschool this past week.  She is going to preschool two days a week and was one tired puppy after her first day of school.

The book base came from Creative Imaginations.
This is the cover.
Paper is DCWV School stack from Michaels
Kenzie's name is cut from Nate's ABC

Color My World Layout

This is a layout I did of my oldest granddaughter Katie who is now 21 months old.  I knew I wanted to use this picture right away for the Lasting Memories layout challenge.  For the challenge, Recipe time with a little twist,  you were to use one picture, two embellishments, three colors and a song title or words from a song.  My title Color My World is from Chicago song by the same title.  The crayons are cut from the Recess cart.  I used Locker Talk for the title.  The two little embellishments (the easel and the paint palette) were from Michaels.  I also decided to make marks with Stickles that looks like someone colored on the page.  The rick rack is from my moms sewing stash which means it is vintage probably about 50 years old.

Sweet Sassy Design Team Recess Fall Project and Blog Hop winner

For today's project for the Sweet Sassy Diva Design Team this week.  The project  was to design  a project for Autumn.  Well being a teacher for 33 years I always think of Back to School and apples.  I know now school starts early in August for some areas but for us it always started in  September.  I always did a big apple unit with my first graders in September too.  So for this two page layout I used my Recess cart which I hadn't tried yet. If you would like the recipe and more pictures please go to  Sweet Sassy Diva  Come back each day to Sweet Sassy Diva to see new projects from the Design Team.

Playtime Layout using DCWV Playtime stack

I had so much fun making this layout today for some pics of my oldest granddaughter at the playground.  I laid it out on my Gypsy last night so it was ready to cut today.  I finally broke out my DCWV stack "The Playtime Stack". to use. If you haven't seen this stack at Michaels it is printed on card stock paper.  The pieces I used had a nice glittering sheen.  I cut a cloud piece in 1/2 for the top and  and a striped piece for the bottom and then gently curved it to make ground.  There is a list of cuts below the pictures.  After cutting all the pieces I embossed the tree and clouds with Cuttlebug folder Divine Swirls.  I used chalk and smooch ink to accent cuts.  I used glossy accents on the eyes.
Cuts:
Boy on Slide Recess cart cut at 6 inches
Tree from Just Beause Cards cut at 14 inches
Girl jumping rope cut at 5 inches from Playtime
Cloud cut from  Playtime at 4 and 3 1/2 inches
Girl standing from Playtime at 5 inches
Playtime cut at 3 inches and Having fun cut at 2 inches from Playtime
I am entering this layout in three challenges

First Day of School Mini Book for Grades K-12

Hi Everyone and welcome to my post for the Sweet Sassy Diva Design Team today.  I am also entering this in the BBTB2 Challenge  which is to make a project with Locker Talk.   This week the challenge for the SSD Design team is to make a Back to School Project.  Back to School has always been a big deal to me first because I loved school as a kid and both my parents were teachers.  Then for 33 years I taught school so this time of year I would be scrounging for supplies for my classroom.  Well now it means I have been retired for one full year which is hard for me to believe.  I still troll the Back to School aisles and ads looking for great deals on crayons and folders.  Guess those habits are hard to break.
So on to my project.  I decided to make a First Day of School Mini book.  I used an accordian book from Bazil  ( www.bazill basics.com ) that I got at my local scrapbook store on sale.  Here is a picture of the school stack I had.  I have seen new school stacks at Michaels recently.
The folder opens up and each page is 4 x 6.  I made  2 x 4 pockets for the tags.  Each tag was cut with design paper to place in a pocket.  The wallet size pictures would fit on the front of the tag and the back size is blank so that info about teacher, school, etc. could be added on each one.
The recipe for the cuts are at the bottom of the post.

Here is the folder decorated and closed.
