More specifically, the course trains the participants to figure out and to address research questions on joint programming within the ERA, using the JOREP infrastructure, e.g. How relevant are joint programs in the ERA? What kind of integration do they realize? At what level? Which are the main actors involved and how they can be differentiated? How the participation to joint programs can be differentiated by country and disciplines? How skewed is the distribution of resources among joint programmes and what is its impact on the growth dynamics? The presentation of the technical structure of the infrastructure will facilitate the learning of the techniques of consultation and querying. At the end of the course, the trainee will be able to handle the dataset, creating custom queri...

The purpose of this work is to evaluate the effectiveness of the valveless trocar (VT) insufflation system in decreasing postoperative pain and influencing operative time, compared to a standard insufflation system. Methods: A systematic research was performed using MEDLINE, EMBASE, Central Cochrane Library, and CINAHL Plus for studies published up to June 2020. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on adult population evaluating the effects of VT versus a standard insufflation system in laparoscopic surgery and reporting postoperative pain level and operative time were included in the analysis. Data and study quality indicators were extracted independently by 2 authors using a standardized form. Statistical analysis was based on a random effect model, using the inverse variance method. Results: We identified 3 RCTs for a total of 245 patients. The meta-analysis showed a statistically significant reduction in shoulder pain with the use of VT at 24 hours: mean difference (MD) -7.9% (95% confidence interval [95% CI]: -1.29 to 0.29; z = 3.08; P = .002) and a nonstatistically significant increase in operation time: MD 5.80 (95% CI: -8.93 to 20.54; P = .44). Conclusion: Our study suggests a better shoulder pain control at 24 hours postoperation using new-generation VT for laparoscopic surgery compared to standard insufflation system. Weak evidence of increased operating time with the VT was observed considering only two of the three RCTs. PROSPERO registration number: CRD42020191835.

For this reason, the work intends to provide the necessary background information for the development of such strategies, examining the technological aspects, a precise definition of the concept of intangible heritage, the application of a socially innovative strategy for marginal territories, and a framework of strategic actions necessary to implement solutions capable of involving local communities from the bottom up and ensuring a widespread redistribution of the benefits in the development of these technologies. The paper's objective is, therefore, to bridge the gap between different debates: technological innovation, the enhancement of intangible heritage, and territorial development based on socially innovative strategies, providing a key information framework for experts and scholars who intend to approach these topics or develop projects based on these tools and objectives.

We use a sample of medium-sized Italian fast-growing firms. Fast-growth firms are structured enough to plan growth strategies and not depend on occasional external events. The paper provides insight into the lumpiness of the process of firm expansion accompanying its reorganization, conditional on the presence or not of a fast-growth event. Moreover, the analysis shed some light on the relationship between growth and performance and on the growth process of a subsample of young, fast-growing firms to check the presence of differences in the process or the strategy of growth. We find a positive and significant relation between present growth and proxy variables for resources organization, a lumpy growth process, and a positive association of growth and profit for almost the whole sample, i.e., a positive balance between costs and benefit of growth.

However over the past two decades universities have undergone significant transformations, such as the move towards new missions other than teaching and research (Enders & De Weert, 2009), the increasing globalization of the academic sphere, the application of new managerial schemes (Hazelkorn et al., 2010), as well as other changes arising from policy reforms, all of which have combined to reduce employment opportunities in the higher education sector.

In fact the published data highlight the shortages of opportunities and the increasing imbalance between the demand and supply sides of the academic labour market (OECD, 2010). For these reasons, PhD graduates have gradually arrived at a turning point: either the holders of doctorates face high level of unemployment (OECD, 2010) or they accept that they are part of a broader workforce, seeking employment in various sectors (Roa...

The main focus of our analysis mainly is the influence of credit market conditions on investment decisions and we find that the main obstacle to the investment is the level of guarantees that bank demand to grant loans. This element was a constant among all our results, it is relevant for realized investment and for planned ones. All these elements suggest without doubt that the requested guarantees is the most important obstacle in the relationship between firms and banks. An exception to this situation is represented by investments in innovation: guarantees and other elements related to the credit market have no influence on investment decisions suggesting that if the investment project aims at an improvement of firms’ productivity, banks are less hesitant to grant the necessary funding. About economic situation, we found that investments are mainly connected to econo...

A deeper statistical analysis of its main actors enables identifying previously unobvious interrelations and better understanding capacities of a territory. However in most countries the analysis of the geographical distribution of R&D until today has been based, so far, on data broken down at regional level. Only a few countries implement breaking down the available regional data to a much more detailed municipality level. The paper reports some preliminary results of such comprehensive study recently undertaken in Italy. It provides a descriptive analysis on localization of knowledge activities (R&D, patents, publications), evaluates the relationship among the knowledge activities performed by the key actors - business, public sector, higher education and private non-profit organizations, attempts to identify the sectorial R&D specialization of the Ital...
