Transformative Studies

This essay illustrates the Western Enactive approach to perception through the Ayurvedic literature. Ayurveda informs us that our bodies and our world are made up of a variety of energies that interact together in certain degrees to form our states of consciousness and our reality.

Because of my deep interest in the concept of time, I was inspired by Lesson six in the book Seven Life lessons of Chaos by Briggs and Peat, to look further into the concept of time. Time has always been a puzzle to humanity. Despite recent research in quantum physics; there remain many questions about time that are left unanswered.

This poster session is an artistic exploration of the term ‘entanglement’ a term borrowed from quantum mechanics, and used in relation to sexuality. Accompanying the poster is a paper exploring sexuality from evolutionary and mystical perspectives. I begin the paper by defining entanglement and how it relates to the subject of sexuality. I further explore the terms dependency, self- sufficiency, interdependence, interconnectedness, and their relationship to love and sexuality. Next I define sexuality, and briefly trace the evolution of human sexuality and the various theories on why sex is part of human nature. I go on to explore how sexuality has been misused, the ramifications of what it means to our spirituality and what can be done to elevate the human sexual act back into the sacred. Drawing from writings and talks by Dr. John Douillard, the Mystic Almine, Naqshbandi Sufi teacher Llewellyn Vaughn Lee, the Spiritual Catalyst Teal Swan, psychologist and yoga teacher Mariana Caplan, and Christian Pastor Robert Bell, I begin to see hope for humanity to make the shift from viewing sexuality as a commodity into giving it the sacred and spiritual status it so rightfully deserves.

This is a study of pottery remains, and mummies uncovered in North Lebanon in the late 1980's dating to around 12th-14th century. Although there are gaps, and errors within the historical records, they affirm the phenomenon of cave dwelling in the mountains of Lebanon, and the possible social, political, and economic reasons behind such an occurrence.  A reconstruction of the pottery typology assists in correlating the evidence with other sites from the area.

This paper weaves the Jungian idea of archetypes with Kashmir Shaivism , Yogic and Ayurvedic teachings.  The reason for this merger is the use of the findings of longstanding research on creative process to develop a therapeutic creative painting process which I have named: ArtKeyTypes.

In this paper I try to tackle, in some detail the application of cybernetics to imagination. I begin with an introduction of what imagination is; where it takes place, and finally proceed to how this might take place. I conclude with additional emerging questions. Introduction: Why this inquiry Why have chosen this as my inquiry? I have always been interested in highly imaginative works, things, people and places that stand out among other things, people and places. Some that come to mind: Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, Gaudi's Sagrada Familia, Tim Burton's entire works; Johnny Depp; my grandmother's cooking and most recently the mystic Almine, who was trained as a three pronged nagual and shaman.

COS is the first journal to be dedicated to the rapidly growing requirements of reflective hybrids in our complex 21st-century organisations and society. Transsexual individuals present to the emergency department for various reasons; yet, providers and nurses are often unaware of the unique needs of transsexual patients. This article provides an understanding of challenges faced by transsexual individuals in health care access and treatment. The authors explain commonly used terminology and provide an overview of the transition process including the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, 4th edition criteria for diagnosis and the World Professional Association of Transgender Health's Standards of Care for treatment. The authors provide important details and specific recommendations for the culturally sensitive care of transsexual patients including using the correct name and pronoun, eliminating bias and discrimination, asking appropriate questions, implementing trans-inclusive policies and guidelines, and proper record keeping.
