Green Balls on Blue Court

My Mama is obsessed with tennis nowadays. Not playing it but watching it on TV. Been spending heaps of time in front of the idiot box. Summer also means the Australian Open, or Grand Slam of the Pacific. Mama says the players are getting younger and stronger. Frankly, I think they're all on steroids. Mama says she likes this Spaniard by the name of Fernando Verdasco. He's cute, she said. And, only 25! Mum, I'll report you to Dad!

Problem is, Brad is as addicted as my Mama! Look at him watching TV! I got proof...

Mama says she also likes Roger Federer coz he has heaps of chest hair. Sexy, she said. And, only 27! What's wrong with my Mama? Help! As far as I'm concerned, I'm the only one who's CUTE and SEXY. No other creature can beat me...

Dead and Lamented

This was it. The red rose plant that my mum has been nurturing. And now it's dead. Let's pray that it has gone to rose's heaven. Amen....

The Roachers Are Back!!!

I had a nightmare last night! I dreamt that I was half buried in the sand at Cronulla Beach and someone was pouring buckets of live cockroaches on my head...yuk! gross!
Much as I like summer in Sydney, I also hate the six-legged creatures that come out of hibernation during this season. Despite Mama's attempts at pest control (bombs, spray, traps, baits etc) there's like millions of them at home. Especially in the kitchen, especially where my food is.
Apparently there are two species of this nasty roachers - American and German. The Americans would invade your bathroom, darker in colour than the Germans who would infest your kitchen. So, they must be imported in the first place. Or stowaways in those convict ships a century ago. How come there's no Aussie roach?
Then there's also the flies. I'm talking about humongous blue bottles. They will come in droves if you dare to have a barbie in the backyard on a hot summer day. I'm somewhat amazed with Brad's ability to catch these flying pests. Can you imagine those tiny paws catching those filthy creatures? But then you have to see him in action to believe it.
I killed some roachers yesterday. I guess that's why I had the nightmare last night. Should I have compassion for my fellow creature, no matter how disgusting they are?

Mama's Garden

I managed to retrieve some pix of my Mama's garden. These plants are gone too. They're supposed to be water wise Aussie native plants (succulents) but all died due to "moisture stress." Blame her buddies! They were supposed to water her plants while she was away. Or blame the weather...duh...whatever....

Mama's Garden

That's me sunbathing at my mum's garden...

It was Australia Day yesterday. So, Mama was at home and she decided to restart her garden that was completely ruined when she was away. It's a scorcher, this summer, and the plants suffer.
Mama is particularly upset that her rose plant is dead, completely dried out. I must say that plant has been giving me joy too even though it would flower only one at a time. It's that beautiful deep red velvety type. I had fun brushing my cheeks against the flower. It has a beautiful smell. And now it's gone...
Gone as well are Mama's herbs. She has thousands of parsley, coriander and mint planted as she uses them in her cooking. I especially love it when she plants lemon grass as I quite enjoy munching the aromatic leaves...
So, yesterday I saw her bringing some new plants and seeds from Flower Power. She must have spent a fortune there. I know she likes Flower Power not just for plants and gardening stuffs, but because it also has a cafe. She told me there's an aviary next to the cafe so there's no way she'll let me near the birds. Hahaha...as if I have time for those birds. I have better things to do, like biting Brad's ears.
Brad was so annoying this morning that I decided to teach him a lesson while Mama was in the shower. Pity her, having to clean the floor as Brad was bleeding. Not profusely that he'll die but enough to make him go and sort himself out. He has to learn that there'll be consequences if he provokes me.
Anyway, back to Mama's garden. She's now planted more herbs and put mulch on top of the soil. To lock in the moisture, she says. People, the weather is so erratic nowadays. It was more than 40oC on Saturday and cooler yesterday, about 28oC as it was drizzling. Today, I must say it's quite humid because the rain hasn't stopped. But good for me as I could now spend the day sleeping....zzzzzzzz
