Mo's Challenge #145

Who Let  the Dogs Out?!

We did, of course! The theme of Mo's Challenge this week is "In the Dog House", so doing something having to do with dogs, using one of Mo's fantastic images, is your mission.
I've chosen to use "Guilty Rocco" for my card. I think we've all seen that contrite look an a dog's face before....."Did you do that? Bad doggie!"
I don't know what he's done, but he's begging for forgiveness!

I had fun making this card! I did some things I haven't done for quite some time...I used eyelets and an actual stamp! I stamped the fire hydrants, colored them with Copics,  and used Versa Mark and clear embossing powder to give them a shine.
Since I had no 'doggie' embellishments, I decided to  make a dog collar. I cut  a piece of CS the right size to fit an SU! ribbon buckle, ran it through a crimper, added some eyelets (I had to remember how to set them!), and was done. I'm pleased with the result.
The brown paper that the DP is mounted on is a light-weight cardboard used to separate layers of cat food in a box. I liked the color and texture of it!

Inside: "Please forgive me!"

Images: "Guilty Rocco" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Fire hydrant stamp from The Doodle Factory, Computer-generated sentiment

Tools: Copics, Prismacolor pencil, Paper crimper, Mounting tape, Fine black marker, Tacky tape, Memento and Versa Mark ink pads, Clear embossing powder.

Papers: SU! Real Red, Neenah smooth white, Light-weight cardboard, Basic Grey DP

Embellishments: SU! ribbon buckle, eyelets

Don't forget to visit the rest of the DT blogs for inspiration!
Can't wait to see your cards and projects this week! Just be sure to use one of Mo's images!

So glad you stopped by!

Mo's Challenge #143

You Should be Dancing!

Mo's Challenge this week is "Singing and Dancing", and Mo has so many images that could be used!

I've used "Mary Tapping" on my card. I just love her exuberance! There is a newer version of her in Mo's shop.

I did something a little different with the image this time. It's a twist on the 'Out-of-the Box' technique. After printing and coloring the image, I cut her arms, legs, and skirt partially away from the panel. Then I used Nestibilities dies to cut an oval in the DP and to make a frame out of red CS. I placed the image panel behind the frame and brought the cut away parts through the opening so that she looks as though she's jumping out of the frame. I like the effect!

Images: "Mary Tapping" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Sentiment from SU!s Warm Words stamp

Tools: Copics, Fine black marker, Cuttlebug with Nestibilities ovals, Nellie Snellen embossing leaf punch set

Papers: SU! Daffodil, Real Red, Garden Green, Neenah smooth white, Bearly Mine Designs DP

Embellishments: Satin ribbon, Lace, Flowers (WOC)

So get on your dancing shoes, use your best singing voice, and make a card or project using one of Mo's great images for a chance to win a gift certificate to Mo's store!

Start the music!

Mo's Challenge #142

Another "Anything Goes"!

I think everyone loves an 'Anything Goes' challenge....I  know I do! It's fun to be able to let your creativity go where it wants to go without any restrictions.

I've used Mo's image based on the book, Anne of Green Gables. This card was made for one of our six coworkers who left school this June.

Image: "Prince Edward Island" from Mo's Digital Pencil

Tools: Copics, Mounting tape,Nellie Snellin Rose Leaf embossing punch set. SU! Three Flower punch

Mo's Challenge #141

.

Straight From the Heart

Mo's Challenge this week is to make a card or project using one of her wonderful images and hearts. The hearts can be on the image, the papers, used as embellishments...it's your choice!

I've used her cute "To Grammy's" on my card. I just love her sweet little face!

Cleaning out my stash the other day, I came across some paint sample strips that my son had given me years ago. I decided to punch flowers out of them. The graduated colors on the strips make pretty little color coordinated flowers!

Tools: Copics, White gel pen, Cuttlebug with Cheery Lynn Lattice die and Swiss Dot embossing folder, Nellie Snellen Rose Leaf embossing punch set, SU!s  3  flower punch, Mounting tape

Papers: SU! Pirouette Pink, Bashful Blue, Pacific Point, Wild Wasabi, Neenah smooth white CS, Paint strips

Embellishments: Grosgrain ribbon, Brads, Heart charm, Bead

Please check out the other team members' blogs to see their wonderful work, then make something pretty and join us in this Mo's Challenge this week for a chance to win a gift certificate to Mo's shop!

I love it when you stop by!

Mo's Challenge #140

The Men in Your Life!
Mo's Challenge this week is to make a masculine card.
I have always loved making cards for men, but haven't made many lately.  Mo drew this cute little guy quite a while ago when I requested an image of an old-fashioned newsboy, and I'm just getting around to using him now! I think he's just perfect for birthday cards!

Inside: "Someone is a year older! Happy Birthday!"

Images: "Extra" from Mo's Digital Pencil , Computer-generated sentiment

Tools: Copics, Prismacolor pencil, Dauber, Creamy Caramel ink pad, Fiskar's border punch, Deckle edge rectangle die

Papers: SU! Kraft, Basic Black, Neenah smooth white,  Basic Grey and My Mind's Eye DP

Embellishments: Brads

This one uses one of the three images from  Mo's "Lazy Mutt"set.
I made it to give to our school janitor, who left at the end of this school year.

Images: "Lazy Mutt" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Digital Sentiment (Unknown source)

Tools: Copics, MS border punch, Black fine line marker

Papers: SU! Taken with Teal, Creamy Caramel, Neenah smooth white, Basic Grey DP

Embellishments: Grosgrain ribbon, Brads

This one uses an image I found on the web. I use it only for cards I give to family and friends. This one went to a brother-in-law.

The inside says, " ...Another 'wrenching' reminder that you're getting older! Happy Birthday!"

Images: Digital image, Computer-generated sentiment

Tools: MS border punch, Glue dots

Papers: SU! Creamy Caramel, Garden Green, Burgundy,  Neenah smooth white, Paper Studio DP

Embellishments: Wooden buttons, Twine, Grosgrain ribbon, Wrench charm

So there you have it, some of my examples of cards for the men in your life. Grab one of Mo's fabulous masculine images and make a card or project to enter in Mo's Challenge this week.

 Glad you stopped in!

Mos Challenge #139

Saturday, At the Park!

So many things go on at a park that I thought this would be a fun theme! I love Mo's animal images, so I chose "G-fa Giraffe" for my card. After all, a zoo is a zoological park!

This is one of several cards I had to make for co-workers who will be leaving us this year, six in all! You'll see others in the coming weeks.

Mo's Challenge this week is to make a card or project that has something to do with the weather. Use at least one of Mo's images in your design. She has many wonderful  images that would be perfect!

I love this image! She's just so much fun to color! I didn't have brads the right color, so I colored them with Copics.

Mo's Challenge #136

Where Ya Goin' ?

This week Mo's Challenge is to make a card or project with the theme of traveling or other cultures using a least one of Mo's images.  Mo has many images that would work beautifully with this theme!

I've used "Dream" which is also available in a girl version.

Inside: "No! It's a high-flying wish for your special day! Happy Birthday!"

I really like the way the coloring on this turned out. I felt the card didn't need any embellishments because of the background I made.
I love using up scraps of designer paper because I generate a lot of it! This pattern is a great way to use odd shaped pieces, and the design highlights the image nicely. I cut a piece of computer paper 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" and drew a dot with lines that radiated from that point. Then I cut out the pieces of computer paper and used them as patterns to cut out the scraps. The scraps were then glued onto 4 3/4" x 6 3/4" card stock, leaving an 1/8 th inch reveal. The last step was to stitch around all the pieces. I'm sure I'll be doing this again!

Images: "Dream" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Computer-generated sentiment

Tools: Copics, Prismacolor pencil, Oval punch, Sewing machine

Papers: SU! Bordering Blue, Bashful Blue, Neenah smooth white, Assorted DP scraps

I hope you'll join us in Mo's Challenge for a chance to win a gift certificate to Mo's shop!

Mo's Challenge # 135

What Makes the World Go 'Round?

Mo's Challenge this week is to make a round card. I sell most of the cards I make and rarely make cards that aren't 7 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches, so this was a real challenge for me! I tried to design  my rocker card to fit that size envelope, but my measurements were off, so I'll have to make a custom envelope for it.

I like the style of these cards because they are easy for the recipient to display. It was fun to make, too!
The image I used is Mo's "Baby Boy S" that is also available in a bald version and as a girl.
The flowers were made with my new Memory Box "Cherry Blossom" die. I'm in love with their beautiful
designs! I want them all!

This is how it looks opened flat. The sentiment is on the back.

Image: "Baby Boy S" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Digital circle sentiment

Tools: Copic markers, Gold Spica pen, Cuttlebug with Memory box and Marianne dies, Nellie Snellen Embossing Leaf punch set, Circle Punches,  Glue dots

Papers: SU! Daffodil, Teal, Garden Green, Neenah smooth white, Paper Pizzaz yellow gingham DP

Embellishments: Tiny brads, Doodlebug paper lace trim

We'd love to see how you'd design a round card, so see what you can come up with using one of Mo's images and enter for a chance to win a gift certificate to Mo's Digital Pencil!

Mo's Challenge #134

So You Think That's Funny!

Mo's Challenge this week is to make a humorous card or project using one of Mo's fantastic images! I love funny cards, so this was a joy for me!

Meet "Oskar", an image Mo drew based on her grandfather, who also happens to be "Mummu's" husband!
She's promised more from him in the future; skiing, hiking, etc.! He was quite an outdoor's man from what she said.

The inside says, "....but at least you're still playing with a full deck! Happy Birthay!"

Images: "Oskar" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Computer-generated sentiment

Tools: Copics, Paper crimper, Glue dots

Papers: SU! Real Red, Basic Black, Neenah smooth white, Basic Grey DP

Embellishments: Brads, Mini playing cards

So that's your assignment. We'll be waiting to see if you can make us laugh, and possibly win a gift certificate to Mo's store!

Mo's Challenge # 133

 Follow the Yellow Brick Road!

For Mo's Challenge this week you have the option of using Iulia's great sketch or do an Anything Goes card or project using one of  Mo's wonderful images!
I liked the sketch, but went with the second option for my card.

I made a  card using "Kansas" because our granddaughter is in "The Wizard of Oz" at her school,  playing dual roles as a Munchkin and citizen of Oz.

I used a Paper Studio embossing folder that reminded me of sunflowers and made sunflowers out of Prima daisies and corduroy brads from SU!. I drew the yellow brick road using Copics. I've colored her ruby slippers with a Spica pen, but the sparkle doesn't show up in the photo.

Tools: Copics, Prismacolor pencil, Spica pen, Cuttlebug with Embossing folder Nellie Snellen embossing leaf punch set, Mounting tape, Needle and thread

Papers: SU! Daffodil and Summer Sun, Pacific Point Blue, Garden Green, Neenah smooth white

Embellishments: Prima daisies, Corduroy buttons, Grosgrain ribbon, Button

Mo's Challenge # 131

Stop and Smell the Flowers!

Mo's Challenge this week is to use flowers on your cards or projects. That's hardly a challenge at all! You can use ready-made flowers or use your creativity and make your own.

,
The inside says, "...for all the joys of a new baby girl? Well, ready or not, here she comes!"

My half-fold card uses Mo's cute new image, "buskettie". What a sweet image, and one I think all parents can relate to!

I made this to give to our youngest son and his wife for their baby shower this past Sunday. The baby is due on April 30th, but it looks as if she may come early!
I chose to make it in the colors of the adorable  nursery they've prepared for her. It's all in pink and brown polka dots with a subtle giraffe theme.

Here's the cake I ordered from a wonderful bakery in a nearby town. It was four layers of white cake with a raspberry filling and butter-cream frosting. Delicious!

Images:"buskettie" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Computer-generated sentiment

Tools: Copic markers, Cuttlebug with  Memory box swirl border die, Nellie Snellen embossing leaf punch set, Mounting tape, Sticky tape

Mo's Challenge #130

Seeing Spots!

What fun! This was such an easy challenge because the spots can be anywhere;  ribbon, papers, flowers, images, or background! Go wild and have spots on everything!

My card has spotted DP, a spotted background treatment, and spotted stockings on the fun image.
The red ruffle was made from some shiny paper that came wrapped around a bouquet of flowers that my husband gave me. It was such a pretty color that I couldn't throw it away before trying to use it for something! I sewed it with the machine using a basting stitch, gathered it and sewed it behind the image panel.
We have a new DT member, Barb Hardeman! I was remiss in not mentioning her last week.
Please check out what she and the other Team Members  have to inspire you with!
Images: "A Big Whoop!" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Digital Sentiment

Tools: Copics, Cuttlebug with Cheery Lynn border die and Quikcutz swirl die, Nellie Snellen embossing leaf punch set, Sewing machine

Papers: SU! Cool Caribbean and Certainly Celery, Neenah smooth white, Basic Grey DP!

Embellishments: Assorted flowers from WOC, Pearl cabochons

So grab an image from Mo and have some fun with spots in Mo's Challenge this week!

We'll be waiting to see what you do!
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

More Spots!

I recently bought a few digital images from A Day For Daisies, and this is the first card I've made with them.
I used a gel pen to make the dotted Swiss pattern on the girls hat and dress. The cloud in the background was the result of a splotchy Copic marker! I had to cover the mess with opaque white marker and decided to turn it into a cloud! I swear that there isn't much you can't fix when you're making a card!

I continued the scallop theme from the trees by cutting out a frame with a scalloped Nestie, and trimmed the DP along the scalloped design as a border along the top. Even the rose petals have scalloped edges!

Image: "Magical Wood, Margaret Evans Price Style" from ADFD

Tools: Copics, Opaque white marker, White gel pen, Cuttlebug with Nestie, Nellie Snellen embossing leaf punch set,, Mounting tape

Papers: SU! Tempting Turquoise, Peach Parfait, Neenah smooth white, SU! and My Mind's Eye DP

Embellishments: Grosgrain Ribbon, Flowers from Prima and WOC

Thanks for looking!

Mo's Challenge #129

Your Choice!

For Mo's Challenge this week our hostess, Iulia, has given us the choice between following a great sketch or doing whatever catches our fancy. I thought the sketch was great, so that's what inspired my card this week.

Our 46th anniversary is coming up in May, so I made a card for my husband. This couple could be us! He's tall and thin, and I'm.....well....not! We'll leave it at that! LOL!
After our very first date, I told my mother that I was going to marry him. She asked me if he knew it yet, and I told her, "No, but he will!"
The poor guy never had a chance! A little over a year later we were married in a little brown church not far from where we live now. He's the best thing that ever happened to me, and I think he likes me a little, too!

I love his sparkling blue eyes!

 ***********************************
Here's the sketch, if you choose to use it for inspiration.

Tools: Copics, Cuttlebug with Sizzix embossing  folder, Mounting tape, Tacky Tape, Distressing tool, SU! Creamy Caramel ink pad

Papers: SU! Poppy Parade, Close to Cocoa, Neenah smooth white, My Mind's Eye Stella DP

Mo's Challenge #127

Bling It On!
We are asking that you  use some bling on your card or project this week for Mo's Challenge. I've used one of Mo's sweet angels for my card, along with a lot of gold accents. I like this card except for the coloring of the puppy. I think the black spots throw the whole  thing off, but I had no time to make another, and I'm sure the recipient won't care!

Images: "Angel With Puppy" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Digital sentiment

Tools: Copics, Spica pen, Versa Mark pad, Gold EP, Heat gun, Oval punches, Nellie Snellen embossing leaf punch set, Marianne swirl die, Mounting tape

Papers: SU! Certainly Celery, Close to Cocoa, Gold metallic CS, Neenah smooth white, Basic Grey DP

Embellishments: Flower from WOC

So that's your challenge for this week. Use as much or as little glitz on your card or project as you like, along with one of Mo's great images for a chance to win a gift certificate to Mo's Digital Pencil!
Good luck!

Buttons and Bows!

That's the challenge for you in Mo's Challenge this week . Pretty easy, don't you think?!
Almost every card I make has a bow on it, so it's not too difficult to add a few buttons!

I've used Mo's cute "Spit Happens" for this card. This is such a sweet image...perfect for cards
for baby boys or girls, depending on how you color it and the papers and embellishments you use!  It's always good to have a few baby cards on hand.
I save every ribbon scrap when I make bows. They can be used with brads to make
these pretty embellishments!

Image: "Spit Happens" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Digital sentiment

Tools: Copics

Papers: SU! Tempting Turquoise and Gable Green, Neenah smooth white, Paper Studio DP

Mo's Challenge # 125

Try Something New!

Well, I certainly did do something new! I've been eying  'book cards' for quite some time now.  I loved them, but it seemed as if they'd be so difficult! Thanks to our new Design Team member, Tracy MacDonald, and her wonderfully clear instructions, I decided to give it a try! You can find her tutorial HERE!
I'll definitely be making more of these fun books!

Be patient with me, I have a lot of pictures to show you!

The crazy, bright color scheme was taken right from the Paper Studio DP. This 'book' is an Easter gift for our granddaughter, and she'll love the colors!

This is the inside view. I added the corner trim to finish it off neatly. I also closed mine differently, using  Basic Grey  magnets. I tucked a matching bookmark (using  ribbon of all the different colors) into the strap. I'll be putting a sentiment on a Nesties label and attaching it inside the compartment.  I'll also put in a gift card and some candy.

This view shows the shine of the Spica glitter pens I used on this sweet little fairy.

Another close-up!

A final view of the back binding.

This was a lot of fun, and I hope you'll visit Tracy's blog and give it a try! There are several steps, but none are too difficult or tricky. Really, the hardest thing about this was photographing and blogging it!

Image: Teen Fairy Pia from Mo's Digital Pencil

Tools: Copics, White gel pen, Spica glitter pens, Sewing machine, Cuttlebug with Marianne swirl die, Nellie Snellen embossing leaf punch set, SU! Tag punch, ScorPal

Papers: SU! Calypso Coral, Bazzill textured green and lavender, Neenah smooth white, Paper Studio DP

Embellishments: Prima and WOC flowers, Pearl cabochons, Button

Now you go ahead and try something new using an image from Mo's Digital Pencil and enter it in Mo's Challenge this week for a chance to win a gift certificate! Mo gives out one certificate for every fifty entries, so tell all your friends to enter, too!

I'm always thrilled when you visit!

Mo's Challenge #124

Sketch or Anything Goes!

This week we have the choice of following a sketch or doing anything we like! I almost  always choose to do what I like, but I was inspired by the symmetry of Iulia's (our hostess this week) sketch.

I think this image is adorable! It reminds me of our oldest daughter when she was little. She was a climber!  She would keep trying until she'd mastered it, then keep getting down and back up again until she felt comfortable with her accomplishment. It was fun to watch such determination!

The little clusters of punched flowers and leaves were inspired by the patterned paper. I really like the effect!
I didn't  realize that  the center on one of the red flowers had fallen off until after I'd edited the photo. I'll fix it before putting it out for sale.

Images: "Big Chair" (also available in a boy version) from Mo's Digital Pencil, Digital sentiment from Ginger's House

Tools: Copics, White gel pen, Assorted mini punches, Mounting tape, Glue dots

Papers: SU! Blushing Bride and Real Red, Neenah smooth white, and SU! "Twitterpated" DP

Here's Iulia's great sketch, if you decide to use it.

This card uses another designer paper from SU! called "Everyday Enchantment".  I got a 6"x6" sample of each paper in the collection from a friend who's an SU! demonstrator. I liked it so much that I got the digital version as a Sale-a-bration  reward! This one reminds me of wallpaper from the 20's or 30's. And, no, I wasn't around then!
