Mo's Challenge #104

Sweet Leilani

I'm hostessing the challenge again this week, and I thought it would be fun to use a song for inspiration. We all have songs that remind us of places we've been,  people we love, or  those tunes that make us feel happy or nostalgic.
Several songs came to mind for me, but I settled on "Sweet Leilani" because my husband was born in Hawaii, and I just love visiting the Islands. In fact, we are going again when school gets out in June with two of our children, their spouses and all of our grandchildren! It will be my third visit, and I can hardly wait!

I've used "Pineapple Girl" which is one from Mo's series of little girls with different fruits. They are all just adorable!
The seed pods in the picture were some we picked up on the beautiful Hawaiian beaches during our last visit.

Tools: Copics, Prismacolor Pencil, Cricut machine, Mounting tape

Papers: SU! Soft Shadow,  Groovy Guava, Certainly Celery, Garden Green  CS, Neenah smooth white, Textured DP from stash, Corrugated cardboard

Embellishments: Magic Mesh, Prima flowers, Flower brad

So now it's your turn to  make a card or project that is inspired by a favorite song using one of Mo's images, and join us in Mo's Challenge for a chance to win one of her wonderful images to add to your collection!

So happy you visited!

So Sketchy!

Mo's Challenge #97

The challenge Iulia, our hostess, has for us this week is to follow a sketch. I love sketch challenges. They take most of the guess work out of putting a card together.

I've used  Mo's "Nesto" for this card. Isn't he a hoot?! Mo does such a wonderful job of capturing kids playing and using their fertile imaginations! With a pail on your head, you can be anything!

Images: "Nesto" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Seashells by Guy Gordon from Making Our Mark, Sandcastle (unknown source)

Tools: Copics, White gel pen, Cuttlebug with Nesties and Embossing folder, Oval Punch, Mounting tape

Papers: SU! Only Orange, Garden Green, Neenah smooth white, Basic Grey and Cosmo Cricket DP

Here's Iulia's great sketch!

It's your turn! Grab one of Mo's images and use this sketch to create a card to enter in Mo's Challenge!

See you there!

In Mint Condition!

Just for Fun!
I've had time lately to just color and make cards that aren't for DT's , customers, or even for me to send to friends and family. It's fun to do that on ocassion!
SU! discontinued their color called Mint Melody a few years ago, but I still have some sheets left. It was never a favorite color, but lately I seem to be using it a  lot.  I like it with some of the other SU! colors like Tempting Turquoise and Cool Caribbean.

This is a vintage image from Digital Two for Tuesday. She has some really pretty images from days gone by. She was reaching for butterflies in the image, but they were cut off when I used the Nesties.

Tools: Cuttlebug with Nestie circle, and Marianne swirl die, Martha Stewart Bird and Lace border punches, Tacky Tape

Papers: SU! Mint Melody & Barely Banana, Gold metallic, Neenah smooth white,  Basic Grey DP

Embellishments: Ruffled lace, Ribbon slot lace, Satin ribbon, Small roses and buds from WOC, Two sizes of pearl cabochons, Metallic gold doily

Beach Glass

This didn't turn out the way I had intended, but I'm sure someone will buy it  anyway! LOL!'
I do like the beads, though.  They look worn and hazy......just  like beach glass.

The inside says, " ...to play every day!"

Images:"Sand Castle" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Digital sentiment (?)

Tools: Copics, White gel pen, Cuttlebug with Label Nesties and embossing folder, Oval punches, Diamond Glaze

Papers: SU! Mint Melody, Tempting Turquoise, Not Quite Navy, Neenah smooth white

Embellishments: Glass beads, Real and plastic shells, Printed grosgrain ribbon, Shell bad, Flower Soft

Glad you stopped by!

Mo's Challenge # 39

Fun in the Sun!

I think you'll find my challenge this week a little easier than last week's! Just think 'fun in the sun'....any Mo's image that evokes summer fun will do! I made two cards that fit the criteria.

For the first, I chose "Pool Party", a cute image of Bella & Bronte ready for a swim. I had fun combining it with a few other images to create a beach scene.
I tore the CS to create the 'water' and 'sand' and used Flower Soft for the 'clouds' and 'sea foam'. A stamp from the SU! Itty Bitty Borders set was used to create the look of sand by stamping repeatedly with several shades of brown and gold inks.

Digital images: "Pool Party" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Palm tree from The Digi Doodle Shop, Crab from a coloring book site

Card Stock: SU! Soft Sky, Cool Caribbean, Gable Green, Barely Banana, Tempting Turquoise, Taken with Teal, Yo-Yo Yellow. PTI White

Tools: Copics, Scissor, White gel pen, Assorted brown SU! ink pads, Scissors, Mounting tape, Glue dots

Embellishments: Flower Soft, Plastic shell charms

Stamps: SU! Itty Bitty Backgrounds, Hero Arts sentiment, Eat Cake Graphics smiling sun

For the second card I used  Mo's "Lacie with Ice Cream". Isn't she the cutest thing?!

Card Stock: SU! Barely Banana, Melon Mambo, Rose Red, PTI White

Patterned Paper: Basic Grey Cupcake

Tools: Copics, White gel pen, Cuttlebug with Embossing folder, Mounting tape

Embellishments: Grosgrain ribbons

Have fun with this and enter to win a fabulous image from Mo's shop!
We're waiting to see your Idea of summer fun!

Mo's Challenge # 30

 Beach Dreams

Denise is our hostess for the month of May. Her first challenge to us is to use a water theme with one of Mo's great images. I've had this image, "So Hot", since last summer and this is the first time I've colored it!.
Another first for me....an easel card. I've been admiring everyone's creations for some time now, but never got around to trying one until now.

I had to come up with different measurements for a 5" by 7" card. I cut one piece  of card stock 5" by 12", and scored at 7", and again at 3 1/2". I cut another 5" by 7" for the card front and adhered that to the 1 1/2" folded section.

I think I went a bit overboard with the design elements on this....just couldn't seem to get the look I was going for. The sun is a stamp from Eat Cake Graphics. The crab and fish are coloring book images. All the images were colored using Copics and Prismacolor pencils and adhered to the card with mounting tape. The blue swirl DP is from a Making Memories pad, and the green bubble DP is from SU!'s Kaleidoscope collection. The textured Gable Green CS is also SU! as is the sentiment stamp.

The tiny shells are from a seashell necklace from Hilo Hattie's store in Honolulu. Everyone gets one when you go through the door. The little starfish are lavender plastic charms that I colored with a Copic marker.
This card is for our grandson, Caleb, who will be turning ten in June. He's a real water bug, so this image is perfect for him!
Mo has plenty of images that could fit the water theme, so check out the store and enter this week's challenge. We can't wait to see what you do!

 Snappy!

In keeping with the water theme, I'll share a picture of a recent visitor to our back yard.

Our land runs along the Suncook River, which lies at the bottom of a fairly steep cliff at the side of our yard. Because of our location, we share the acreage with a lot of different wild life. We've seen snapping turtles in the water before, but never in our yard. He had to have put forth a Herculean effort to get up here from the river. My young cat, Elijah, was very curious, and had to be chased away to keep from being bitten by this rather large fellow.
