String Art With a Stencil

Hello! I created another project using the Blank Page Muse Pumpkin Trio Stencil.
The first card (see here)
involved using a stylus and fussy cutting.

Today's project involves using a paper piercer and stitching. I hope you like it.

I positioned the stencil on a kraft cardstock. I used the largest pumpkin for my project. I created a landscaped card so the pumpkin is on the top two thirds of the panel. Using the stencil as a guide, I poked holes on the kraft cardstock using a paper piercer.

I made sure that I poke holes on the corners of the open area of the stencil. I avoided poking holes too close to each other to avoid ripping the paper during stitching.

I used the stencil to guide me in stitching.

I used a DMC Variegated Floss to add interest to the stitched image.

I colored the stitch pumpkin with mica paint.

To add a fabric feel on the stitched panel, I ran this through my die cutting machine using a texture plate.

The sentiment was also poked using an alphabet stencil. I blended ink around the pumpkin to mute down the bright kraft cardstock. I added a strip of cardstock to the right of the panel.

What a great way to stretch this stencil! I always like it when I can create several things using a product.

Fussy Cut Stenciled Image

Hello! I am glad to be back after taking a month break from my BPM DT duties. Today's project features another creative way of using a stencil in which aside from inking on the stencil, you fussy cut the inked image to create an embellishment. Just another way to stretch those supplies.

The focal point of my card was created using the Blank Page Muse Pumpkin Trio Stencil. The stencil includes three pumpkins of different sizes. I used the largest one.

I blended an orange dye ink on an orange cardstock using the stencil. I used a darker orange ink for the ink blending. I masked the leaf and stem area of the pumpkin since I will be using another color for the stem and leaves.

Without removing the stencil, I added outlines to the blended image using a stylus. This adds a recessed outline on the image.

I used the impression created by the stylus on the back side of the cardstock as a guide to reposition the stencil. I flipped the stencil as well since I will be working on the back side of the impressed panel.

I repeated the step of using the stylus to create an outline on the pumpkin. I used the outline I created earlier as a guide. You don't have to do this step but I wanted the outlines to be raised on the inked pumpkin. I fussy cut the inked pumpkin, leaving a border around the inked image.

I repeated this process on the leaves and stem changing the colors of ink and the cardstock. If you notice, I used a brown color for the stem which I changed as I was working on the project.

To add depth to the leaves, I used the ball end of the stylus to curl the paper.

I punched a Jack o' Lantern face on the inked pumpkin. I adhered a pearl black cardstock to the back of the pumpkin to cover the holes created by the punch. I embellished the pumpkin with a twine, vellum and a clear gem. I added Ranger Glossy Accent to the face. Isn't the pumpkin cute?

For the panel, I trimmed a patterned paper at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" from a 6x6 patterned paper. Using the left over patterned paper, I ran this through my die cut machine using a die that pokes holes on paper. I added stitching to the holes on the strips.

I adhered the strips to the panel. I adhered a sentiment from a cut apart patterned paper. I adhered the pumpkin with foam adhesive.

I hope you like today's project.

Fall Trees

Fall is one of my favorite seasons, I love the colors of the changing leaves!

The colors are so beautiful.

Today I am taking inspiration from the leaves that have been falling. I took the Bare Tree Silhouette stamp and water colored the picture with fall colors in two different cards.

My inspiration!

Stamps from Blank Page Muse:

Other supplies:
Watercolor paints
Smooth watercolor paper
VersaFine Black Ink
Clear embossing powder
Wide tip gold Sharpie
Gems
Cosmic Shimmer Gilding flakes

Stamp the images on smooth watercolor paper with VersFine black ink, heat emboss with clear embossing powder.

I love watercolors, as you can see one set is not enough!  Paint the ground in greens and browns, let dry. Then paint the sky a faint blue, let dry.

Using a mixture of reds, oranges. yellows and browns for leaves.  Do not try and paint individual leaves, add blobs of color and you will get the effect of leaves. Let each color dry before adding the next, or the colors will blend, and you will have a muddy mess.

When the watercolors are dry, along the bottom of the card place double sided adhesive as pictured.  Cover with Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes. Edge card with wide tip gold Sharpie pen. Stamp THANK YOU with black ink on the car. Add a few gems to the card. Mount the finished panel on black cardstock and adhere to the card.

The owl has leaves flying around the tree giving the effect of a blustery day. When the watercolors are dry. Edge card with wide tip gold Sharpie pen. Stamp THANK YOU with black ink on white cardstock and mount on black cardstock. Add a few gems to the card. Mount the finished panel on black cardstock and adhere to the card.

ENJOY THE FALL SEASON!

No Place Like Gnome in the Fall

Hey there, friends!

It’s design team member Walter on the Blank Page Muse blog today.  Autumn in my favorite time of the year here in New England (where I live.)  There is nothing like the sights, smells, and weather during this time.  I just love it - and today’s creation that I’m sharing celebrates it.

I used the following BPM products to create it:

Our gnome friend, Mr. Elderwillow, sparkles thanks to the glitter and metallic gel pens used to color him.

And the pumpkins look amazing thanks to the wonderful design of the stencils.

Both Mr. Elderwillow and the pumpkins blend in so well with the paper printed from the digital printable kit.

You may read more about my creative process on my blog.

Thank you for spending some time on the blog with me today.  See you again soon!
