My installation of Ubuntu in WSL fails to render Unicode text. Below is a screenshot from Sanskrit Wikipedia.

How should I fix it?

What browser do you use here? (In Microsoft Edge, and in Chrome, I do not see a problem. Also from what OS are your starting this browser, (just to make the question on-topic... 😉)

You seem to miss a font which is capable of rendering Sanskrit. Try to install the fonts-noto-core package. Commented Oct 8, 2023 at 12:32
  • @GunnarHjalmarsson: I do not have that installed, and fonts show correctly ... (so, no need in trying)

@Luuk: Then you have some other font with that capability, e.g. fonts-lohit-deva. "No need in trying" ... How is that helpful for an obvious font issue?? Commented Oct 8, 2023 at 15:44
