HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Thankful Thursday

This week, I just want to note how thankful I am for my fabulous husband. I so appreciate all that he does for our family, for our boys, and for me...and feel incredibly blessed to have this friend and partner at my side, having known each other more than 31 years.

Since we don't have any big trips planned this year, we decided to take a couple's weekend and had decided on last weekend for it...before the busyness of May with graduation and house guests and all. Our original plans fell through (due to weather) but we shifted and still got away to Estes Park for a night. It wasn't a whole weekend away someplace new, but we truly enjoyed ourselves...

We stopped at The Dam Store (someplace we've driven past multiple times but never stopped at) and climbed the "tower"...we enjoyed delicious foods at our favorite food places and some new ones...we shopped up and down the main strip...we rode the Mountain Coaster a few times...we appreciated the sunset at Lily Lake...and we thoroughly loved our AirBNB, complete with hot tub. The next day, we checked out and headed down the mountain and stopped at Scheel's to ride the ferris wheel before getting some lunch and reluctantly heading home. We had some downtime then before I went to my first day of work actually working with the kids. That's for a future post. :)

So. Happy sigh. Love you, Nathan!!
