I HAVE A TA-DA......

I have a ta-da today.  I started a Giant Granny Square Afghan a couple of years ago.  I was using all my left over yarn, you know the ones, the little balls of yarn that accumulate after working on a project.  There's not enough to do anything with.......so my Granny Square kept growing.  This is what it looked like the last time I worked on it.

This is the finished Afghan......
I've also neglected to post my TAST (Take A Stitch Tuesday) stitches.  You can see all the stitches at Sharon's place Pintangle.  Sharon has a Stitch Dictionary full of stitches.  With definitions and illustrations of how to do the stitch.  Just click on the link and you will go straight to the Stitch Dictionary.

Week 12 - Sheaf Stitch

You often see Sheaf Stitch used as a light, filling stitch with single stitches spaced evenly over an area, but it is often underestimated, as it is far more interesting than just an area filler.

Week 13 - Buttonhole Wheel Stitch

These are often used to form small floral sprays making them useful stitches for crazy quilting and surface embroidery, but you can also use them in a contemporary manner too.

Week 14 - Arrowhead Stitch

It is very versatile and you can use it for stylish projects on the one hand, and children’s stitching projects on the other.

Week 15 - Rice Stitch

Rice stitch is also known as Crossed Corners and William and Mary stitch. This is thought of as a canvas stitch.

I've also got my TUSAL (Totally Useless Stitch A Long).  Do you keep all those snips of treads and yarn?  If so, you should join Sharon for the TUSAL.  She posts every New Moon.

WHAT I'VE BEEN WORKING ON.......

I've been stuck in a rut and NETFLIX is the cause.  It's awesome watching t.v. shows with no commercials!  But it's also very addictive.  So one night I was bored with doing nothing while watching NCIS.  Pulled out some yarn and started making Granny Squares.
My Lap Afghan......to keep my legs and feet warm while watching t.v.

I've also been working on my button project.
A few more buttons and stitches have been added.  Since I'm using my mom's buttons, which I inherited, I've put MOM at the top of the piece.

It's also the New Moon, well that was actually on the 17th, so I'm late getting my TUSAL(Totally Useless Stitch A Long) posted.  What is this you might ask, you save all the snips of threads and yarns for a month and then show them off.  Pretty cool isn't it.  This is my March TUSAL.....

STITCHING........

I've been working on my Crazy Quilt.  I've gotten 4 rows together.  Laid it out on the floor and I think it needs one more row.
I've also started the Flower Blanket CAL I'm doing.  It's over at Shar's place, Country Fragrance.  Hop over and check it out.

Last week Heather, at Books and Quilts  asked if anyone makes test blocks.  Well, I made one for the Flower Blanket.  I thought the variegated yarn would look nice as flower petals.  So I made one, and didn't like it at all.  I had a picture of this block, but I've lost it somewhere on my computer and I can't find it.  I NEED A COMPUTER TECH!!!!  Anyway, I've gotten 2 blocks done.

BLOG HOPPING & CROCHETING.......

I was blog hopping last week and found a CAL(Crochet Along) that I want to do.  I'm a really a slow crocheter, so who knows when it will be done.  This is the list of blogs I hopped and their links.....

Heather over at Books and Quilts, she hosts Needlework Tuesday.  From there I hopped over to Lin's place St Victor Quilts, that's where I saw the CAL, Lin is working on this.  Then I went to Sharmayne's, over at Country Fragrance, she is hosting the CAL. Sharmayne started this blanket for her granddaughter and asked if anyone else might like to join in.  She has the pattern that you can copy and paste, then print.  So if you want to join in, hop over to Sharmane's place and check it out.

I've got a lot of little balls of yarn to work on this, but haven't yet figured out the rest of the color scheme.  This is just part of my stash of yarn.
I'll be posting about my progress a long the way.  I might get this done someday.............

IT'S BEEN AWHILE.....

since I posted anything but books.  So I thought I'd get back into the swing of things.  I'm joining Heather over at Books and Quilts for Needlework Tuesday.  Want to join in?  Just click on the link and you'll be there.  What is Needlework Tuesday?

Needlework Tuesday is a regular weekly post where I share the progress of my various needlework projects over the past week. I enjoy the encouragement that I receive from my readers and in return visit their blogs and cheer them on with theirs.

I've been working on my Redwork blocks.  There are 8 blocks.  When done I'll be making a quilt out of them.  I've also got 8 more blocks I'm going to do in blue.
This is blocks 5, 6, 7, & 8.   As you can see block 7 is almost done.

I've also finished my At The Beach Afghan.
I've also embroidered a little chicken.  Don't know what I'm going to do with it yet, but I have some ideas rattling around in my head.  I'll update when I get it figured out.
Don't forget to hop over to Heather's place to check out Needlework Tuesday.

QUILTS AND AFGHANS......

Ginny over at Small Things hosts Yarn Along.  Don't know what this is?  Here's some info from Ginny.

Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading and I love sharing my projects and current reads here. I would love for you to join me every Wednesday to share a single photo of what you are knitting (or crocheting) and reading too!

Since it turned chilly this week I got my At The Beach Afghan and worked on it.  It's coming along pretty nicely.
As for what I'm reading, It Happened One Autumn by Lisa Kleypas.  It's a Historical Romance, I love reading this kind of book.  I've been reading a lot of suspense mystery's and wanted a break from those, so I picked this one up at the library.   I also love the cover of this book.  I've linked it to the page at Amazon.com if you want to check it out.
Sharon over at Pintangle is the host for Take A Stitch Tuesday.  She gives you instructions on how to do a multitude of Embroidery Stitches.

The stitch this week is Wheateater Stitch.  A little info on this block.  The flower came off one of Bella's pony tail bands and I kept it, thinking I could use it for something or other.  So I put it on my block and added a bead to the center.  Then I couched down some yarn to make some grasses and added some Wheateater Stitches.  I'll be putting a few more of those stitches in this area.

UPDATE ON NEELEWORK......

You may have noticed I've been doing a lot of reading.  But I've also been crocheting and quilting.  So thought I'd give you an update.  I was over at Heather's place, Books and Quilts, she was working on a Giant Granny Square Afghan.  She inspired me to start my own.  I'm using all those little balls of yarn that can't be used in a project.  So it will be a scrappy Afghan.  It's not very big right now, but it will grow as I add more yarn to it.
The At The Beach Afghan is coming along.  I've finished the first section and am ready to start it over again.
I've also been working on Toby's quilt.  He decided to to see if he liked it and layed down on the quilt to test it out.
I'm linking up with Heather for Needlework Tuesday.  She has a beautiful bag she made, go check it out.

NEEDLEWORK TUESDAY.....

Heather over at Books and Quilts is the host for Needlework Tuesday.  Hop over and check out the rug Heather is crocheting.
As for what I've been working on, crocheting and quilting.  My At The Beach Afghan is coming along.  This is the inspiration for the pattern....
See the bag is the upper left hand corner?  That's the color scheme I'm using.  The small bands have 2 rows and the large bands have 5 rows.  This is the updated picture...
The quilt I'm working on is for my son.  It's a Dachshund Quilt.  I've got the first 2 rows done.  The blocks are 9 inch.  The fabric I'm putting dogs on is Bleached Muslin.
What projects are you working on?

NEW AFGHAN......

Since I finished my Ugly Afghan, I decided to start another one.  I was sitting in my living room and trying to decide what colors to use for this one.  I happened to be looking at one of my carry all bags I use.  I use it for lots of stuff, but mostly for toting books around.  It's really a insulated bag for putting cold stuff in.  Anyway, the colors of the bag is my inspiration for this Afghan.

The colors I'm using are Red Heart Super Saver yarn.  The colors are.......

1. White
2. Bright Yellow
3. Light Raspberry
4.Pumpkin
5. Turqoise

The small bands have 2 rows of color and the bigger bands of color have 5 rows of color.  I'm following the pattern of the bag starting at the bottom and working my way up to the top.  When I get to the top color, I'll reverse the order and work backwards.  The colors remind me of the beach, so that's what this Afghan is going to be called....At The Beach Afghan.  I am linking this post up to Heather's Needlework Tuesday.  Hop over and check out Heather's "stuff".  I'm also linking up with Trish over at Love, Laughter and a Touch of Insanity for Inspiration Monday.  Head over and check out all the inspiration!

And yes I know it's Wednesday.  I was at the hospital ER yesterday with hubby.  He hasn't been feeling
himself the last few days.  He has been running a low grade fever and having some pain in his lower tummy.  So his home health nurse suggested we call his doctor.  The doctor said we needed to go to the ER.  So that's where we spent our day.  After all the tests they run, they found he had another abscess in his lower tummy.  They sent him back to Indianapolis to Community North Hospital.  So my son and I will be making the trip down to Indianapolis today to see him and find out what's going on.

I finally finished my Ugly Afghan.  But it turned prettier than I thought.  What do you think,  ugly or pretty??  Be honest!
I also finally got the Dog/Cat Quilts done for my brother and his wife.  Now all I have to do is deliver them to him.
