Scrapaneers - November Challenge

Hello Everyone,

Scrapaneers monthly challenge is up and running for the month of November. This month the challenge is to use black and white and to include 3 different patterned papers along with a splash of colour.

This is my take:

Scrapaneers - July Challenge

Hello Everyone,

Over at Scrapaneers, there is a challenge to post a layout that:

  • uses the colours of your country's flag
  • has patterned paper somewhere on the layout
  • includes a title, and
  • has at least 2 photos on the layout.
I decided to go for Australia's Olympic flag colours of green and gold as the Olympics are just around the corner and I am seeing green and gold everywhere in the lead up to this magnificent event.
So here is my take on the challenge:

That's My Boy

Template: Champions Layered Template from July 2015 Typetastic. I used template #4.
Just Jaimee | mainly from All About Him, but also a few elements from various StoryTeller kits.
The Nifty Pixel | Gesso Goodness V.1

I wouldn't have normally used these colours, but I really like this combination. That is what I love about challenges - doing something you usually wouldn't. It was super fun to create.

Thank you for joining me today. :)

Scrapaneers - Champions June and July

Hello Everyone,

Today I would like to share some layouts I created using tips and techniques from the monthly subscription for digital scrappers over at Scrapaneers called, 'Champions'. If you are interested in learning digi scrapping or want to improve your skill base, it is a fantastic place to take classes. There is something for everyone. Check it out here: http://scrapaneers.com/workshops-2/

For July, we are learning about changing papers and embellishments in the kit to make them suit our needs as well as how to add more interest by adding more detail to embellishments.

My layout for this month may not look as if I have used many techniques, but I have changed the papers by adjusting the colours and made a new paper with a stripe paper, created tags and added my own glitter, amongst other tehniques:

Just Try It
The Nifty Pixel | Just A Little Different
Traci Reed | Prove Them Wrong
Scrapaeers | Luggage Tags

For June, it was about creating our own borders and clusters. I used photos from 2015 and 2013. How children grow so much in a year constantly astounds me. :)

Scrapaneers - Champions & Live

Hello Everyone,

Each month, Scrapaneers teaches some new tips and techniques in their Champions classes. For April, it is all about Infographics.  Using the template supplied, I created this layout, which has a more scrappy look than a true infographic:

Strike a [Cute] Pose
Template | Scrapaneers April 16 Champions Layered Template
Anita Designs | Love Life Digital Kit

For their monthly challenge, I created another layout, another one which is more of a scrap-o-graphic than an info-graphic.

Template | Scrapaneers April 16 Champions  Layered Template
Just Jaimee | All About Him Digital Kit
Number Font: Fyra

Scrapaneers also recently held a LIVE event for digital scrapbookers to learn new techniques and projects through a number of different instructors.  Lucky for me, the classes were also recorded.
For my first class, I watched a recording of the lesson offered by Anna Aspnes entitled, '10 Artsy Hacks'.  It was a fabulous class. This is my layout from it, the photos of which are from when I was living in France in 2007 & 2008:

Scrapaneers - February Champions

Hello Everyone,

This month over at Scrapaneers - Champions, it's all about 'romance'.  The kit (supplied as part of the course) is soft and beautiful, and the techniques are all about beautifying the photograph and aging it to get an old romantic feel, new techniques for me.

So here are my layouts for this month:
44
Credits:
Brandy Murry | Romantique Collection
The Nifty Pixel | Dreams Come True Alpha Pack

The above layout is of myself - shock, horror! Yes, I know. I rarely have photos taken of myself, and even more rarely scrap myself, but I'm moving out of my comfort zone, as vulnerable as I feel in doing so. :) The photo was taken by my youngest daughter.

The next layout is of my youngest daughter.
Beautiful YOU

Scrapaneers has many fantastic classes to learn new techniques, whether you are new to digi scrapping or seasoned in digi-land. Champions is a monthly subscription in which you receive a kit, templates and videos teaching teachniques, and of course, a very supportive forum. For more information, head over to HERE.

Scrapaneers - January Champions

Hello Everyone,

Every month, Scrapaneers releases some new techniques and videos to learn from as part of their Champions subscription. This month, it's all about QUIRKS, the little things you do when you make a layout; that you can't seem to help doing; that doesn't feel right if you don't do it. I'm sure you know what I mean.

Anyhow, this is my layout followed by an explanation of my quirks:

Dancing

January Champions Kit: Creashens | Beats
Studio Rosey Posey | Needful Masks
Just Jaimee | Glitter Styles
The Nifty Pixel | Present & Correct Elements (staple; scatters; splatters (black))
Font: Pea Andrea

I just love this series of photos of my youngest daughter.  She was being her natural, cheeky, beautiful self.  The centre photo of my daughter is my favourite, so I wanted to showcase this one larger amongst the others.

Something I find I do more and more of late, is the use of a mask on the background and clipping paper to it, as I have done here.  After the background paper, I added a mask, then clipped the natural looking paper from the kit before clipping more paper to the background shapes that are part of the template.  I always find this gives more visual interest.  On top of this, I always have to add some paint.  Splatters are a preference, but any paint will do, the splatters in this kit are just gorgeous!  And I always like a few scatters thrown in.  The aqua glitter circle scatters on my layout started off as green, but I like to try and add some glitter style to my page whenever I can.  After all, we can all do with a little added sparkle in our lives.

Thank you for spending a little time out of your day here.

Scrapaneers - Champions Challenge

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all enjoying this festive season.

Every month over at Scrapaneers, there is a challenge based on a theme. This month revolves around, 'The Reflective Spirit'. Some new techniques I learnt at Scrapaneers 'Champions', includes double exposure and reflective text. I was playing around and this is what I came up with:

This layout was super fun to create. This photo is of my children fooling around with some glasses and blow-up microphones they received from a party bag, and I just love it. It was a lucky snap.

To start with, I 'Googled', 'rockstars on stage' and found the image of a black silhouette crowd against the gorgeous blues/greens of lights. Perfect. I then blended my photo into it, and made the rest of the layout black. I added another photo, but as is, it was too white against the rest of the layout, so added a photo filter to soften the white and give a bluey/green tint. The scatter/frame is from Flergs - Urban Grunge which I re-coloured and then used Flergs - Wild Boyz glitter alpha and star element for the title to which I added a reflection (love this technique). Lastly, I added some extra sparkle from Rosey Posey - Needful Things.

Thank you for popping in. Hope you are enjoying a wonderful day.

Scrapaneers - Digital Art Dolls

The other day I posted my first Art Doll I made digitally through the class:

over at Scrapaneers.

I made another Art Doll using different techniques, taking much less time and resulting in a different look. I then added it to an art journal page:

Credits:
Captivated Visions | Now The Story Ends Digital Kit
Captivated Visions | To The Moon & Back (gemstones - colour adjusted)
Kaye Fredrick | Splatterifics 14 (orange button splatter)
The Nifty Pixel | Cosmo Blooms (little flowers - colour adjusted)
Cryztal Rain - Brushed Wings

I also used an eyelash brush from Mallagueta that I downloaded free from Google as well as a free lip brush which I think was from Obsidian Dawn. I struggle with the hair and think it would be easier with a Wacom tablet and pen (hint, hint Father Christmas for next year), but I have to work with what I have, and I think it's still ok for a beginner.

Thank you for coming past. I hope this festive season allows an opportunity for you all to relax, spend time with your loved ones, and time to be creative.

Scrapaneers - December Champions Challenge

Scrapaneers has just released the December 'Champions' kit and tutorials as well as their challenge for the month. If you are thinking about delving into digital scrapping, or want to extend your skills head over to Scrapaneers to learn more. The classes are amazing!

This month, it's all about the 'Reflective Spirit', sparkles and glows. Here are some layouts incorporating some glows, bokeh and reflective journaling:

Hard to believe the photos above in the last layout, of my eldest daughter, were taken 5 years ago. Where did that time go? She turns 10 on the 19th of this month and going into Year 5 at school next year. I am struggling with the time concept and the fact that she is no longer a baby girl. Have to give her a few extra cuddles - perhaps that will stop time passing for a moment. :)

Wishing you all a safe, bright and festive season.

Scrapaneers - November Champions Challenge

Hello all,

Each month, Scrapaneers sets a challenge for the Champions release, based on the learning of the month's tutorials. This month, the theme is Out of Pocket. The requirements for the challenge are to use a pocket and add a cluster. I decided to use one of the layered templates offered as part of November's Champions kit.

My layout:

Such a cool digital layered template. I love these creative plastic pockets.

Scrapaneers - The Art of Photographs: 1

Hello fellow scrappers,

At the moment, I am taking a class, The Art of Photographs by Amanda Taylor over at Scrapaneers:

I have just completed Module 1 which has been wonderfully inspiring and totally enjoyable.

There were a few concepts covered, but I have chosen to play with the idea of using word art as a photo mask, as so:
boy
Credits: Background paper: The Nifty Pixel (Passion Play - Solid Papers); Elements: Flergs (Wildboyz - recoloured).

I decided to use the simple word, 'boy' and surround it with descriptive words of my son, or things that he likes. He didn't want the word, 'procrastinator' on there, but it is him at the moment (am hoping it is a phase!).

If you ever consider trying your hand at digital scrapping, or want to improve your skills, be sure to head over to Scrapaneers where there are plenty of classes to choose from.

Hope you all enjoy a productive weekend.:)

Scrapaneers - October Champions

Hello Everyone,

The latest Champions has just been released over at Scrapaneers. By the way, have you seen their new look website? I love it, it's so easy to use, and it's clear, bold and truly reflects their professionalism.
Anyway, October Champions is all about the Fear Factor. Doing something that gets you out of your comfort zone. It's a little scary to make that jump and leap off the edge, but at the same time, it is really thrilling to do so. The world widens and new possibilities emerge.

My layouts this month encapsulates techniques that I had never tried before. I had no idea what I was doing, but the more I played, the more I was enjoying myself and the fear started dissipating.

My first layout:
Everyday Magic
Credits:
Valorie Wibbens | Autumns Magic
Amanda Yi | You Are Fabulous
Additional Brushes | Just Jaimee, Dawn Inskip

I really love this photo of my eldest daughter so wanted to showcase a large version. The new techniques I used related to the layering of papers and using different modes to create different effects. More details are in the Champions Companion Book (for which you need to be a member of Champions to access).

My second layout is of my son. He LOVES anything and everything to do with Star Wars, so it was inspired by this passion of his.

May the force be with you
Credits:
Images taken from the web
Amanda Yi | You Are Fabulous
Valorie Wibbens | Autumns Magic
Lori Davison | Watch Out For The Moon

It feels very strange to not add any embellishments to the page. I tried - for hours! (Well, so it seemed.) But nothing worked, so this alone is out of my comfort zone. Also, my son wasn't holding a light-saber when I took the photo, I found one on the web and added it. I love that about digital scrapping. :)

For more information about Champions and other digital classes, please head over to Scrapaneers.

Thank you for coming by.
I appreciate your comments. :)

Scrapaneers - Guide to Brushwork

Hello all,

Lately, I've been taking a class over at Scrapaneers to improve my digital techniques. I love using brushes, so thought I'd learn more about them by doing this course:

click HERE to be taken to Scrapaneers to learn more about it.

Some of the brushes I have made include using a Kaiser stamp, some Spellbinders leaf die-cuts and other paper cuts from my Silhouette, a watercolour puddle and various doodles I created:

And the layout I created using these brushes:

I have loved doing this course. It's opened up many possibilities. For more information about this or other classes, please visit Scrapaneers.
