Demon Fossils are a common of Treasure. They can be found inside Jar, Treasure Chests, or under piles of leaves. As with most treasure Link can also buy them from shops, or to win them with a Prize Postcard.
Link can sell Demon Fossils are for 50 Rupees each, or trade them with Linebeck III as part of the cost for the following Train Cars:

In Tri Force Heroes, Demon Fossils are bronze-rarity Materials awarded for completing the following Levels and Drablands Challenges of the Volcano:
- Blazing Trail, "Pop all balloons!": one Demon Fossil

- Hinox Mine, no challenge: one Demon Fossil
