WikiProject MediaWiki

The aim of of the WikiProject MediaWiki is to describe the MediaWiki (Q83) software in Wikidata. Wikidata includes many items which describe the MediaWiki software, as Help: pages, or as classes needed to build property relations with the Wikimedia projects with useful constraints.

We hope describing the MediaWiki software will provide an example of how to model other software in Wikidata, and it is software that we are all familiar with. New properties to map relationships between software components will need to be established. WikiProject Video games has done some of this work already.

Some of the tasks are:

• map Wikidata items to MediaWiki software components (e.g. MediaWiki page (Q15474042)
• link Help: and Wikipedia: pages to Wikidata items that describe MediaWiki software components (e.g. Wikimedia portal (Q4663903) and Help:Portals (Q8615738))
• map and import translations from MediaWiki source code or Translatewiki into Wikidata (e.g. User:John Vandenberg/MediaWiki interface)
