I am an active Wikidata user, and often come across cases where page protection, deletion, or user blocking would be appropriate; I would like to be able to assist directly, without having to bother others every time. Having said that, I confess that I lean "inclusionist" and would rather research and improve a bare item than delete it out of hand. I also try hard to head off blocks by working with users to help them to make a positive contribution. Although I am now more active on Wikidata, I have been an administrator on the English Wikipedia since 2005. Professionally, I use Wikidata as an information source, and am strongly motivated to see it grow as an accurate and useful resource. --Bovlb (talk) 22:03, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]- Support; the candidate is apparently not yet overly involved in meta stuff at Wikidata, but what I see is okay and he is clearly familiar with the admin role. I am confident that Wikidata adminship for Bovlb would work out as well. —MisterSynergy (talk) 00:18, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- Tend to Support; inclusionist and mediating are both okay things to be. Mahir256 (talk) 02:26, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

- Support - Seems to have a use for the permissions, thanks for helping out. -- Ajraddatz (talk) 20:56, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose maybe later: has created hardly any items
--- Jura 17:05, 5 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]- @Jura1: Would you like to request de-sysopping @Jasper Deng: on precisely this basis? I'm not sure that we should levy an item creation requirement as a requirement for adminship. Mahir256 (talk) 14:52, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- I think one should have some experience with contributing to this project. This includes several aspects. Creating new items is a fairly basic one. We do have plenty of admins that I couldn't really tell from memory what they do or ever did. The result is that a few, like you, end up doing most of admin work. I don't really know what the one you mention does or did. Bovlb does write excellent queries btw.
--- Jura 15:00, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]- What an odd metric. Why should creating items be more important than other parts of the project? I'm not sure that I've ever created an item, but that certainly doesn't impact my ability to use the sysop tools. -- Ajraddatz (talk) 15:36, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- Support I have worked with the user professionally and can attest to his strong commitment to making Wikidata a better resource. Mpetrenk (talk) 18:01, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
