Motivation
[edit]This property proposal is related to the property proposal for "has phenotype". We would like to enrich Wikidata with genotype-phenotype data from MGI. The gene phenotype association is observed in a given genotype which we would like to capture as a reference using the "observed in" property proposal here. - The proposal mentions that it would also be used for qualifiers. In what situations would it be used like that? --Yair rand (talk) 21:48, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Yair rand: The examples presented are all uses as qualifiers of statements for the proposed "has phenotype" property. ArthurPSmith (talk) 18:08, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- @ArthurPSmith: Oh, I thought those were supposed to be references. Where would this property be used as a reference, then? --Yair rand (talk) 19:20, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Yair rand: I want to use the property in references. The examples given should be read as being a reference. The reason I suggested using the property in both qualifiers and references it to leave room for extended usage of the property, but if we really need to be strict, let it be bound to references. --Andrawaag (talk) 20:52, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- I was also originally thinking that this would be for references, but thinking about this more I can also see the case for allowing this property to be used for qualifiers. So I agree with Andrawaag's suggestion -- I support allowing it on either, but binding it to references only if people feel it necessary... Andrew Su (talk) 00:38, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
