Description | generic property for any identifier, alphanumeric or otherwise |
---|---|
Represents | identifier (Q853614) |
Data type | String |
Example 1 | (as qualifier on tracklist (P658) statement) [identifier] → "B-6" |
Example 2 | (as qualifier on part of (P361) → side platform (Q2735706) statement) [identifier] → "4a" |
Example 3 | MISSING |
Motivation
[edit]Same as key:ref in OpenStreetMap (Q936). Generic identifier property where one does not exist; if used as qualifier it would be the only logical or possible identifier in that situation, such as a track number in a track listing (in many cases series ordinal (P1545) doesn't work because not all the identifiers are integers, or the integer has to be combined with something else). This would be like how station code (P296) is used as a generic identifier and then migrated to more specific properties when desired. Jc86035 (talk) 13:41, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Oppose Redundant to catalog code (P528). Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:56, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Pigsonthewing: I looked at it and thought it was too specific; and the new property would be used in qualifiers, whereas catalog code (P528) can only be used in a statement due to requiring a qualifier. In the cases above, the item itself (as the subject or the object) is the closest thing to a catalogue. Jc86035 (talk) 10:19, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
- I somehow didn't realize series ordinal (P1545) had datatype string, so I guess this request is moot. Jc86035 (talk) 15:42, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
