Motivation
[edit]This database is a valuable source of information on popular literature not just in Britain in the mid-nineteenth century, but also in France and in the United States since French romans-feuilletons were translated in penny weekly numbers in London while American fiction was reprinted. The database links periodicals to their Waterloo Directory of English Newspapers and Periodicals: 1800-1900 identifier, Dictionary of Nineteenth-Century Journalism (Q86370176) identifier in ProQuest's Nineteenth Century Index, and identifiers in commercial digitization projects.
There are also external identifiers for authors, works, publishers, and libraries which hold copies of these rare books. Separate property proposals are being made for these other identifiers since the formatter URL is different. Marianika (talk) 15:27, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]Support useful and interesting.Oppose given the small number of entries --Hannes Röst (talk) 13:25, 31 May 2021 (UTC)- Support, an important property for literature.--Arbnos (talk) 14:20, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose Sorry, but 25 iDs is far too few. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 14:52, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
Comment This seems to have been poorly communicated by the proposer, because a closer look at the source suggests several hundred IDs at the location http://www.priceonepenny.info/database/show_title.php?work_id=$1. Might be worth changing this to Price One Penny Work ID? Theknightwho (talk) 22:27, 18 November 2021 (UTC)I missed that this had already been done! Theknightwho (talk) 22:29, 18 November 2021 (UTC)- Marking as Not done since there are so few entries. I would suggest using described at URL (P973) instead. - Nikki (talk) 05:34, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
