Value type “ploidy (Q118406): This property should use items as value that contain property “subclass of (P279)”. On these, the value for subclass of (P279) should be an item that uses subclass of (P279) with value ploidy (Q118406) (or a subclass thereof). (Help)
Exceptions are possible as rare values may exist. Exceptions can be specified using exception to constraint (P2303).

Complex ploidy patterns

Organ-specific patterns of endopolyploidy (from 2x to 64x) in Dinoponera australis (Q3386183)

The current suggested values for the property are too simple for some taxa. How should we go about modeling cases like the one shown in the image? --Daniel Mietchen (talk) 08:45, 6 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Daniel Mietchen: Granularity where granularity is needed (and we can find contributors), is probably the only workable approach. As usual I prefer specialized items over specialized properties. So an item for "Head of Dinoponera australis" seems like a something we need. What are your thoughts on these kind of issues lately? --Tobias1984 (talk) 18:52, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Allowable values for this property

[edit]

As designed, this property should only allow values that are a sub-class of ploidy (Q118406). However all the value listed above are actually sub-class of this: polyploidy (Q213410). I'm not sure whether the items are incorrect in using the wrong item to be sub-class of or the property is incorrect and it should be requiring polyploidy (Q213410) to be used as sub-class. Either way, any item that uses this property currently shows a value type constraint. JerryL2017 (talk) 08:54, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
