Ah yes. I remember it well.
How well-known do you think Bernier is?
Take my outsider perspective with a grain of salt, but I think Poilivre went viral so many times that "anti-establishment" Canadians think he's their guy.
Youtuber CGP Grey has an (I think) insightful video about taking over a country. His argument is that any "new" leader has to toe a fine line between appealing to the people wanting change and the ancien regime wanting to maintain their hold. I 100% see that with that callout you made on PP being a Trudeau 2.0 despite the viral parliament debates between the two.
I think the establishment ran out of branding on Trudeau, and are passing the torch on to Poilivre.
If Bernier is a true "voice of the people", I think Canadian parliament (and foreign actors) is united on shutting him out.
What say you?
Bernier isn't well known, the media doesn't advertise any political opposition to the current paradigm, it's why you know the Conservative party will go along with the Liberal party's vision for Canada.
I agree with you, Bernier can't win, there is no political choice in Canada, the media is government owned, the establishment knows Canadians don't look beyond the surface when paying attention to politics.
Most don't even look at the platform any politician runs on in Canada, only paying attention to aesthetics, and posturing.
Most don't even remember that Trudeau was elected to change our first past the post system, they seem to only remember weed, and that they like his face, that's it.
Canada stopped having free and fair elections decades ago, only cemented further when Trudeau bought the independent media for the government in 2017.
Then there's no political, main channel solution, yes?
I've suspected for some time that Canada, Europe, and maybe some other places were just coping by claiming their political systems are more representative for having more than just two political parties.
What if America is just more honest? What if every government is shoehorning the voters into Giant Douche vs. Turd Sandwich, and America stopped bothering to hide it? At least North Korea, China, Russia (et. al.) have the predetermined winner on the ballot and nobody else. That's even more honest.
The house always wins in Vegas, the capital always wins in an election. I don't mean to sound like a doomer. I just think the government always favors the people who already control it.
American revolutionaries didn't change George III or parliament. They abandoned both.
They are, and America is more honest, look at Germany, or France, when a party comes close to winning that the establishment doesn't want, they form coalitions and try to ban them from running.
In most countries, well;
Also, just want to add this, because most Americans don't seem to realize this when they read their own history.
The American Revolution didn't occur over taxation, it occurred over taxation without representation, if the crown had acquiesced to the colonial demands and granted them representation in Imperial affairs, there would've been no revolutionary movement.
It's why Canada didn't rebel, we had our worries and concerns acknowledged and represented, well, the French colonials didn't, but fuck the French, so.
If memory serves, it was more about sufficient representation.
The colonies were offered one (1) parliament seat representing them. The colonies rejected that for fear of one sheep voting against a pride of lions over what's for dinner.
That exact scenario happened to the Welsh in 1965. The welsh had several seats in parliament, and every single one voted against evicting Capel Celyn to flood the whole town (its property, churches, cemeteries, everything) and turning the valley into a water reservoir for the English.
Parliament heard the Welsh protest, said "fuck you, we're the government", and did what they wanted to do anyway. That was the end of that. Parliament promised to compensate the townsfolk for the loss of property (they didn't), and exhume the dead for a proper burial elsewhere (they didn't).
If you haven't been lurking, then, cards on the table, I've been leaning toward the anarchist corners of Tumblr. I believe every citizen of every government is waiting for that same shoe to drop. Government is human beings controlling other human beings. Whenever that gets unfair, the human being backed by the force of government says "tough titties", and does whatever they want.
"Government by the consent of the governed" really does appear to be a myth. Am I missing something?

I've been putting this question off for a good while:
Do I even wanna know how you came up with your url name?
I've answered this a few times before. It's an inside joke with my longtime girlfriend. We used to play this game where we would come up with all of these creative names for vaginas. We'd be driving around dt Toronto and just yelling, "TUNA CANOE, SALMON SLIT, MEAT WAFFLE," etc. One day, we came up with pisswallet. It was my favorite one, and we died laughing over it, and I put it as my url on tumblr like over 15 years ago. That's the story.
My fear was unfounded. That's hilarious.
He took a risk but at least the bird is free...
