Anonymous asked:

hey... did you use ai for the last photo at the top in your most recent video?

I do not ever intentionally use ai for any of my pictures, but I do get some of them from google images when I need a quick reference, which due to *gestures at the state of the internet* has led to some creeping in here and there (though I try to check for it where possible).

To be honest, if you’re talking about the meat arrow picture, that one is bad image overlaying rather than ai. It was just meant to be a reference to a silly feature in TotK!

Out of curiosity, have you ever broken something you didn't expect to while making your videos?

Avatar

Absolutely! Things I’ve broken or damaged unexpectedly while making videos include:

- archery targets (eventually they just sort of fall apart)

- 2 tripods (both impaled by arrows)

- several microphones (usually by dropping them)

- several bowstrings

- 2 bows (delamination through wear and tear)

- a whole bunch of arrows

- my left thumb

- my right heel

- my right shoulder

- a watermelon (I split one in two by punching it that wa fully not expecting, which led to a short series of videos where I went through a LOT of watermelons)

- several screen protectors (again, mostly dropping)

And, on one memorable instance:

- a whole-ass phone

This will hugely vary from bow to bow (and historical bows have more drop than modern ones) but your +14 Bow of Slicing Through 3 Enemies With One Arrow is probably going to fairly comfortably shoot past 50m!

Also, I really love the shot at 30m where my arrow left a silhouette of droplets! It was very fun 😁

Hey y’all!

Do you like archery? Do you want to learn more of it? And do you enjoy the kind of fast, fantasy-style archery that I do in my videos?

I have an archery tutorial space! It has video tutorials on everything from equipment basics and how to use a bow, through different historical and fantasy shooting styles, to fantasy tricks like multi-arrow shots.

And memberships are currently 50% off! (If you sign up at this price, your membership cost will not increase unless you choose to subscribe at a higher membership in the future, so it’s worth considering if you think you’d be interested)

A lot of people, especially adults, are put off trying things out of fear of failing. Learning to accept and even enjoy being bad at things can often be the first step in a new passion.

For what it’s worth, I wasn’t one of those people who picked up a bow and was a natural from the start. I had overly mobile elbows, and my dominant eye and hand don’t match up. But that lack of expectation meant that I was able to do it the way I enjoyed it, without worrying about scores or results. And over time, enjoyment turned into passion, and I like to think I’ve developed some amount of skill.

But even if I was terrible at it, I’d still be doing this, because I love it!

Calling all artists, animators, and fans of fun and useful pose references! In 2 weeks time I will be taking part in @adorkastock & Friends' MASSIVE Group Poses for Artists Shoot.

We've got a bunch of models of different sizes and shapes, more props than you can shake a stick at (including bows, a pole and a POOL), and two full days of shooting to get as many reference photos as we possibly can. It's gonna be awesome, and there will be some PHENOMENAL references coming out of this.

If you'd like to pre-order Photo packs, you have until the 25th October. Get them here:

In the meantime, as a taster, here are some of the photos from last time I collaborated with @null-entity (who's also part of this project!) Enjoy!

(You can find the rest of these sets in my Patreon Shop)

@blumineck I know you're a professional and it seems like the photographer is as well, but these photos are making the Health & Safety Inspector part of my brain go crazy. How did you ensure the safety of your fellow model while appearing to point a drawn arrow at him? Is it clever use of perspective? A prop bow?

Great question! The arrow is not, in fact, on the string in that shot. The string sits next to the arrow, so if I were to accidentally release it, it would pass harmlessly by without propelling anything into anyone’s face. I wouldn’t do a shot like that if there were any chance of shooting the arrow!
