    Her full name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll.
    She was born on February 2nd, 1977 in
    Barranquilla, Colombia.

    She is the only daughter of William


    Mebarak, an American of Lebanese origin
    who emigrated to Colombia at the age of
    five, and Nidia del Carmen Ripoll Torrado,
    a Colombian and Catalan descent.

    Shakira’s IQ is 140. She knew the alphabet


    when she was only 18 months old and she
    started school at 4 years old.

    At the age of 8 she started learning how to play


    the guitar, then two years later at 10 years old
    she begun writing her own songs which led her to
    starting her professional career at the age of just
    13.
