choice. These factors are unique to each person and are influenced by

Personal Factors

1. Personal Interest

-Personal interests, passions and hobbies has an impact when it comes

to our career choices. When we pursue a career aligned with our

interests, we are more likely to enjoy and find our work fulfilling.

Ex. A person who loves art consider a career as an artist, graphic

designer, architect, or interior designer, etc.

2. Skills and Talents

-Unique skills and talents also play a crucial role in influencing our

career choices. Choosing a career that is aligned with out skills, or

allows us to develop our skills, we are more likely to excel in our chosen

field.

Ex. A person who's good in cloth designs, consider a career in fashion.

3. Values and Beliefs

-Personal values and beliefs can shape our career choices as they reflect our

core principles and what we find meaningful in our work. Aligning our career

choices with our values can lead to a greater sense of purpose and job

satisfaction.

Ex. A person who values environmental sustainability, considers a career in

environmental conservation, or sustainable agriculture.


Psychological Factors

-These factors are linked to an individual's thoughts, emotions, and

motivations.

-One such factor is self-efficacy, which refers to an individual's belief in

their ability to succeed in a particular career. High self-efficacy can lead

individuals to pursue challenging careers, while low self-efficacy may

result in them avoiding oppurtunities that seem daunting.


-Another factor is the need for achievement, which drives individuals to

set ambitious career goals and strive for success.

Additionaly, one's level of motivation and resilience are more likely to

overcome obstacles and pursue careers that require dedication and

hard work.
Social Factors

-Exert a significant influence on career choices. These factors encompass

the influence of family, peers, mentors, and cultural norms. Family plays a

crucial role in shaping an individual's career aspirations. Parent's

expectations, values, and experiences can heavily influence the career

choices of their children. Similarly, peers and mentors can provide guidance

and inspiration, exposinf individuals to different career options and helping

them make informed decisions.


Cultural norms and societal ecpectations also play a role in career

choices. Certain cultures may prioritize specific professions, leading

individuals to consider careers that align with societal norms and

expectations.
Environmental Factors

-Refer to external circumstances that can impact career choices. Economic

conditions, job market trends, and geographic locatipn are examples of

environmental factors. Economic conditions can influence the availability of

job opportunities and the financial stability of specific industries. Job market

trends, such as emerging technologies or changes in consumer behavior,

can create new career paths or render certain professions obsolete.


-Moreover, geographic location can influence career choices due to

differences in industry presence and opportunities available in specific

regions.
