ETHICL ISSUES OF MANAGEMENT

INFORMATION SYSTEM
Presented by TANMAY and CHANDAN
INTRODUCTION

In Management Information Systems (MIS), ethical

issues refer to concerns related to the responsible use of
technology, data, and information within an
organization. This can include privacy, security, data
accuracy, intellectual property rights, and fair access to
information, among others.
1.PRIVACY
The Web sites you visit track the
search engine queries you enter,
pages visited, Web content viewed,
ads clicked, videos watched, content
shared, and the products you
purchase, but it can also create new
opportunities for invading your
privacy, and enabling the reckless
use of that information in a variety of
decisions about you
2.SECURITY

Security Breaches:
Mishandling of sensitive
data can lead to security
breaches, resulting in
unauthorized access, data
theft, or manipulation,
which can harm individuals
or organizations
3.DATA ACCURACY AND
INTEGRITY

MIS relies on accurate and

reliable data. Ethical issues
arise when data is
manipulated or
misrepresented, leading to
incorrect decision-making
or misleading analyses.
4.DIGITAL DIVIDE

Access to technology and

information worsen the
existing social and
economic inequalities,
creating a digital divide
between those who have
access to resources and
those who do not.
5.EMPLOYMENT
DISPLACEMENT

Automation and
technological
advancements in MIS can
lead to job displacement,
raising ethical concerns
about the impact on
individuals' livelihoods and
communities.
6.INTELLECTUAL
PROPERTY RIGHTS

Ethical issues arise

concerning the ownership
and protection of
intellectual property rights,
such as software,
algorithms, and data,
especially in cases of
unauthorized use or
plagiarism.
7.BIAS AND
DISCRIMINATION

MIS systems can

inadvertently perpetuate
biases present in the data
or the algorithms used,
leading to discriminatory
outcomes in areas such as
hiring, lending, or law
enforcement.
EFFECTS OF ETHICAL ISSUES

Ethical issues in Management Information

Systems (MIS) can have various effects,
including damage to reputation, legal
consequences, loss of customer trust, and
decreased employee morale.

In the context of pointers in MIS, ethical concerns

might involve data privacy violations, unauthorized
access to sensitive information, or manipulation of
data for personal gain. Addressing these issues is
crucial to maintain integrity and trust in the MIS
infrastructure
