Team: Climate Risks’ Fighters

Mission: Boost engagement in Climate Risks
specific actions through youth’s education in a
digital environment
Statement of the challenge

• The Challenge: The education referring to climate risks in

Romanian schools is not at the level required to create a
clear understanding of how those risks affect our current
and future life.

• How does it affect them: Students are not prepared to

engage and act in preventive and corrective Climate Risks
actions.

2
The solution. Value proposition.

We propose a friendly Quiz Tool for the Students to be used during the “Green
week” period and not only. The Tool we propose is a software application to be
accessed equally on mobile and desktop/laptop. There will be a number of
questions to test the knowledge on climate changes and risks. In case of a wrong
answer, the Students would be able to find the related information to that topic.

The Test results are generated in real time and the top 10 winner list is published.
The data base would be stored in a specific location (Data Center or Cloud) and
protected with Cyber security tools.

The proposed Quiz Tool is not existing on the market, but various applications
referring to different climate change topics are already available. For example: xxx

In the preliminary stage we will test the application free of charge with limited
functionality. The final application will be developed further to an agreement with
Education Ministry in Romania to be included in the “Green Week” Student
Curricula.

The application can be developed using a specialized company in Romania or

Europe.

‫٭‬The “Green week” is one week scheduled in every trimester, in the Romanian
public medium and high school. During “Green Week” there are no formal classes.
So that, regional and national contests referring to Climate Risks are welcome.
3
Knowledge valorisation
The Project starting point is the Study xxxx that examines the effectiveness
of climate change education programs in European schools, focusing on
adolescents aged 12 to 18. The research evaluates various teaching
methods, including traditional lectures, interactive workshops, and digital
tools such as apps and online platforms. It highlights the importance of
using interactive and gamified approaches to engage students and
enhance their understanding of complex environmental issues. That is why
we have chosen to develop a web-based application to be accessed from
mobile phone and from laptop/computer as well.
Customers: 1.Users – Students (mainly), 2.Buyer /Payer– Ministry of
Education (Romania), 3.Influencers – Mid and High Schools’ Management
and Teachers, UEFISCDI and other national Research institutes and
Universities in Romania, Climate oriented NGOs in Romania, Environment,
Water and Forest Ministry in Romania, Teenagers’ Parents.
The proposed technology is already existing on the market and
consequently the product is feasible. There is a need for the proposed Tool
for the mid and high school curricula so that it is desirable. The potential
Romanian market: 1400 Students ( Gymnasium and High School), hence it
is financially justified.
The Project Plan focuses on a tested Application both in living lab and in
the market. The application developer will have proprietary rights on it.

4
Sustainable Business Model Canvas

We have developed the value proposition considering the following

Inputs:
The learning content of the application is thought to be developed
based on the planet living framework. Consequently, it will drive the
interest of the youth to the environmental problems, boost their
engagement and promote a behavioral change.
Further developping the initial communication plan for the Key Project
Partners to obtain the desired outcome: 1. Professors at Schools and
School Management – Potential benefits they see further to using the
Tool; 2. Romanian Education Ministry- Customer/Payer; 3. Research
Agencies and Institutes in Romania – Financing companies for initial
project funding (Grants); 4. Software companies from Romania and
Europe - Project Partners/Subcontractors; 5. Professors/ Researchers
from Universities – Project Partners; 6. Large Companies in Romania –
Long term funding; 7. Teenagers’ Parents – Lobby support; 8. Students
in mid and high schools - Users.
Use the opportunity of the existent performant digital technologies and
innovation to develop efficient tools for the teenagers’ education,
having the final purpose of a strong and long-term social impact.

5
Management team
The Team structure is 7+1.
The Sevens are five Students and two Associate Professors at the
public University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in
Bucharest. The One is Project Mangers at ETA2U, a private IT
integrator company. It’s a public and private partnership.
The Sevens from the University will be responsible with managing
the communication plan to obtain the desired outcome from the
Strategic Project Partners, reviewing the Project deliverables and
the test results.
The One from ETA2U will be in charge with managing the Project
Plan & budget, tracking the project deliverables, reviewing the
technical solution proposed by Subcontractor and supporting
product tests.

6
Go-to-impact plan
The impact of the proposed education Tool would be managed
together with the Education Ministry in Romania.
• The impact on the interest of Students on climate changes and
risks The application will generate automatically statistics such as:
subscribe users’ trend and test scores’ trend. For further increases
of those trends, they can be published using various media
channels. Another way to maintain and develop the interest is to
update its content at least once a year.
• Societal impact is a bit more challenging to be quantified, but we
should find changes in lifestyle and consumption patterns at
schools and in teenagers’ families. Also, there should be changes
in attitude and behavior observed at public & private events: less
trash food after events, more focus on recycling the trashes,
increased interest in redefining the good environmental practices,
etc. Taking into account the privacy rules, those data can be
published to increase awareness and for further impact of
educational activity.
• In a nutshell, long term impact in climate change cannot be
expected without investing in youth’s education.
7
Implementation plan
• The Team has prepared a Project Plan with milestones, deliverables and
budget. There are four Work Packages and 11 Deliverables.

• Key activities: preliminary activities ( define specs and align them with
user requirements), application design activities ( tool architecture, content
creation, web-site design) , implementation (quiz and web- page), test &
evaluation ( test in real environment and design reviews with evaluation
report).
• Assumptions: Data storage for test purpose using Subcontractor facilities,
long term data storage at Education Ministry Data Center/ Cloud or other
storage facilities as it is agreed.
• The project budget is 147,000 Euro for a period of 2 years. The amount of
5 ,000 Euro would be used for the initial project activities to conclude
agreement with Customer/Payer. 8
