STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
This study aims to investigate the impact of blended learning approaches on Grade 8 students’
mathematics achievement and confidence at La Marea Academy. Specifically, it seeks to compare the
effectiveness of different blended learning models, examining how they influence both academic
performance in mathematics and students' confidence levels in the subject. By identifying the most
effective approaches, this study intends to provide insights that could inform teaching strategies,
enhance student outcomes, and improve confidence levels in mathematics learning. The findings could
also guide educators and policymakers in optimizing blended learning frameworks to support middle
school students' success in mathematics.
1. How do different blended learning approaches affect the mathematics achievement of Grade 8
students at La Marea Academy?
2. What impact do these blended learning approaches have on students' confidence in their
mathematical abilities?
• How do Grade 8 students perceive the impact of blended learning in enhancing both academic

Moreover, the research will specifically examine the subject of Mathematics, focusing on
achievement levels (test scores, assignments, and assessments) and students' confidence in their
mathematical abilities. The study will explore a blended learning model that combines online digital media
with traditional face-to-face classroom methods. The online component will include interactive lessons,
videos, quizzes, and discussion forums, while the face-to-face element will consist of teacher-led sessions and
classroom activities. Data will be collected over one academic semester, covering the period from the
beginning to the end of the semester. Achievement data will be gathered through standardized tests,
assignments, and assessments. Confidence levels will be measured through pre- and post-study surveys and
interviews with students.
