What to bring?
• You need to bring the following to every class:
• Cambridge Further Maths Units 3 & 4 Textbook
• Casio Classpad II CAS Calculator
• Bound reference (preferably 256 pages)
• Workbook
• Laptop
• Please put your name on your calc
• I have a Sharpie to borrow
VCE Expectations
• You are expected to complete a minimum of 1-hour of homework for
every hour in class. There is limited time in class to do textbook
question.
• 95% attendance is expected at CESC
• If you miss a class it is my expectation that you catch up ASAP. The
class will not slow down if a student misses
• VCE Study Club can be used as a great resource. Will be on
Wednesday from 3pm to 4:30pm
Course Content
• Our two core areas of study are:
• Data Analysis (40%) (2 x 2 hour SAC)
• Financial Maths (20%) (2 hour SAC)
• Our two school modules are:
• Geometry and Measurement (20%) (2 hour SAC)
• Matrices (20%) (2 hour SAC)
• SAC’s will contribute to 34% of your overall mark
• All SAC’s will be completed afterschool
Outcomes
• For each SAC, you must pass all 3 outcomes to pass.
Outcome 1 – Define and explain key concepts
Outcome 2 – Select and apply the mathematical concepts, models and
techniques
Outcome 3 – Use of your calculator
• You will be tested on all 3 outcomes each SAC
Satisfactory completion
• Coursework must be completed 48 hours prior to the SAC
• Each of the 3 outcomes must have a score of > 50%
• Redemption task will be given if either of these two requirements are
not met
• If first redemption task is not passed, the students will sit a second
redemption
• If second redemption is not passed, it will be my decision with
consultation with Year level leader and assistant principal whether
students will continue studying Further Maths
Bound Reference
The bound reference must be in book format of A4 size or smaller when
closed.
It must have a single horizontal or vertical spine.
Pages must be permanently bound and securely attached to the spine.
The number of pages is not specified
The bound reference may be:
• A textbook
• A securely bound lecture pad
• A permanently bound student-constructed set of notes without foldouts
• An exercise book
Students are allowed to:
• Annotate the material
• Design their own written index
• Fold or cut pages
• Colour code pages or insert dividers into their own sets of notes
• Firmly attach (for example, by glue) additional material to pages in the bound reference.

The following are prohibited:


• Pages or parts of pages can be detached from the bound reference during the examination
• Fold-outs, maps or brochure style components
• Removable tabs, post it notes or other items designed to be detached
• Forms of collation/binding that are designed to be non-permanent and the content modified by insertion
including:
• Ring-binder folders
• Plastic A4 sleeves (permanent or removable) from which pages may be removed
• Manila and similar folders with clip, clamp, slide and metal prongs style binding of loose-leaf material.
• If any page is detached from the rest of the bound reference, the page will be removed by the supervisor for
the duration of the examination and the incident will be reported as a potential breach of rules.

External Assessment
• Two exams will be sat at the end of the year (worth 33% of your
overall mark each)
• Both exams will be 90 min (+15 min reading time)
• Exam 1 will consist of 40 multiple choice questions (1 marks each)
• Exam 2 will consist short answer questions worth a total of 60 marks

• We will go through an exam question every lesson as a warm up

Verification Test
• First lesson back in 2025
• 60% pass
• Workbooks will be checked to see if textbook questions and holiday
homework is complete
• If not complete you will receive an N on your verification
