ELECTRIC VEHICLES
EVs ARE CARS ,TRUCKS AND OTHER VEHICLES THAT RUN ON ELECTRIC
MOTORS POWERED BY RECHARGABLE BATTERIES.UNLIKE GASOLINE
POWERED VEHICLES , EVs PRODUCE ZERO TAILPIPE EMISSIONS, MAKING
CLEANER ALTERNATIVE FOR TRANSPORTATION .

2
WHY IT IS
1.EVs produce zero tailpipe
IMPORTANT ?
emissions, meaning they
don't contribute to air
pollution in cities and towns.
This can have a major
impact on public health, as
air pollution is linked to
respiratory and
cardiovascular problems.
2.Transportation is a major
source of greenhouse gas
emissions, which contribute
to climate change. EVs can
help to reduce these
emissions, especially if they
are charged using
renewable energy sources 3
WHY IT IS
IMPORTANT ?
3. Electricity is generally
cheaper than gasoline , so
EVs can be more economical
to operate in the long run
4. EVs are much quieter
than gasoline-powered
vehicles, which can
reduce noise pollution.

GLOBAL COMPANIES
TESLA
• This is an American multinational company that designs,
manufactures, and sells electric vehicles (EVs). It is named
after Nikola Tesla. In honor of his contributions to the field of
electricity.

• Tesla was founded in 2003 by a group of engineers including

Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning. Elon Musk became
involved later in 2004 as a major investor and eventually
became CEO.

• Tesla's market cap was around $558.04 billion (as of April

2nd, 2024).

GLOBAL COMPANIES
HYUNDAI
• Hyundai Motor Group, which includes Hyundai, Kia, and
Genesis, is one of the world's leading automakers and has
committed significant resources to developing and
manufacturing electric vehicles. Their "Hyundai Motor
Way" strategy aims to deliver 2 million EVs to the global
market by 2030

• They've developed a dedicated Electric Global Modular

Platform (E-GMP) specifically for their electric vehicles.
This platform allows for rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive
configurations, extended range, and fast-charging
capabilities. 6
GLOBAL COMPANIES
TATA MOTORS
• Tata Motors is one of the leading Indian car
manufacturers, and they're at the forefront of the
electric vehicle (EV) movement in India.
• Tata Motors is working on establishing a robust
charging infrastructure in India to address range
anxiety, a common concern for EV buyers.
• Current EV Offerings: Tata Nexon EV, Tata Tigor EV,
Tata Punch EV

FUTURE OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES IN INDIA

• India is one of the world's largest markets for two- and

three-wheeled vehicles, ranking among the global top five
for private cars and commercial vehicles.
• By 2030, NITI Aayog expects to reach 70% EV market
penetration for all commercial vehicles, 30% for private
vehicles, 40% for buses, and 80% for two and three
wheelers. This is consistent to reach net zero carbon
emissions by 2070

FUTURE OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES IN
HIMACHAL PRADESH
• The Himachal Pradesh EV policy, introduced in 2022,
outlines ambitious goals for adoption and targets 15% EV
sales by 2025. The policy emphasizes the development of
public charging infrastructure, financial incentives for EV
purchases, and the encouragement of renewable energy
sources for charging these vehicles
• Himachal Pradesh government use EVs in there most of
departments e.g. RTO , HRTC use EV buses
